  1. Yes, it *does* look fantastic. I've never run one with the valve covers off, either. Does it look like the left side oil flow is the same as the right? I don't suppose a right side rocker arm is grooved over the valve and giving you a false reading with the feeler gauge?
  2. No. Trickle chargers and AGMs have bad ju ju..
  3. Woo hee. Those and some Atomic Buffalo Turds would finish off the evening. Put the ABTs on a rack under the pork when it's smoking/rendering off the fat..
  4. FWIW, when I am putting an engine together, I have a squirt bottle of STP/synthetic 20-50 mix that I liberally squirt on rotating parts. I use assembly lube on all the high load things like cam/lifter/pushrod/rockers. I've always set big blocks at .006 and .008, though. The Mighty Scura with titanium pushrods runs .002 and .003.
  5. Ok, so I did the above which are commented, the rest will be done tomorrow. I found one thing out of the ordinary with the relay boxes: one relay had clearly been hot on the contact, which leads to a thick black/red wire. It was the second from the tail of the bike for me, but you can easily swap the last two boxes around. Does anyone know (based on the wire color) what relay that is? Pic: According to the drawing I have.. fuel pump.
  6. Ace Mallot told me about using radial bearings instead of springs on the shaft. He said you should see how the shaft bounces back and forth when the engine is running. No doubt it's kinda messy to do that. FWIW, the Kid did that to his Spot. I dunno if that is your problem or not.. just bouncing it off you.
  7. Hmmmm. Have you seen the "Mr. Sparky" cartoon by Larson with the dogs in the meeting? I had it posted in my shop for years..
  8. All you need to know right here. Driver info is on page one.. http://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?topic=69168.0
  9. When we went to the international BBQ festival down south, I learned that BBQ sauce isn't what you put on them. It's dip. Two syllables, as in "Dee ip."
  10. Rocker says when he worked at a dealer, they had sales brochures, etc. for the Ippo. Needless to say, they never made any.

    Stilettos, it is..
  12. kool..
  13. Yeah, me, too. I've had one unexpected get off in.. uh.. 50 some years of riding, and was basically unhurt. The skin grafts from sliding 50-60 feet on chip and seal might have been a bit painful.
  14. Sounds like a loose valve adjustment. I'm sure you have them adjusted properly, so I dunno..
  15. Here's my considered opinion as to what is happening. Of course, it's just a guess. When I picked up Rosie (Rosso Corsa) from Alabama, the rear rotor was blue and cone shaped. (!!) It sounded like a gun went off when I loosened the last rotor bolt. That sucker had been HOT. A guy that used to ride with the Distinguished Previous Owner said he was always riding the rear brake, because you could see his brake light a lot. The brake line was poorly routed, and burned through. Had a new brake line made up, bought a new caliper and rotor. I don't remember if I rebuilt the M/S or not, but probably did. Went for a ride around the mile square, and the new rotor was hot. Hmmmm. Let it cool, rode it around the square again being careful not to touch the brake pedal, and it was hot. Hmmmm some more. Decided that maybe if all the air wasn't out of the line it could get hot, expand and push the piston against the rotor. ? So, I hung a machinists vise from the brake pedal overnight, and the next day the pedal was hard as a rock. The rotor never got hot again. Take this for what it's worth..
  16. Oh. Forgot to welcome you, young feller.. Nice scooter. Don't cut it up..
  17. Ky. rally that weekend. Don't plan around me, of course.. I'm probably out any time in the fall.. if it's not rallies, it's fly ins.
  18. Nothin. Looks as if a new fone is in my future..
  19. When was the last time you greased your u joint?
  20. Uhh, that sounds normal?
  21. A lady I talked to in city hall yesterday thinks maybe they threw it away. (!!) I had the recipe for world peace on there, too.. I was just finishing it up.
  22. Back in the day, the consensus was 3/8 inch.
