I saw Deep Purple with a couple weeks to go in my senior year of high school in '72. Machine Head had just come out. We had a caravan of about 6 of us. They were the loudest band in history according to Guiness and of course, we right in front of the PA. They played most of the record that we'd been groovin' and the two previous records. Blackmore, Gilian, Lord, Paice The opening band was Long John Baldry, subbing for Edgar Winter White Trash- rumor was they were "jumped". "Don't talk about Boodgie Woodgie to the King of Rock and Roll". Next band was Nazareth, "Love Hurts" was on the charts. Perry cool show. No seats by the way. I couldn't do that today -hurtin' from just workin' the garden.

Gallows Pole showed that folk based "acoustic" music could combine with heavy metal. The bass, vocals and drums are blazing, along with acoustic guitars and banjos. Saw Zep play it in '70 before the record was out.... IIRC saw Plant & Page play it twice. I think it's a brilliant "meld" and forerunner to "roots" and "alternative". Now we have "heavy" Bluegrass. This is fav from Zep 3 with the Page & Plant show. I really love the rhythm of the instrumental ending ... I might suggest the Alison Krauss - Plant stuff too.

How about 1:00 at Click's steakhouse in Pawnee? They have everything from burgers to steaks. We might get the word out to any folks with an interest. Pawnee Bill's state park is pretty neat with it's view. SInce you're doing the rally, you might try the Mexican food at the Ponca City Airport while you're there.

It may be perfect and if not, it's just more money and time. Yep, they ride great and look great. They can be a little temperamental given that we have an entire website forum community keeping these voluptuous minxes on the road (I won't call them "fat"). Doubtful you see a deeper, more diverse, low density community than this one. Most of the stuff you'll need done has come from here, like the bellhousing bracket, shift springs, Roper plate and the like. Talk about dedication. We ride 'em too, Docc's got 100+k miles on his, mine's broken 50k.

red frames need to have brace on the bellhousing.. You should order one if it's not on the bike.

@p6xUse the run off area. I've done several MSF courses. That first slalom among cones took me a couple of times before I got my rhythm. So just relax and give yourself some time. It's not a competition. They're trying to teach things that expand your muscle memory and hand-eye, not reinforce what you're doing. If you breeze through it meant you didn't learn anything new. If you struggle at something, you have more to practice and learn; that's what you came for. None of us here can ride like Rossi, well perhaps Hugo, Docc and Chuck....but the rest of use are mere mortals.

I'm getting the Greenie back tomorrow. Rode it today before I rode the Mandello. It's pretty stout, broken bolt replaced, new tires and brakes, Brembo levers (free) and dyno tuned .... wont outrun the Mandello in a straight line, right now I'd take the Sport in the twisties. So far as a beauty contest, Green wins. Got the EV back, runs better than in many years. I'll be Guzzi @100% tomorrow or the next day.

Finally got to ride one. White Base Model. The bike rips and I only had it in T mode. I got it well over 90 criss crossing traffic in a couple of miles of city Interstate. Certainly faster than any Guzzi I've ridden. Didn't quite feel like a Guzzi, I didn't notice any torque dip with the throttle. The bike was little more upright -I could use a little more rear tuck with the pegs. It was stable in traffic, great pick up from the engine and sharp brakes. So far as handling, I didn't have a chance to run it in many curves, the riding position could be better IMO with a little more leverage for the pegs. No doubt that's a rider's preference deal. In tour mode those little wings deployed and the bike was stable in very strong sidewind. The owner told me that he could feel the difference when the active aero was on. I'd say the closest bike would be the Yamaha 900 sport tourer in feel and performance. The only thing I didn't like was chintzy header covers. They just gotten the Green one in presold.

I've never had an issue regarding shaft drive and the handling of my Guzzis, turn left or right, on the gas, on the brake, downshift, not an issue. I've heard that was a problem with older Beemers, some turn sharp one way and understeer the other. Since I've not ridden them, I don't know. But never had that issue with my Guzzis.

@GuzziMoto The soil there caliche. Which is used to make cement. When it dries it's very hard. I'm not sure if it shifts when it gets wet.

The EV doesn't have the idle adjustment screw like the Sport.

@GuzziMoto They've been dropping like flies this year. COTA lost 1/3 field. First and third places crash within a couple of laps. Rins won the first time there after MM#39 crashed from the lead. It's a tricky place with uneven pavement and lots of bumps.

Rins is a two time COTA winner. So the track suits him too. @p6x

yeah, I was only considering the locks for the brackets that attach to the bike. So far as the locks on the cases. One ea should be sufficient. That will save you two. They claim for safety reasons that one latch should be locked when you ride.
