  1. Post some pics... Also, if it has a rubber dust boot, move it out of the way and show us a pic there too.
  2. There are parts of this bike scheme that does and does not appeal to me. It's his bike and he posted picrures for our pleasure and critique. Please comment as though the owner is standing next to you.
  3. Has this picture been on here before ?
  4. Do a mock assembly and loka t the caliper/pad position with the rotor. If they are centered up, you are good to go. If you have to move the caliper out you can use a good SAE flat washer on both mouning bolts to shim outward.
  5. How far off is the Cali. rear wheel/disc rotor ? Surely someone can fab. spacers or cut your mounting bracket down?
  6. Felix, I don't know if you can buy the Alpina set-up here in the U.S. or not. If you get them from Rossopuro expect to pay $3600.00 with fr. & import duties... I would Google & check on the Alpina if you bail on this idea. There are plenty of aluminum spoke vendors selling V11 wheels too.
  7. Why didn't I think of this !!!! I was at a buddy's shop today & he was explaining how he set-up front and rear wheel bearings. He told me he assembled the spacer, bearings,etc... After that he took a piece of all-thread the right size & length and used it for his new axle. Then you use SAE flat washers ( because they are narrow) and nuts, you assemble and torque the nuts to 50' lbs. If the bearings spin freely everything is o.k... If not it is time to do something. Either a new spacer or tapping e.g. seating the wheel bearings into the hub for 0 lateral pressure because roller bearings cannot tolerate this. When installing bearings you want to make sure the bearing is seated in the hub and against the spacer. That is why you are doing this to make sure NOTHING happens on the road !
  8. Incredible.... It reminds me of a dog chasing a car....... what is he going to do when he catches it?
  9. What are the last four words out of every Redneck's mouth "Hey y'all watch this" !
  10. The rally for MGNOC is the weekend of July 14-18 in Elkader,Iowa.....If things work out I hope to be there. Check the website.
  11. The brake pad pins are held in by hair-pin clips. Remove the clips, pins and then the metal retainer with the Brembo symbol. Bend or twist the outer tangs toward the caliper. This will or should help put pressure on the retainer when reassembled. There is an arrow on this part to show direction. Remember you are working on the most important aspect of your bike so be CAREFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you are unsure of what to do, price new ones to see if you want to replace them....
  12. Disconnect the battery so there will be no excitement.....
  13. IF and I mean IF the bike is fitted with a new clutch, pressure plate or part like this it is possible these parts were coated with cosmolene (sp) or some other rust preventative. If this is not cleaned from the metal surfaces upon assembly you can get this effect or affect.... You do not have any hydraulic problems or you would not be able to put the bike in gear easily.
  14. I'd say yes. It's better if you try this in 6th gear, and even then you need a firm grip. It comes from the valve springs. They're strong. hubert H, you stole my thunder............. 6th gear will give you better leverage. In 1st you are making like 4 crankshaft revolutions to 1 wheel revolution. In 6th gear you are making 1 to 1. These # are not exact, so no one complain...........
  15. LubriPlate sells a white grease I use on (in) speedo cables.
  16. Kiwi, I haven't been paying attention..... what are you saying about adding headlight relays?
  17. One good drop will cure anyone from wearing flip-flops, shorts, no helmet & a wife beater.. There is (or was) a photo on Rotten.com with the caption "Nothing gets between me and my Harley" The pic shows a man's face wth a missing jaw, nose and everything between. I guess a face down highway crash with lots of pavement. UGH. Anyone riding sans helmet after that is on their own.
  18. The BMW R1150R was one of those. They had an erly warning device. when your boot was full of gasoline, the line wa getting ready to break into 2 pieces. The replacement is steel. Where these engineers, penny pinchers, etc. get off using plastic on critical parts I wil never figure out. What really smokes me is that the price of the part is the same as if it were made from magnesium!
  19. You need to see Katy Perry's "Katy's Kisses" bra on the cover of Rolling Stone. I've eaten 3 covers already !
  20. (i.e. not Fox) OMG..........
  21. Can you post a pic or is it back together?
  22. You want to perform the cylinder or valve leak test with kerosene or diesel. These two fluids will leak where nothing else will. Find an independent machine shop that will understand your situation.. See if they will reface the valves and seats on that cylinder.
  23. GY The spring is in the case. You will not see it until it is time to see it! The noise is indicating the need for valve adjustment. This is easy the third time you do it! Get plenty of pump from looking at manual, reading it until you feel confident in doing it.... Then JUMP
  24. Oh yeah !!!
  25. David , I see and understand your logic.. You need to work on cars, well any kind of transportation vehicle to see that module replacement is the way it's done now. BTW, what is the diameter of the fitting that pushes into the bore of the pump module?
