  1. Nice milestone today on the speedometer...smooth with all of the fresh fluids! Successful 100 mile run...no leaks!

  2. Correct, and a slightly different shape as well. The goose neck frame mounted Ballabio/Café Sport/Coppa Italia fairing is slightly larger than the fork mounted Scura one . Not so obvious unless you compare them side by side but the obvious difference is the way the windscreen fastens to the fairing with 5 screws vs 6.

  4. I can verify with absolute certainty that that is the site maintained by Bernd, the author of Guzzidiag. He and his wife also breed dogs, and the site actually mostly deals with that. The Guzzidiag bit is just attached to it, because the webspace was already there for the dogs. This is what you get when you land at the site without the Guzzidiag part in the address: https://www.von-der-salierburg.de/

  5. this is a possibility, and is a thought. fuel pump was priming, and it was turning over initially. the side stand does not need to be up for it to start, i warm it up on the side stand constantly. the clutch does have to be pulled in however, which was done of course. relays was what i meant to say, not fuses. i was wondering if that was the dreaded issue? yep, definitely in neutral. i left it in neutral, and the light does work and indicate correctly. i'm hoping it's just a relay. my bike has the upgrades and i have spares...

  6. Can you hear the fuel pump prime when you flip the switch to 'run'? Next, you need a test light and seat off. Gearbox in neutral, yes? I just had about a 5 minute WTF with a honda quad I haven't used in a few months because it wasn't in neutral.

  7. Whoever at Moto Guzzi that designed the wire harness and thought multiple pos and neg wires to the battery was a GREAT idea should be made to remove and install a battery on a V11 for 10 years straight. What a complete joke for a bike made in 2004. No wonder these bikes have so many troublesome elec problems. Got to be a better way... rant over.

  8. To get the chain thoughts under control, check with the strobe light as Docc said. Did replace my t cover gasket with a steel edt, and saw no reason to replace anything, 45000km Trouble in the usual rpm aerias, but running fine full trottle? If so, more TPS and tuning. It sound so much like TPS. Cheers Tom. Sent fra min SM-S906B via Tapatalk

  9. Yah, the terminal stacks are abominations. My "solution" . . .

  10. No, I haven't looked at that. What it does is spitting and farting at constant throttle between 2,000 and 3,000 r.p.m. , as far as I can tell back through the throttle bodies. It did that at about 2,800 from when I bought it, and the rev. range in which it happens has spread. The reason I've got the replacement timing chain is because @pete roper suggested that it would not be a bad idea at the mileage that the bike has on it. Maybe it isn't necessary, but I don't question expert advice like that. On top of that, there is no solid evidence that the 70,000 odd km on the clock are really 70,000, or might be 170,000, or maybe even 270,000. Who knows. Apart from that, as I mentioned, there are two broken screws in the timing cover. I figure, If I take it apart to do that, I can change the chain while I'm in there. Or vice versa: if I do the chain, it is a good opportunity to fix the screws. Whatever, the bike has apparently had one or more previous owners who have been satisfied with somewhat slap-dash maintenance and problem solving, although at least one was obviously keen on good solutions. I'd like to get to a point where I have the feeling that there are no more problems lurking in the wings.

  11. Certainly the Neutral/middle Relay (#3) can fail and the neutral light still comes on. Easiest test is to sit on the bike, clutch in, and attempt to start with stand up. This completely bypasses the neutral switch/relay.

  13. The issue is present regardless of engine temperature. The engine is equipped with an oil temperature gauge.

  15. I purchased this bike 13 years ago from Ken Johnson at Atlas Cycle in Tulsa, Oklahoma just before Ken retired and sold the business. Ken told me that it had been on display at the shop for many years. The bike hadn't been licensed for the road since 1977. All of the tinware retains its original paint. The frame and other black bits were re-painted, and the rusty hardware was cadmium plated. I tore the bike down, ordered a Gliardoni cylinder set and for the next 12 years the bike was in boxes. Last year I got serious about finishing it. Today I finished the wiring. I installed one of Greg Bender's fabulous wiring harnesses. I also installed his slick "relay solution" panel. Everything worked flawlessly. This was a very rewarding project!
