  2. A little solo time early this am - 120 miles of backroads before a breakfast burrito stop in Campo. Happy Fathers day to all the dads here. Pizza night tonight with my oldest daughter. Mexico and Italy have the same colors on their flags, and they have the best food groups. Coincidence? I think not. Red, White, and Green. Tomato, Mozzarella, and Basil. Or Red Salsa, Sour Cream, and Green Chili.

  3. I realy like the WP suspension on the 1100 Sport, but there is a plastic part that's hard to find. So yes I woud put a WP front on the V11. Øhlins on two V11, and yes they are nice. Look for some used ones. Wilbers only offer springs for the front, but exelent rear schock. Just my experience. Cheers Tom.

  4. Lock washer are an engineering abomination and of almost zero utility. I've never seen one used in aviation in my 42 year career. They are lawn mower technology. A correctly torqued decent material bolt won't loosen in use unless it's a bolt not fit for the purpose it's being used in. Just use flat washers and some blue loctite. If you must use a lock washer then use a Nord-lock washer. Phil

  5. Hi to all! Any have experience with the MISTRAL V-TWIN BOOST MG-VTB12? How it works? More info: https://www.mistralspecialparts.it/en/product/v-twin-boost/ Best regards!

  6. Thanks for your thoughts. The ring gear bolts, for example are only torqued to 12 foot/lbs. Not high torque, so I don't believe there is a lot of stress that needs to be spread. To your point, nearly 25 years and they were solid when they came out.

  7. On account of being brilliant (no comparison to @docc though...), I found the post in question. note also my comment two posts down:

  8. It's a couple of years back now, but if I remember correctly, the experts I watched setting up a Greenie went at that part of the rev range by adjusting the CO trim. I'll see if I can find my post. No idea where it was....

  9. I would try either of the two dealerships in Minnesota, both near Minneapolis. One is on the north side of town and the other is on the south side.... https://www.ecofunmotorsports.com/Motorcycles-Moto-Guzzi-V7-Stone-2025-Forest-Lake-MN-9f31b198-9883-4a7d-9ed7-b2ae01221d92

  10. I’d be perfectly, 100% fine with that price range, but disappointed if it’s significantly below that. I would have done a straight $5K on here, just so I wouldn’t have to deal with the BaT ‘fear of the unknown’…but, to my discredit, I came on here kinda late, for someone on this forum to kick around an offer. I do have a very nice 1953 Falcone up for grabs, however 🤣

  11. Bill Hagan, aka “Ballabio Bill” from Docc’s initial Spine Raid rider turn out log. I remember a couple years ago, in the Spine Raid garage while drinking some Woodford Reserve Double Oaked 🥃, you talked so fondly about your long lost Ballabio, the one that got away. The BaT bike in question should live in the Moto Grappa, end of story. Real price is 5k, gotta have it no more than 6k even with the low miles.

  12. When I took over the care of the G5, it had a fairly new Surflex clutch. After replacing the clutch, flywheel, transmission input gear, it was as good as new.

  13. @v11_meticcio I had to ask DeepL what you wrote. It said Yes, it happens.

  14. Non so se capita anche a voi, ma alle volte, pochi istanti prima di partire, la guardo e penso tra me e me, “oggi è più bella del solito”!!! 😍

  15. I have had two back surgeries, a knee surgery, need the other knee done and am in need of a hip replacement. That does not deter me from riding a V11. It has by far the most comfortable motorcycle seat I have ever sat on. As to ergos, Motobits pegs move the pegs down and forward, and the stock bars can be pulled up into what this 72 year old calls the "old man position." I pulled them down as far as practical and swapped back to the OEM pegs. I'd consider rearsets if there were any.

  16. It is so. My late, lamented, and lost-to-me Ballabio I bought while Kathi was getting her master’s in Boston. I did not tell her. It seemed the safest thing to do. That was error. I promised not to do that again. So, as she is in George just now, I thought it prudent to mention all of this to her on the telephone this morning. She used her well-honed wife, and middle school teacher skills to say that I “should do it if I feel it right.” Men married more than a day or two see the trap there. But I am musing about it. The reality is that I am so smitten by my V 85 and pleased with my Stornello and EV, all three of the present occupants of the Moto Grappa, that it is difficult rationally to justify such a purchase now. At 78 next month, I’m not sure that I want Kathi and my executor to go through anytime soon what the OP is just now. Yes, I can see what I’m doing up above, and it’s not working. Lord, that’s a sweet machine. Bill

  17. I made Jude a pair of earrings out of a pair. Sadly they are too heavy to wear really! If you'd like one to use as a 'Prince Albert' I'll happily send you a few. Just don't post pics eh?

  18. Yup. Also the oil that came out of it, (And other bikes with these things fitted.) always stinks so heavily of fuel it's hardly oil any more. When 8V's eat their tappets one of the first signs is blackening of the oil. It doesn't stink of fuel though, a bit more 'Burnt' than you would expect but it doesn't smell fuelly though. Heavily contaminated oil also 'Feels' different if you rub it between your fingers. Believe me, I've seen it many times now. It's not just a random sample of one! Pete

  19. Back on topic. We have a Griso in at the moment for rollerisation. It's been running a finbau forge O2 sensor fooler. 27,000 km and the tappets are some of the worst we've seen and the camchains are utterly rooted. Tops of the pistons are washed pretty clean so it's rings are history too. Why people fit these bits of shit is just beyond me.
