  1. After much ado, epoxy, colorful language, and spectacular disassembly, I found this split secondary gear:
  2. The early (1999-2002) white face Veglia speedometer angle drives have long been known to be problematic (at best!) So much so, that Moto Guzzi superseded them in 2003 with the "bent tube" cable ends and the black face ITI gauges. Unfortunately, they, too, proved less than reliable. Trouble is, there is very limited space to direct a cable up from the right side top of the gearbox while clearing the throttle linkage. I was hoping to coax my third Veglia speedometer to the 100,000 mile mark, but *alas* . . . While it recently developed the common sporadic jumping and wagging, I found some improvement pressing the lower angle drive back together. Briefly. So, after removing the drive and attempting to press it well together . . . the speedo quit entirely.

  5. That makes perfect sense. I thought it odd that the spade connection on the solenoid itself is duplex. That appears factory, but no?

  8. "platform jack" = check, gotta get one! Certainly before the next big refit! I was recently observed Knolling tools while fettling a V11 with a variety of dental picks, tissue probes, scalpel, hemostats, jeweler's files, and one very fine French medical graduated cylinder. Sure, it's not *rocket surgery* (or is it? ) . . .

  12. I had the fine fortune to help fettle a Rorso Corsa recently. While the rear-set foot shifter needed a good bit of attention, the starter had to come away for good access. That led to a full session of disconnecting/cleaning/*Vaseline-ing* the (loose) battery terminal stacks, (loose) ECU ground, main gearbox case ground, and the (loose) starter positive cable. My early Sport doesn't have this wire. What the what?

  15. You guys crack me up. I love this community! I just refitted one of these shifter mechanisms on a Rosso Corsa yesterday that was so jacked up. We counted like eight or ten things that needed to be seen-to to get it *right.* Rear-set linkages have long been known to be Rube Goldberg machines!

  19. Have Marty post a photo - we know yer too fussy fer that kind if sh#& anyway. (While yer at it get some decent relays pushed in to the blocks . . . . ) Maybe he could give us that sound byte of your ride-by. That thing's got to sound like a low flying radial aircraft!

SOooo, the *Invest99L* tropical development currently over Cuba may give this region a rain event next (Labor Day) weekend, but (if all is well with The Universe) may suck a tremendous high pressure dome over us like a Sno-Cone on a sandy beach . . . . . . funny thing . . . about having spare keys . . . now there are *numerous* riders I know with a spare key at hand. (That, rather nefarious, key did re-present itself, but only after a memorable day of learning experiences / we thought we had it "licked" by removing the ignition switch, only to discover about a hundred miles away that the key would be needed to refuel! If you need a locksmith in a small town on a Sunday afternoon for something as obscure as these Moto Guzzi, you will do no better than to find a retired US Navy Chief/ bonded locksmith that will absolutely NOT quit until the mission is accomplished.

    Wot, you getting too old for HH Docc? Hey! I *resemble* that remark! No, seriously, I wonder what the OEM spec Brembo pads are rated? GG? I had thought that HH EBC contributed to the demise of my original front Brembo rotors. And I don't like the way my rear rotor looks after these HH EBC have had their way with them.
