  1. G'day folk's I was looking for something the other day and stumbled upon this old Instamatic photo from 1977. Sorry about the quality! This bloody thing was my second bike after teaching myself to ride on my first,a Suzuki RV75 Van Van ( yep the one with the balloon tyres ). I swore I'd never take the wee zook off road and remember 60 k's an hour feeling bloody fast. Yep , sure enough I ended up taking it off-road! After about a year, my cousin got wind of another rider in the family and dropped round to see what was what.He raced a heavily modified CR125 in local motocross and knew what he was on about,so in due course I was convinced that a CR125 race bike was what I needed for my second bike and he'd help me find one! Now as mentioned earlier this was 1977 and I was 10 stone wringing wet and all arms and legs but a suitable machine was found. At this stage the early CR was slightly eclipsed by the newer RM zook and YZ Yammie but as a weekend plaything racing amongst mates it was still a weapon! Twenty horsepower and 80 kilos in weight none the less.Better than many 250 trail bikes of the time. I clearly remember my first ride, it took a couple of goes as there's nothing below 7500 and then everything from there to 10,500 whereupon the front wheel sits straight up, the back scrambles for traction and kicks out sideways on each gearchange and you just bang thru the gears without the clutch. At full noise in 6th the front's still in the air. We used to live about 200 metres or so from the beach in those distant days which meant that almost every spare bit of time was spent hammering this wee firecracker up the street n left onto Marine Parade and within a couple o clicks we were at the end of civilization and into bush / beach fire tracks etc and FUN TIME. Now between home and the wilderness lay Dads mates diary ( to ozzies a milk bar, to people in uk the corner shop USA ?? ) which I used to fly past at 65 mph, front wheel in the air and a racket that would've outdone a hundred banshees. Lance ( Dads mate ) was a good bloke ex stock car racer, drove a big block Chev Impala and still raced go Karts occasionally. He also kept a couple of Piranhas in a fish tank in the middle of the shop which was fun watching them being fed with chunks of meat if you happened in at feeding time. Anyways rather than being pissed off about it he thought it was hilarious as when I went past it used to rattle all the cans and bottles on his shelves and cracking him up. All up I had the CR for a couple of years before getting rid of it.She'd been rebored a few times and I'd broken the frame in two places ( too many big jumps & only 4 inches of travel ) and I also needed something I could ride on the road ( legally that is ) so she had to go. But bloody hell there's nothing like a 125 screamer to teach you how to ride eh! Still brings a smile to me and my ole mates and family still all these years later too. Anyways thanks for the indulgence that is nostalgia. Cheers Guzzler Ps How about you blokes> As lifelong bike nuts we've all got plenty to reminisce about ! I I

  11. G'day folk's Well back from my wee jaunt to the high country and in one piece! Anyhoo, signed up with Imgzeit. Yep it certainly was easy and I've got some images on there already. My problem is I can't seem to get them to attach to my post here! I know it's something I'm doing wrong or not doing at all ! Anyone able to walk a luddite through it? Cheers Guzzler
  12. Thanks folk's. Reckon I'll sign up for this when I get back from my wee jaunt to the high country! Cheers Guzzler
  13. G'day, thanks mate. Is that an external storage bank(?) for your images as opposed to storing them on your own hard drive? You know when I up loaded about 10 years of photos from the camera to desktop it's now used 91% of my storage space and tells me i need to buy more! So this imgzeit might be a good alternative ? How would a card carrying Luddite go about it? Cheers Guzzler
  14. G'day Folk's. I've finally got photos from the camera onto my desktop. Now when I try to post a photo from my album/hard drive it wont attach but tells me the image is over 204.8 kb so it skips it. Do you have to resize the image? And if so how do you do it? Sorry I realise this has been asked 1000's of times but I really am a luddite when it comes to this stuff. Trying to get this down pat so I can send some photos of our roads down here eh. Cheers Guzzler
  15. Thanks Guzzimoto It's a valuable contribution to the archives of V11 info! It's info and observations like this that make these ole tarts the better for all of us to enjoy eh! Cheers Guzzler
  16. G'day mate I too had a heart in mouth moment years ago with the standard V11 forks! Hammering hard into a left hand sweeper which tightened a fair bit then unbeknownst to me the bloody road ends in a t junction!! As I'm heeled over the front hits a pothole and the bloody front end bounces up and deflects to the right a good 12 inches or so it felt! Managed to get it under control and HARD on the brakes and stopped JUST in time. It scared the crap outa me at the time eh. Ha ha that was about 8 years ago and remember it vividly. I got the front end resprung/ valved and a Hyperpro shock out back and set up for me soon after and it's a LOT better. However the front can still bounce up very slightly on a big pothole / bump but it doesn't deflect any more, Thank god.Just a slight shake of the bars. I've since seen a thread about the two holes in the compression side fork that the oil blows through these and not through the valving. This then results in the hydraulic lock and bounce back that we've both encountered ! So I reckon that when I get my suspension serviced soon I'll be looking at blocking one or both of these which should then stop the hydraulic lock? I think it was guzzimike or guzzimoto ( don't quote me ) who posted this and he did it on his wife's V11 with very good results. Once this is done it should remove the potential hopefully altogether. Cheers Guzzler Ps Crap roads don't help eh
  17. No worries mate. No way in hades will P.S ever touch my Greenie!! Cheers Guzzler
  18. G'day again I only really notice it on crappy roadworks where overbanding is present! This is where they pour new asphalt over the surface but not over the whole road ( or lane ) so that effectively the tyre can be riding on two different height surfaces. Fortunately we don't have grooved ( or much anyways ) roads here and only rears it's ugly head in the above situation so I'm not too concerned eh. They are a good sporty tyre but I may opt for a slightly slower steering tyre ( maybe ) next time? Cheers Guzzler Ps I was tempted to try the lasertec 01 but went with Angel 2 in the end because Angel 1 was sooo good. Also heard Roadsmart 3 are good ( there is a 4 now apparently!) and Contis have their fans on here also. Ha ha at the end of the day guy's we're spoilt for choice these days!!
  19. G'day mate. Let us know what you think of them after you've got a few K's on them. I found the very light steering a bit weird to start with especially as the first ride was in pretty ordinary conditions! But you get used to that pretty quickly and I do like them. Cheers Guzzler Ps oh they do track road imperfections a little ( read crappy road works - the car does it on the same stretch too! ) as noted by some but that doesn't bother me.
  20. Thanks Pete I meant to mention that Brad would likely be booked out for ages! Yep, both blokes are bloody good and great to deal with as well. Cheers Guzzler Ps I'd better get get back to work ha ha
  21. G'day mate. Welcome to the fold! Once you've got it sorted you'll love it eh. I'm no mechanic but I can highly recommend a couple of local blokes who are VERY VERY GOOD! Brad Black ( Brad the Bike Boy ) in Oakleigh is closer to you. Rob Grant ( Guzzi Repairs ) in Cranbourne. Cheers Guzzler

    Tank bag

G'day mate. Yes I did buy the Oxford bag and am quite happy with it! Having said that I have yet to get out on a trip to try it out ha ha. I have fitted it to the bike though and it fits with no apparent issues and can't wait to get out on the road with it. Hope to get away for a 2 x day ride sometime this month and test it out now that the planets seem to be aligning to enable this! He types with fingers crossed! Cheers Guzzler Ps if I can get away will advise how it goes.
  23. Yep I won't put anything but the PC 545 in mine ! The ole tart is turning 20 years old this year and I replaced the original Spark years ago with the PC 545 which as Doc says is same thing. That lasted until about a year ago. So in 20 years she's 12 months into her third battery ! They never get charged but then again I ride all year round here, But having said that she sat unridden for 3 months ( still can't believe that ) when we moved house about 7 years ago and still fired up no issues!! So I'm sticking with the PC 545. Cheers Guzzler
