  1. This is what I learned of the Bosch plugs I use in the roadster. (Rather the hard way).
  2. During a recent challenge with a spark plug stuck in the head of my BMW ///M roadster, I was surprised to learn that lubricated threads can lower the acceptable torque by one third. That translates to my having done a lot of significant over-torquing!
  3. 45-50 Nm = 33-37 ft-lbs should be fine then?
  4. Joe, check your PM on the images. I have some options for you . . .
  5. (Just to clarify, I copied these images from the first link Lucky Phil posted to the store he spoke of in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.)
  6. Wow, what a lovely story, but a sad ending. I see people trying to have stores that "look" like this now. But they aren't really genuine.
  7. I sourced a metal end to crimp to the wire core folded over the side and plug into the coil. You know, from a real parts store. The dimly lit kind with greasy hardwood floors and a handful of guys that know where little parts are stowed in cardboard boxes on plywood shelves.
  8. No mention of Cubanos leaves wiggle room . . . .
  9. Is it really? https://www.ebay.com/itm/224080450606
  10. What a hoot! Looking forward to some video of "it" in action at the parade!! "HIDE YER CHILDREN!!"
  11. I only have the warranty gearbox (installed since ~27,000 miles). Moto Guzzi took the original back. Right before they made the recall. If any Guzzi parts supplier would take any interest in stocking these springs, I suspect that would be Gordon at MG Cycle. Perhaps he could even send some to Stein-Dinse since I'm pretty sure they have a relationship. Curious to see how the other two springs compare to new ones. The shift lever is failing to spring back up more often. I seem to recall one of the other springs aids that function as well as the "pawl spring" in question (?)
  12. Very soon I intend to install the Chuck-Made/Scud Spring and compare to a factory replacement spring with about 64,000 miles/ 100.000 km on it. This replaced one that broke in my warranty replacement gearbox after about 27,000 miles. Here is the conundrum. I have the "other two" factory replacement springs. Should I swap in these other two springs for the ones in the warranty gearbox that have about 90,000 miles/ 145.000 km on them?
  13. I am seeing Omar was last here September 7, 2019. Maybe he fixed it and is out on the road somewhere!
  14. Here is a link to the Splash Shield at FIAMM. https://fiammcomponents.com/en/europe/avvisatori-acustici/prodotti/mascherina-am80-(emea).aspx Pretty sure the last ones i bought were from this US school bus parts supplier ($1.50US, each): https://www.apartswarehouse.com/Product/Show/1286/splash-guard-for-horn They do help the horns last longer, but add some adhesive to the clips or they go missing (at least on Guzzis . . .)
  15. Those look good on the V7 (along with the aux lights), Kiwi_Roy! Not sure the V11 Sport has a place for horizontal mounting. Maybe the LeMans do?
  16. Happy Birthday, Bill!
  17. Pretty sure this cool thing belongs in "Show Us Your Tools!"
  18. I was hoping someone had the definitive answer for this . . . I've been through a couple pair of FIAMM horns. Nice to sound like a pickup truck when necessary! They are certainly susceptible to gathering moisture and debris. I learned to angle them away from the tire spray: . . . using the FIAMM guards (secured with black RTV silicone). FIAMM once offered to replace my horns when they quit. Worth asking. (They also sent me the guards, pictured, free of charge).
  19. I had always heard the rockers had to come out, but my last attempt to pull that plug, I found it accessible above (inboard of) the rocker shaft. (I just could not get the thing to budge.) There are a couple other oil leak points that make it look like a head gasket (but isn't), so we'll see what Seth finds when he checks back in . . .
  20. So, we Guzzisti are religiously bound to a practice, no longer necessary, that dates to the value of AM radio? Why am I not surprised?
  21. "Recovery" straps would be too stretchy. This was a "tow" strap. They still stretch a little, but not much. It still took heat and quite a lot of slide hammering to free them.
  22. I use a couple 1156 bulbs in series or an old fog light from a Jeep Wrangler. Simply watch the voltage a few minutes until it stabilizes.
  23. Glad not to be alone . . .
  24. Those are perfect for the timing sensor that was leaking on the original poster's (plexiform's) V11 back in 2016, but that may not be what Seth has. The image I posted above shows a leak that had me thinking head gasket for a long time, but it is an O-ring inside the valve cover under a plug (that I can't get out) . . .
