Still amazed by this bike, after 20 + years. Here picking it up in New Orleans in 2004 on my 50th birthday, an incredible gift from my wonderful wife. The next year Hurricane Katrina would wash this shop away! The Rosso still runs strong....I compare it to my other Guzzi, a 2022 V85 Guardia d Onore, and it has about 100% more Guzzi soul. Yes, both the bike and the wife are keepers for life. Andy6 points

Leave it to Dr Peterson to so eloquently beard the lion. I've just moved to my new and presumably last home, after 26 years. No family so just a single guy's work and hobby junk. An amazing amount of crap. It forces one assign value to each item. I had to face the reality of the advice I had given a close friend not so long ago. He was bemoaning the amount of 'stuff' he had accumulated and didn't know where to begin. I told him that when he's gone, someone will walk through your things, look around, and throw most of it out. Little did I know at the time that he would pass within the year. Close family kept a small keepsake, auctioned or donated the rest. My girlfriend now gets to sort through her pile of belongings so her house can be sold. Country life awaits us. I have to buy a tractor. ... and a few other things3 points

They are a decorative lock nut for the pins. You need to use your judgement based on that. Hold the pin with the allen key and tighten the lock nuts tight enough to stop the pin backing off. Is a very fine thread so a little more than "nipped up" Phil3 points

This was always, and remained one of my major issue in life. But it started as soon as I started in life, not because I grew old. Because I spent 35 years of my life living in various countries, I have accumulated a lot of souvenirs that have punctuated my time there, good or bad. Fortunately, because my company only have assignments for three years, and limited shipping options, I lost a lot of my possessions which I still remember and miss dearly today. In particular my childhood stuff, which I had managed to keep intact until the passing of my parents. When I look at my "stuff" today, I realize that I need to start unloading, but I am unable to initiate the process. But I know I should.2 points

No, if they were in negotiations they would deny there is any truth to the rumor. No comment is what they say when it isn't true. That way they keep people guessing and talking about it.2 points

This is a warning for anyone who uses "torque tables" and torque wrenches . This was 25+ years ago and there were some dumb-dumbs that pulled the threads out of a small block Chevy main caps using the wrong torque value or just didn't know what they were doing or both. Do think about the application , bolt size , thread pitch , fastener material , dry or oiled threads , etc. BE CAREFUL . There are no unnecessary parts on a bike and you don't want anything falling off. With that being said , I can humbly say no one has cross threaded , twisted off , mucked up things any more than I have . I will challenge anyone past , present and future on this claim. I've been sorting bolts / nuts the past couple of weeks and finally bought these two metric / standard thread size boards. I would never buy them because of price and vanity. Now I can't see doing it w/o them.2 points

What I use, too. I bought the vernier calipers because I wanted one, and the thread gauges came with the tap and die set, one of the best buys amongst my tools. I've had so much use out of it. Anyway, @Lucky Phil how does the 3-wire and micrometer method work?1 point

Personally I prefer the much more compact, affordable and convenient set of thread gauges I have sitting on the Lathe. These and a set of 6" Vernia callipers tell me what I need to know about bolt size and thread pitch and profile. If it's really tricky I'll use my thread mike or the 3 wire and std Mike method. this has both standard/metric. Looks pretty good. I just purchased the style you posted pics of because they are everywhere around here !1 point

All of these older cars reminds me of an interview of Paul McCartney . He was describing Ringo mentioning that he drove a Zephyr Zodiac , as though it were the Batmobile .1 point

@gstallons, Do you have a link to the ones you ended up buying?1 point

Exactly ! I thought I was being feminine by doing this . After 10 mins , NO way . I had to shop around a couple of weeks to save about $40 on these but they are worth it. BTW , I have accumulated a lot of stuff and I am trying to make sure about the thread sizes . If anyone wants to blow some $ , this is a good investment.1 point

You don't want to use the generic torque for a 21mm or 22mm thread depending on the model that's for sure. Phil1 point

Pretty new to this Guzzi party, but here are mine. 1. Nero Corsa. Missed my chance for one or two of these. Another might come along. 2. Coppa Italia. Distinctive and beautiful 3. Scura R. Color, beauty and Ohlins. 4. Griso SE One of a kind in looks as only Italians can build. Except for that massive can. 5. Stelvio NTX. My SUV. Weather protection, comfy ergos for me, load carrying, mile eater. But a greenie could almost squeeze in there somewhere for that dazzling color.1 point

Some progress going thru the Coppa Italia, svingarm back on, carbon fender, alu plate in front of rear wheel, led rear light, startus interruptus, better ground, all connectors cleaned and treated, Caig D. Front part to do. Tires from 2014, wondering about Dunlop Sportsmart TT. Yes IPA time. Cheers Tom. Sent fra min SM-S906B via Tapatalk1 point
