I think you've got the record for zombie thread resurrection Mick. 13 years and 2 months! Phil5 points

Looks like that Ballabio has some serious competition. Decisions, decisions... https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1967-schwinn-rams-horn-fastback-bicycle-with-captain-kangaroo-advertisement/3 points

A "Well Known Fact". Comes up in conversation with my wife regularly. There is no rebuttal to a WKF, it is gospel. Once the immortal WKF is pronounced no further arguments will be considered Phil3 points

My son was going to take the 2000 as a 'tourer'. I told him that if he wanted one to keep forever and outfit for travel, this would be the one. I've bid on it.3 points

Strictly speaking, the blouse is optional with a RedFrame. Although, one must plan for the extra time to peel the chick off the magnet before the ride . . .3 points

Everyone SHOULD know about WKF's !!! After 46 years married I know them well. She's always right too ;-). It seems like every ride on a Guzzi results in some bit vibrating off completely or loosening at least. This is not the ultimate feature for a bike to have ! I need to start using more LocTite (Keep Your Nuts On - KYNO). Grant2 points

Despite assuring there are no issues with the external shifter parts, I still get occasional false neutrals or other funky shifting problems. So, with a heavy heart I pulled the shifter cover to see what's what. Before disassembly, it appears the detent roller could benefit from a tweak and that the eccentric adjustment was done with a yardstick. Downshifts and upshifts bring different points on the shift selector close to the adjuster, will set the tighter one to spec. Will upgrade to the super spring and smooth out the recommended surfaces in search of Japanese shifter delight. I'm sure there will be questions as things come apart.2 points

At that temperature, working in the garage is possible, and going for a ride is a good option as long as it is not raining. That's probably because I ride a long-frame Le Mans, and not one of those girl's-blouse short-red-frame things.2 points

Not mine. I just had the pleasure of riding it today. Michael has been doing a lot of work on this beast for its owner, (Who is a member here.) Apart from the cracked flywheel talked about elsewhere. It had lots of horrid little issues, and a few larger ones. Forks seals were shot, lots of missing fasteners and stuff, non existent state of ‘Tune’, buggered camchain tensioner, gearshift spring was changed prophylactically. Tuned and mapped. Anyway it’s passed it’s test. It is lovely! I took it for a brief flog, (It’s only 7*C here today!) it was like riding an angry dinosaur! Despite the missing fasteners and mechanical foul ups heaped upon it in the past it’s paint and plastic etc. is in outstanding shape. What a lovely motorbike?!2 points

Bill Hagan, aka “Ballabio Bill” from Docc’s initial Spine Raid rider turn out log. I remember a couple years ago, in the Spine Raid garage while drinking some Woodford Reserve Double Oaked 🥃, you talked so fondly about your long lost Ballabio, the one that got away. The BaT bike in question should live in the Moto Grappa, end of story. Real price is 5k, gotta have it no more than 6k even with the low miles.2 points

Love that low mileage like new Ballabio, wish it was closer to me as I’d love to have the two of them, just 93 sn’s apart. one with original Ballabio bars and mine with the Lemans bars and upper triple plate.1 point

Sweetest sounding canisters I ever heard on a V11 were the oval carbon fiber Gianelli on @andy york's LeMans. The deep, harmonious sonority was fabulous from behind. Which is where I always was relative to York's LeMans (pulling away through the corners). That said, I have never heard a bad sounding V11 SpineFrame.1 point

If it matters, in 2019 I bought a 2004 Ballabio with 4800 miles for $4950. Came with Staintunes, Hepco & Becker bags, Motobits pegs, Roper plate and other goodies.1 point

I would think MG Cycle would have/offer all these parts. I would patronize them (personal preference) first and see what they stock . The fr. brake master cyl is a 12mm bore and the rear brake is a 15mm bore. I THINK all the calipers are 32mm fr. & rr..1 point

I had problems with the lever sticking when downshifting and not returning to center. Suspecting the worst, I peered around and found that I had reversed the bolt on the front spherical joint on the shift linkage rod. This caused the nut (now on the inside) to foul the trans case just enough to stop the lever from returning. So, I pulled it all off, cleaned and lubed everything, ran the bolt with the head toward the inside with the nut and washer on the outside and happy shifting resumed. I also placed a thin 8mm mylar washer between the inner end of the shift lever pivot and the threaded tab on the frame. A good slathering or Mobil1 synth grease and a washer and locknut on the right side of the frame tab keep it all properly snug. As usual, access to install the washer and locknut required an interesting combo of nut and washer taped to the socket in conjunction with various wobbly extensions. A few bodily contortions later, it's all happily in place now. No bloody knuckles, a personal best.1 point

I have a couple posts to report after doing (most) of the Lucky Phil Shift Improvement. First, though, a big thanks to @Lucky Phil for sharing the technique and posting such great detail! My box shifted okay before, but definitely improved. My shift lever had been sticking down periodically, so I replaced the springs (along with the Chuck/Scud Superspring). Unfortunately, the sticking persisted after the new springs. And the plate did not seal upon reassembly, so I had to go back in. This time I changed the leaky shifter shaft seal and installed the McMaster-Carr roller bearing posted by @Craig back in 2016. Today, 205 miles, no leaks! And the new roller made my shift feel decidedly smoother and more precise. And no lever sticking! My original bearing was really peckered up as you can see in the image. It was grooved like this in several places around the surface: Yet > sigh < , my neutral switch is stuck on and I really don't want to go back in there. (I sealed that cover REALLY WELL this time.)1 point

Maybe, but because it is an Italian Mfg product I think they would not apply, but even so I face a 12 (5 +7) % federal and provincial sales taxes.0 points
