  1. We own rider's bikes much more than collector's bikes. There is always the odd Daytona or even an MGS-01 sprinkled here and there for professional oglers. The rest of us enjoy that perfect road at the perfect time on what is, then and there, the perfect bike.

  2. The only deception is the pronunciation of "Guzzi".... All the rest is spot-on!

  3. There is so much mis-information about EVs. People make up stats showing their environmental impact that use lots of assumptions. But then when they compare the EV to the ICE vehicle they somehow don't use similar assumptions about the ICE vehicle. The reality is EVs are cleaner when you look at the entire life cycle of the vehicle. If you want to make a pro-ICE vehicle argument you might want to use a different angle then being environmentally friendly. That is a comparison that, if made honestly, the ICE vehicle will loose.

  4. Here is the link to SIXS 2024 catalog: https://drive.google.com/file/d/148g3yPzht0TV5LXk2TuFlniuyhAwka-e/view?usp=sharing I support their stuff unconditionally, as written above, I rode all my Texas tour wearing their garments. You will have to download the catalog, as it is too large to be displayed from "mydrive". The catalog is in both English and Italian. There is a guide to pick what you need depending on what you want to do with it. Last but not least, I would recommend to order two sizes above what you think would fit you if you were purchasing in the USA for US sizes. I normally pick medium, so I chose Large and it was too small. This time, I am going to go 2XL. If you order before the end of the year, you will get 2023 pricing. I paid about 80 Euros for delivery last time.

  5. And, yet, ICE emissions have included the impact of discarding used lubricants leading many manufacturers to extend motor oil change intervals excessively and declare transmission and differential oils "lifetime fill" in order to effectively limit their fleet emissions ratings. Let us not, then, neglect to consider the "emissions" impact of the unplanned-for discard of all of these batteries as they age out . . .

  6. I'm not sure any bike will make you rich....A Vincent might be worth $65k about what it would cost to restore and keep running.

  8. I read this today... Here comes the Tesla battery. To produce it you need to excavate: 12 tons. of rock for Lithium 5 tons. of cobalt minerals 3 t. of mineral for nickel 12 tons. the mineral for the copper Need to move 250 tons. of land to obtain: 12 kg of Lithium 13.6 pounds of nickels 22 kg of manganese 6.8 kg of Cobalt 100 Kg of Rams 200 kg of aluminum, steel and plastic. The Caterpillar 994A used to move this earth consumes 1000 litres of diesel in 12 hours. Here is the “zero emissions” car.

  9. Tesla, at the very least, needs to install a "Guzzi Avoid" app. in their killer machines.

  10. Riding motorcycles always was dangerous. That is a given. But this new tech and its apparent inability to recognize motorcycles is increasing that danger. That is a concern to me. I realize that the final destination of this tech will hopefully be safer. But it seems there is still a ways to go, and in the meantime this has increased the danger to motorcyclists (and pedestrians / cyclists). I am all for the tech to improve safety, but my personal observations tell me that a major problem is that this tech in some vehicles lacks the necessary safety interlocks to safely deploy on public roads. The core of those safety interlocks would be things that force drivers to stay at least somewhat involved in the operation of the motor vehicle they are operating. self driving automobiles are not really here yet, despite what some would have you believe. Even if you are using a feature like "Auto-Pilot" you are still operating the vehicle and it is still on you to operate it safely. But if the vehicle doesn't force you to be involved in the operation of the vehicle that would be, in my opinion, a design defect of the vehicle. Thus, in the event of an accident where a vehicle let a driver pawn off 100% of the driving to a system that was not capable of 100% of the driving blame should be shared by both the driver of the vehicle and the manufacturer that built a vehicle that would operate in an unsafe manner like that. It is clearly possible to roll out safety improvements like this in a manner that does not decrease safety for some of us. But it is the responsibility of the manufacturer to do so. And failure to do so should result in financial penalties. In the end, that has always been a major driver of vehicle safety. Financial penalties for safety issues have dramatically improved vehicle safety over the years. In the end money drives progress.

  11. Yes, I remember that period. In Melbourne in the late eighties, Volvos were considered to be the most dangerous cars on the road. Not for the people in the Volvo, for everyone and everything else on the road. Particualarly motorcycles.

  12. This discussion reminds me of a study of motorcycle fatalities, reportedly released in Europe, where female drivers of Volvos were over-represented in the statistics. Having been convinced they were in the safest car money could buy, the drivers evidently grew less aware and less diligent, basking instead in their (false) sense of safety. I have no doubt that experienced motorcyclists are some of the best automobile drivers in the world. And that any mass in motion is inherently unsafe. Ask anyone who has hit their thumb with a hammer . . .

  13. After riding a lot of long distances for the Motorcycle Grand Tour of Texas in 2022, and now 2023, I can vouch for the SIXS gear. Especially the "padded" boxer shorts! They really help to subdue what the but has to go through. They have two options. I have tried both and for long distances, it really helps. They are made of a very light material and they are comfortable once you get past the feeling that you have pooped yourself. Add at least two sizes if you order from them. Their undergarment for summer rides are better than anything I tried before. They are extremely light. What a pity they are not distributed in the USA.
