  1. Wow..
  2. Just a heads up. After unpacking my $299 HF lift, I too, wondered why I hadn't done it years ago. But. A careful inspection revealed a missing nut on one of the scissor arms. If that bolt had eventually worked it's way out it would have certainly ruined my day. I removed and thread locked all nuts, topped up the hydraulic cylinder, and have used it for years, now.
  3. I wasn't. I was expecting "Beyond here be dragons.."
  4. Bultaco, Montesa, Ossa? All them is real sickles. Gas-gas? Late comer..
  5. For a good time, call BR 549.
  6. Back in the day, I had many happy miles on the back of a Bull.. Don't go dissin Bultacos..
  7. +3
  8. Dodged a bullet. Decided while the MIghty Scura was on the stand, I might as well lube the drive shaft and U joint. Joy joy.
  9. I'll give em a look.. Thanks.
  10. Just this week, I fixed my sweetie a Limoncello cake with Limoncello icing because she'd been such a nice girl.. 2017-04-13_06-29-54 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr
  11. Well, this is a surprise. I fully expected shockproof heavy to drain out if that was what was leaking. 2017-04-20_10-21-58 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr Apparently, back in the Pleistocene before I realized you couldn't just drain and measure Shockproof heavy because it would stay on the gears and not fully drain... I had some puke out of the breather. Apparently the light was *just right* last night, and this is a stain from a long time ago.. On closer inspection 2017-04-20_11-00-53 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr It didn't start at the axle. Whew! I'm a happy camper. Nothing to see here, folks.. move along.. She was just testing me to see if I'm worthy.
  12. I thought I had the Mighty Scura in good shape for the Kid and I's Carolinas spine raid/mutton run at the end of May. I'd had it in SoCal for years with practically no issues, but since it's back in the midwest.. I guess it knew that I'd have the time and tools to fix on it a little bit. Last month, I put new fork seals in the Ohlins, packed the steering head bearings, went through the electrical system, installed new tires, even rubbed out the paint, and pronounced it good to go. It's finally turned Spring, so went out for a good romp yesterday. When I was taking off my gear, I noticed this. 2017-04-20_08-07-55 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr Thought.. WTF? I've never been into a V11 drive box and fervently hoped I'd never have to. I'm guessing there's nothing to do but get in there. Are there any special tools/tricks required? Has anybody done this that can give me a heads up on what to order before I open it up? TIA
  13. ^^^^ wat he said. Many Guzzi running issues have been caused by leaky boots.
  14. I'm afraid someone needs to do an intervention.. this spiney problem is getting out of hand. I know, you say you can quit any time, but... you can see what is happening if you look through other's eyes.
  15. Sounds like it was as good an experience for him as he could have had. Thanks for being there for him.. and RIP brother from me, too. Blue skies and tailwinds.. We survivors should remember what he said.
  16. ^^^^^^ Good idea. Especially the hammer.
  17. Probably should fix that.
  18. Sorry, wrong weekend. The same as the annual Midwest Antique Airplane fly in. The Kid and I will do our own spine raid in late May/June.
  19. I did use seals Doc. They're laying on the bench to the left of the rod in the picture above, and they're shown in the drawing in the first post. I think delrin bushings would be a little like using solid aluminum. It could work but the hole in the middle will probably wear into an oval and get sloppy over time. That is my guess, too.. but Delrin has a *lot* of natural lubricity. I'd think it would be better than aluminum..
  20. Thanks, Francesco.. and it's true. I consider the Guzzi community to be my extended and gloriously dysfunctional family..
  21. Factory
  22. The best tire I know if in the wet is the PR 4.

    Ram Mount.

I'm pretty sure that nut is the jam nut for the steering head bearing adjusting nut. It *may* be different on the Zook triples, so can't say. At any rate, I have a dollar that sez it's not just decorative.
  24. Hey! I'm not *that* old.. and on second thought, my lawyer recommended saying "indiscretion" instead of "mistake."
  25. Dang! One little mistake with a pheasant, and it follows you all over the world..
