  1. My guess is when they ran out of them..
  2. When I was trying to find out what had been done to the Mighty Scura, I just called him. He keeps records and remembered the bike. Gave me the number when he flowed the heads, but it's lost in my failing memory. He did say it was one of the best he had done on a Guzzi. Told me to set the titanium pushrod valve gaps at .002" and .003". Said he didn't put the engine together, but set it up for the Mega Cycle cam. Which one? Sorry, don't remember. I was only concerned about getting the valve gap right at the time.
  3. "Cant see any reason for such a weighty rear wheel, its almost as if they went out of their way to make it extra heavy." You never know. .someone might want to put a hack on one.
  4. Have you cleaned the contacts on the horn itself?
  5. I think it's just paint. Testors (the model company) makes that color.
  6. Every thing firewall forward is formed aluminum. It only took me 12 years to build. 044 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr
  7. "'m reminded of something guitar virtuoso Eric Johnson said about getting "good" (paraphrasing) "it's not how many years you play, It's how many hours" I put in the hours on guitar.. even won a regional contest in Ohio.. then finally realized I am a mechanic. Don't have any talent. The same goes with panel beating. It's a learned skill, but still requires talent.
  8. Google the program download "Convert." I've been using it for probably 20 years. Converts about anything to anything else except that lead to gold thing isn't there.
  9. Thanks for that.
  10. They have been out of grease since the 80s..no doubt an economy move by DeTomaso.
  11. Sounds like a good find all right, Ian. Mike Haven MPH cycles may still have one.
  12. I feel your pain. One time, I sat in the very back row of a Fokker RJ out of Burlington Vt. The bulkhead slants fwd so you can't lean back at all, and the guy next to me took up his seat and mine. Maybe they won't sweat too bad..
  13. Cheaper than chrome? You sure it's not zinc cad plated?
  14. Yes, there are.. comma but if the plastic ring doesn't seal, it will still leak around it. (I think)
  15. There's probably a gasket on the end of the flange..
  16. I got your Winter right here, pal..
  17. No no no no.. a quarter turn.. wouldn't want to be thought an amateur..
  18. Typically outrageous Guzzi spec? 80 ft lbs, or as Pete says, "until you fart" is more than enough. IMHO, take Guzzi torque specs with a large grain of salt. When I was building the aero engine, I found an M7 bolt that was supposed to be torqued to 22 ft. lbs, or something like that. Use a little common sense.
  19. Not trying to be snarky here, but can't you just go out to the shed and measure them?
  20. Yeah, where are the hammers? Third drawer down..
  21. I've been needing some new bling for the Guzzi Garage.. 2017-12-06_01-14-42 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr
  22. I'm guessing.. and it's only a guess.. that it's the two hoses that come from the airbox, called hose, breather pipe.
  23. Chuck

    1/4 Scale

Meh. It doesn't run.. Just kidding..
  24. Busy. Gots to make some springs and an engineering drawing to send to Scud.. I'll get it up, though. Uhhh, things take a while at my age.
  25. True.. true. But that's in the house. I'll hang the V11 stuff in the Guzzi Garage.™
