  1. Hmmmm . . . this is the only actual case of "the missing inner bearing" I recall?
  2. Never mind, I saw the red seat with Öhlins and got excited... Yes, it looks a bit like a Scura R, but has Marzhocchi forks. That red seat is kangaroo hide. The owner is an upholsterer, and he made an excellent job of covering the seat. It looks great. Which bike is that? Can you copy/paste an image?
  3. Pickup lines that never work... Try "in", Dave. " . . . right in" . . .
  4. Great time to look through the Tank Off Maintenance Checklist : http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18195&do=findComment&comment=203204
  5. I’ve got a box that needs to come apart. That inner seal would be a lot easier to get to without that pesky bearing in the way.
  6. I've found it helpful to confirm availability by phone with all the suppliers. It is common for the website to be out of date. Not sure if shipping into Canada slows things down at the border?
  7. All right: "my bad" . . . The RedLine products are extraordinary and use full synthetic group 5 base oils. The "ShockProof" (as I understand) incorporates a synthetic "moly-like" (molybdenum disulfate / MoS2) substance to protect against the high shear of gear contact. Great stuff. Love their products and the ShockProof series should be on everyone's list of "lubricants of interest" for the gearbox and reardrive. It is just the "RLSP/Heavyweight" that may deserve some extra attention on fill volumes and extended change intervals.
  8. I feel better already about my going astray . . . (My comments about RLSH/Heavy are just my observations.) luhbo, is this the choice for MoS2?
  9. My apologies for the inevitable diversion. Back to our regularly scheduled program?
  10. Agreed. Yet, I had already struggled with misjudging the change volume in the reardrive (overfilling). I'm not saying it's bad lube, just *be aware* of how much of it remains in the cases.
  11. Yeah, I used to swear by it. Be aware of how much volume its congealed nature may consume inside your cases . . .
  12. what are you using in it ? or did I miss something ? was really curious as to what you are using in that high mileage test unit of yours. thanks I have used everything imaginable in the Sport's *checkered* reardrive. I'm currently considering sawdust as an additive . . . Seriously, if you ever look at that image of what Scud found with RL Red/Heavy in the gearbox, it will give you pause putting it in anything. It is not for the squeamish to cast their gaze upon . . .
  13. Original post: " . . . sometimes when I hit the starter button then engine spins normally and sometimes I get absolutely nothing ." That is so characteristic of the "bullet connectors" from the Clutch Switch. Cleaning, tightening, and sealing the battery terminals (with petroleum jelly/ Vaseline®) is important/ critical as well! Glad to hear you are rolling! + =
  14. I swore off the RL Heavy long ago from its tendency to "cling" and contribute to overfilling/ possibly contributing to leaks. After seeing those awful images from the inside of one of Scud's gearboxes with the gigantic clots of RL/Heavy: never again. I imagine how much the actual circulating volume is reduced by those gigantic clots of goop. Motor: Redline 20W-50 Group 5 Full Synth/ 5,000 mile changes Gearbox: RL ShockProof "Lightweight" (blue) Rear drive: still leaks
  15. I’m rather glad they not keep him around beyond that one splash.
  16. Looks like time to lay eyes on lifter faces . . . with a mind toward the relative cam lobes . . . With the rockers out of the way, the push rods can be extracted from above (with the barrels yet in place), but the lifters cannot?
  17. See? That Terblanche segue my be why Moto Guzzi hasn't gone out on a limb since . . . What year was that?
  18. Well, the OP said "moto-books" . . . So, I would go as far as suggesting Ed McCabe, "Against Gravity". A story about trying to hang in there, and compete in the infamous Paris-Dakar Rallye-Raid (when it still actualy left from Paris and went to Dakar, Senegal).
  19. "Lila" had wheels, but they were all turning in her head . . .
  20. Anyone with a Big Twin Guzzi must have Greg Field's Moto Guzzi Big Twins!
  21. Here is one Meinolf post on the CO fuel trim: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18652&p=199545
  22. I recall some the Sport 1100-i had asymmetric gauge faces. Thje later Daytonas as well? Very racy! (and authentic . . .)
  23. Let me help out. As a moderator should, after all . . .
  24. I ran my Sport for too many years with the CO Fuel Trim set at minus 27. Andy York corrected it for me. One of the three or four greatest things ever for my V11. So, if your CO is off *a little*, correcting it will likely help the idle. If it's off *a lot* it can help everything about the fueling. YMMV
