  1. Any good independent shop should be willing and able to handle all of it, but they may freak when they see the filter in the sump. Fluids? Maybe a Duc shop might risk it, as they do Brembo hydraulics. As to tires, Cycle Gear will do the tires if you buy them there. Arizona Mesa(480) 969-5555 Peoria(602) 313-6371 Phoenix(602) 971-1630 Surprise(623) 474-3335 Tucson(520) 882-8111
  2. Pirelli 45.5% owned by ChemChina. Bias ply Sport Demons are made in Brazil. The others...???
  3. Michelin Pilot Road 3s came with big red. I get the feeling that the tire profile is not that well suited to the bike. It definitely corners better on the gas than neutral or overrun. Might be the tires, the Guzzi or the 180>170 thing. I see folks raving about the Conti Road Attack 3. Certainly not an inexpensive tire, but what price confidence?
  4. It appears to be a little-known factory special: the Bella Russa.
  5. Worked on the Boeing YC-14 prototype tooling. It had to make (2) parts. For some of the autoclaved tooling, quick repairs were made with bondo and lamp black to match the black epoxy of the tooling. Can only imagine what McDonnell-Douglas did on their YC-15.
  6. If the rod ends are sunk in holes (like the mount holes) and welded, it should be OK. I'm trying to adapt the springworks from an Italian switchblade to the sidestand so I can have push button deployment.
  7. Water? It could well have been intended for use as a beer pump. As to Hondas, here is the nicest CX cafe I have seen. 53 Motorcycles in the UK.
  8. Listening to this now. A little known (EDIT) Edinburgh group. Epic sound.
  9. Ever raided by Garland Bunting? He was a 'Revenuer', busting up stills in the backwoods. According to Mr. Bunting, you did not want to get caught alone near a still, because if you did, the owners would ensure that "You might get better, but you'll never be well." .
  10. Maybe a Coppa, but I simply do not like the LM fairings. As to seals, some of them apparently needed new seals at the factory gate. My comparison is a 34 year old EX500 Kawi that is oil tight - so I'm spoiled.
  11. That would be the YTX15L-BS. Just strapped one in my V11. Chaparral and Avid Cycles sell them for about $80.
  12. OK you guys, the biggest Holley was the "Dominator" While it was not a Dominator, I had a "List 4239" 700 CFM - half of a big block Chev tunnel ram setup - on my hot rodded 283. No choke, no power valve, but when that 350HP/327 cam came into play, it more than kept up with traffic. Stayed right beside a Boss 302 Mustang and an SS396 (probably 325HP) Chevelle. Was humbling with me in my ratty, rusted '61 Biscayne. And now, back to the show I mean thread! I started this, I might as well finish it.
  13. The numbers were right, but the decimal wrong. My bad. Will re-read the tuneup thread. We Luddites like big old Holley four barrels. Now that I can understand.
  14. To do this, it must be getting too much mixture, both fuel and air. That would seem to indicate that the throttle bodies are not where they should be. The R throttle body has that eccentric "choke" cam on it. Make certain that it is not camming the throttle body open. Both vacuum hoses connected and in good shape? Throttle cable properly seated and adjusted? Oh, choke off? I just un-dusted my '04 a bit. Due to horrible popping back, I commenced to mechanically synch the throttles. I slacked the throttle cable, the choke cable and disconnected the TB cross linkage at the left end. Then backed off both throttle plate idle screws until both plates were closed. Twisted the balance knob on the cross linkage until the linkage would just slip back together with a trace of drag. Set the TPS (throttles closed) at 1.574, but it would not idle. So, back to reading the manual and the tune up thread. Can see why Dellortos are so tempting.
  15. The V11 combustion chamber is somewhat more advanced than radial aircraft engines - but not all that much. Therefore, pre-ignition is an ever-present threat as we are in the pre-knock sensor world here. Lucky those who live near a friendly airport, eh?
  16. There is probably a Guzzi-specific instruction on this, but I use bare gasket where I want it to stick. Perma-Tex gray or similar would be good there, if any surface irregularities exist. On the opposite surface, I use a very thin layer of synthetic grease on the gasket (i.e. valve cover gasket to head) in cases where it will be removed. If you bond both sides of a gasket, you will almost certainly have to go back in for some as-yet-unknown reason, usually Murphy's law.
  17. Thumb: Have you changed the angle on your bars (if possible)? I have found that some bars which are not angled back sufficiently place a lot of stress on your thumb and the web between hand and thumb. Numbness and the inevitable pain result. The same with bars which are angled down too steeply. Think of holding two separate straight bars, one in each hand, then closing your eyes and placing them where your hands would like to be. If the angle where your hands would like to be does not match where your bars are, some adjustable bars might be just the thing.
  18. While I'm riding, I cannot get the Sword of Damacles out of my head... To butcher Chaucer, Above, where seated on V11 steed, I saw the rider blazing like fire, There was a sharpened sword above his helmet That hung there by the thinnest simple wire.
  19. Ah yes, the Triumph Tiger Cub. A nice little bike with a Babbitt bearing connecting rod as its Achilles heel. I would suppose that modern oils have helped out.
  20. The old Odd-I-See has taken a dump. No amount of amperage, Young Frankenstein electrical theatrics or pleading can bring it back. Therefore, A Yuasa YTX15L-BS has taken up residence. Got the fresh bottle of DeoxIT out and gave the veritable plethora of cable terminals an alcohol bath, followed by a bronze brush scrub-up. Then Deoxed both sides of everything. You know how those ground problems can be so vexing. While giving the terminals some love, I noted that someone, somewhere was a little generous with the insulation. Funny that it was the ground side, since everything red is hanging out in the open, waiting for a shorter than usual circuit. Gave it a trim and now all cables seat solidly.
  21. Was squinting at the wheels. My bad.
  22. Charging a new Yuasa AGM as we speak. If I read the Odyssey info rightly, it looks to be about 10-11 years old. I get about that out of Yuasa AGMs in my Kwackers and this one was US $79 to my door.
