  1. Last night I finally completed my Decent Tune up. I got my throttle bodies balanced and set the idle. I did have a little issue with the tubes from the Carbtune. I originally hung the Carbtune from the handlebar like the instructions tell me too, unfortunately I didn't notice right away that the routing caused the tube to be in contact with the engine. After I was making good progress on the tuning, the bars in the tuner started to not respond and were behaving strangely. I tuned off the bike to take a break and saw that I had melted one of the tubes... So after fixing that and using my lawnmower handle to hang the Carbtune towards the back of the bike and route the tubes clearly away from the engine I had no problem getting the carbs synced up. I did have a little overheating issue prior to getting the idle set despite having a fan blowing on the engine during tuning. However, after I let it cool down, I got the idle set nicely and took her for a spin. Wow, this bike is just so pleasing to ride! Makes me feel guilty that I don't pay as much attention to my V7 anymore...

  2. Is it still a SpineRaid if two guys meet up in their four wheel drive rigs, talk up V11s, and swap special parts over dinner?

  3. If it claims to fit the square head then it should be fine. Before you buy, have you seen Joe Kenny's stuff? https://www.ebay.com/usr/jjkpguzzi?_trksid=p2057872.m2748.l2754 https://www.ebay.com/itm/354611407158?hash=item52907ca936:g:IBgAAOSwWopjBW0A

  5. Yeah, I use an old camera tripod to suspend my Motion Pro manometer for carb/throt body sync tasks and have not burned through the manometer hoses (yet). I have, however. cooked the wiring of my inductive timing light/tachometer on a few occasions....I hate when that happens. on the Decent Tune Up.

  6. I'm exploring the possibility of holding a Spine Raid in VA next year the weekend after the 4th of July 2024. I'm still looking at locations but this one is a good possibility: https://www.breakspark.com/the-lodge I've also roughed out a 5 hour ride for Saturday. May possibly add a side route that takes us up to Burkes Garden. Other possibilities are the Tazewell and Wytheville areas but there doesn't seem to be anything other than hotels for lodging. 7. I've got a set of Boehm Manometers which I really like. https://www.boehm-synchrontester.de/ I generally strap them to the pillion seat with ocky straps. They don't care if they are upright or lying down.

  8. I've got the DHS Mototecs on my Lemans, they were installed by the original owner. They were mounted above the top clamp and I believe that the steering geometry has changed slightly as a result but not enough that handling issues are evident to me. And, the bike is slightly more upright when on the side stand. Since getting the bike I have moved them as far aft and up as I could, it is more comfortable than before but I'm only good for 45min to an hour before I have to get off & stretch. I am currently contemplating getting longer brake/clutch lines, adapter harness to extend hbar switch wiring & throt cable so I can move the risers further aft (and up). It would be a winter project though. Art

  9. I agree. I don't like where they have gone with "track limits". I think it is simple, if you don't want racers using part of the track, don't pave it. If you don't want them exceeding the track limits stop paving beyond track limits. Leave it grass. Maybe pave areas say 5 or 10 feet away from the track, with grass between the track and that paved area, to give racers a chance to regain control if they run off. But if a racer is exceeding track limits and if it is grass right beyond track limits they will and should run the risk of crashing unless they pick up the bike and let off the gas. Paving right up to the edge of the track is only encouraging racers to exceed track limits and not back off. If you don't want racers to use that part of the track stop paving it. Racing should be done on track. Not in the stewards room.

  10. According to the community map, there are 35 members in the Melbourne Greater Metropolitan Area (two of them on the Penninsula...), one in the boonies up near Benalla, and 3 somewhere near Elmore.

  11. I watched a debrief of the GP, and this point was actually looked down as negative; spoiling the spectacle because Aleix did not attempt the pass. The presenter reminded us that some of the most spectacular passes infringed rules that have newly been enacted. There have been so many of these last curve passes that remain in memory that we don't want them to go away. One example was Rossi's overtaking on Stoner at Laguna Seca. I feel the same. The races should happen on tracks, and not be decided by people watching it on monitors and deciding afterwards if a move is legal or not.

  13. One year's notice should be adequate. As long as we keep this Virginia SpineRaid "idea" alive . . .

  14. What I did today: gave the V11 a run. Once again only about 80km, once again lots of fun. I'm still not really satisfied with the state it is in, but I just couldn't resist going for a ride. The starting problem, see here https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/topic/28565-starter-button/ didn't show up today, so that is good. Also good: the fuel light was just starting to glow as I arrived home. Since I still haven't had the tank off, and plan on doing that as soon as possible, it is good that the tank is empty. I hope to get onto that this week, but that depends a bit on the new hose for the breather system arriving soon.

  15. You really need to pick the time and place for that sort of shenanigans over here.... Even then it's a nervous wait n watching of the lettebox for the next 2 to 3 weeks! The dictator and his minions have a 1 kph tolerance and 20 over means instant loss of licence. I think it's 40 + and they impound your bike which costs a couple grand to get back so I'm told. Anything silly (in big brothers eyes) and they crush it! Oh for the days when we could ENJOY ourselves in peace! If you got caught you paid your fine and lived to ENJOY yourself another day... None of this Safetycrat BS which is Goverment speak for revenue raising! Cheers Ps Ban low performance riders / drivers not High performance Bikes/cars by the way... ha ha says he who has mellowed somewhat over the years! (but not completely) Pps sorry for the rant!

  16. Just throwing it out there, I *rarely* use this but for extreme heat/humidity riding. A Thor impact rig se. It's made, I think, to be worn over a light shirt when moto racing but I wear it as an undergarment with a just loose jersey over. I have worn it alone under the Aerostich. Basically just armor laced together with a thin mesh shirt. Close to being shirtless in the wind, but armored up. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005CN5IX4/ref=cm_sw_r_pi_dp_y0-qvb0N7SVQ5
