Win-win! I hope the new LeMans owner gets logged on here soon! And, I hope he knows what an amazing V11 specimen he has!

I was able to compress my early Marzocchi by hand and slip out the retainer. Watch yer eyes!

Back in 2003, my gearbox started pitching hissy-fits. I asked after it on the *more usual* place for (US) internet discussion. I was told two things: 1) [and I paraphrase deeply], "Give 'er a good and solid boot. Yer just a Jap-bike weenie and don't have the grit fer a real Guzzi gearbox." . . . and: 2) "Hey, ya know, there's a *new* forum that just popped up and you might get some answers there: V11LeMans.com." Quite quickly, a couple things came to light: 1) The dedicated members and contributors to V11LeMans.com (worldwide) are The Foremost Experts on the V11 and the early 6speeder. 2) The early gearboxes were recalled and we have fussed with the nefarious spring ever-since. (I told y'all my gearbox didn't shift right!) . . . How amazing is it that there are such dedicated enthusiasts to go this deeply into creating solutions and sharing them with the worldwide community?

I wanna be *Austin* when I grow up . . . Thanks for taking us along for the (development) ride, Chuck!

http://www.sparkbright.co.uk/battery-voltage-monitors.php I did not see this statement before in their product description: "Completely bespoke thresholds and output patterns can be created for you at no extra cost" That would make it more interesting to me and my preconcieved notions about AGM voltage thresholds.

Other than the "Guzzi yellow" error, it's actually a decent little article.

Looks like the long turn goes down. I think mine's upside down and lays on the oil feed lines for the heads

Tell that to my supermodel girlfriend. Here's post that's pretty hollow without pictures . . .

We had a pretty thorough camshaft thread not long ago. I'll try and retrieve it, if you're interested. The V11 cam is really well developed. I can't imagine introducing another variable at this point, though . . . [edit: here's the thread on the Norris SS cam and others: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19653&p=213946]

hey, hey, hey! I knows a green(ie) rooster when I sees one!

I ordinarily would not trust calculations hand-written on "notebook paper." but since about a third of the lines are melted off by *some unknown solvent*, I feel really good about this effort. I presume there may be *special tool fluid* involved . . .

LOOKOUT EVERYBODY! The Greenies are struttin' again!
-
It's all about the V11 Green. It's not actually the V7 Sport Telaio Rosso green, and it's not the 1100Sport yellow. Look at the dust cover of Ian Falloon's "The Moto Guzzi Story", 1999, Haynes Publishing UK. The V11Green is exceedingly hard to capture on image and reproduce in printing or online. It must be seen to be totally experienced. It changes with the day's light and the mood.

Looking forward to "reading" the CycleWorld article. A buddy of mine shares his past issues with me, so it could be a few months . . . The sorry thing is that those folks might only be looking at online images and "thought" the early V11 Sport was "yellow", but we all know: it just ain't so. Ask any Greenie. (BTW, the "Greenie" probably isn't the V11-its-own-self, but its dedicated steward.)

Color image capture is tricky, but this is Guzzi yellow:

The V11 designer, Luciano Marabese, loved that monoposto tail section. It was integral to his pièce de resistance design of the V11 Sport, reflecting the racing Gambalunghino of 1949. While the V11Green color, and RedFrame, pay homage to the V7 Sport Telaio Rosso of 1971, the design inspiration for the V11 goes deeper into Moto Guzzi's racing heritage.

SOLD, THANKS! Hepco&Becker Rack for V11 Sport Variants

Right? Watch those hangers! -
The V11 Green is surely hard to photograph. luhbo has captured some great images (looking like HDR). That said, I think swooshdave is actually trying to make that image look like the mythical "Guzzi yellow" V11 that no one has ever seen. LowRyter, did Cycle World print any images of V11 in their article?

Dang! That place is palatial! Yer puttin' the 'stablished Spiner-Raid to shame. Everyone thought these were pretty good digs up 'til now! (We picked it since there is a pretty decent road right across the front . . .)

Austin is one lucky dude hanging in The Shop with the likes of Chuck. As a lad, I was nearly as lucky rebuilding two very different engines with the guiding hand of a delightful neighbor, Hal Alred. I remember my Mom saying, "Mr. Alred has an airplane in his garage." Snarky teen (me) replies, "Aw, Mom, you'll believe anything!" Turns out, the fine man truly was an Airframe&Powerplant Mechanic dating from the Second World War. And, yep, he had a complete fuselage and wing he had built in our little residential neighborhood. And four or five Lycomings and Continentals. What an amazing guy. I feel so totally lucky that he was willing to show me so many great things in my youth. Just as lucky as I feel, right now, "knowing" all of you fine fellows!

Real V11 Aficionados will have both a Chook-made/LookyPhil Shift Extender and (whatever-clever thing we will end up calling this spring) . . . I absolutely must have one, if even to wear with my dog-tags.

This is no Sport rival, but at least Ducati is narrowing their focus and developing a true Adventurer: (Never mind the effects of seawater on alloys and electronics!)
