  1. Attaboy. I was laying in a hospital bed near death.. when the Kid says, "haven't you been looking for a Monza for years? There's one on ebay that appears to be original if you really look." It had bags and a rack on it, but no holes had been drilled to do that.. If it had been cut up, I'd never have looked at it.
  2. That looks really good.Is that with a K&N filter or stock paper filter? Uhh, that thread is 9 years old.
  3. Maybe I'm not understanding the issue? Pull the pump assembly out of the porthole, fix whatever needs fixed, and put it back. (?)
  4. They're not fussy at all, really. This is just another case of picking the fly shit out of the pepper. I have several that have never *seen* a charger, and some have sat for months at a time. I replaced a couple of them that were still starting bikes, but were 10 and 12 years old. The one in the AeroLario is the only one I've ever charged, and it's fine after blasting it with a 10 amp charger for an hour or so..

Is that leather? and I LOVE that Italian flag No, it's a marine grade not leather of some kind. Rich puts the Italian flag on the left side because Italy is a left leaning country.. He turned my Marquis de Sade designed Jackal seat from a 45 minute special to an all day all night Mary Anne seat, too.

Rich Maund 2017-06-12_07-49-26 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr A little wider, flatter, better foam. He's making seats again, but I don't think taking orders right now. Rich is *good*.
  7. Thanks for the update.
  8. Welcome and a V11 is just what you need. Perfectly capable of going coast to coast in relative comfort and being a capable "sporting" motorcycle in the twisty bits. And... it's the last of the *real* Guzzis. Join the few, the proud, the brave.. and get a V11..
  9. Just a big allen? In your tool kit.
  10. Remember.. you are looking at a Guzzi schematic which may or may not have any resemblance to reality.
  11. As this thread popped up again.. the 545 checks 12.94 today. Apparently, once that 10 amp charge got it's attention, the alternator has no problem keeping it topped up.
  12. In the V. This was the first year, and vapor lock was rampant with them.
  13. Uhhh, back in the day at Bike Week (Daytona Beach) several volunteers brought ice to the Guzzi demo rides to cool down the V11 sports that had vapor lock.
  14. My thoughts, too.
  15. From failing memory, the Centauro rear drive wasn't vented at all. You just got it good and hot and opened the filler cap to burp it.
  16. I spent quite a bit of time just trying to learn to say "My hovercraft is full of eels" in Chinese. Writing it? There might have been a misspelling or two. Doesn't mean I couldn't make something..
  17. That's it! Nicely done. Another AGM recovered. So, would you say it was the discharge followed by applying amperage in excess of 6 amps (10 amps in your case)? Must have been. It went down last fall and I just put it on a tender overnight. I thought, "WTF?" I've left Odyssey batteries for months on end out in SoCal without issue. Go out, punch the button and go. I can probably do the same with this one, now.
  18. Still 12.96.. King, I'm calling this case closed.
  19. You mean that occasionally the fog lifts enough that you can actually *see* the rain coming down?
  20. I don't use moly unless I'm running dino oil. I'm pretty confident the modern synthetics are fine without additives.
  21. I agree. When the rear drive was designed, chains were a total PITA, needing *very* regular cleaning and lubing. Not so much any more, but if you're going to have the Guzzi experience you'll just have to deal with the u joint, coupler, seals, etc. I don't mind..
  22. FWIW, this is used on aircraft to insulate fuel lines. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/search/search.php?s=FIRESLEEVE&x=0&y=0
  23. A two stroke runs the best it's ever run.. right before it seizes.
