  1. Consider it done! many times I bet?
  2. yeah, I doubt if the old aircooled Thruxton would have the beans to run a V11. But my friend Darren can certainly keep up with his on the road. OTOH, I would guess that the new watercooled Thruxton would probably reverse the tables.
  3. Docc. You have to do the voodoo dance and rattle the box of springs like bones. And then rub your hands in used motor oil.
  4. I did see a thread on WG where a fellow soldered the coil pack back together. It was the thread I used to learn how to get the bezel off (hose clamp). Luckily mine was only the counterweight.
  5. Saweet. Thank you. Alas, cable operated gauges only. really? he wouldn't work on it?
  6. PA. you might try Joel Levine repair. https://joellevinecompany.com/Speedo-Tach-Repair
  7. I am at the end of trip planning. Meaning, you're on your own, there is no rally master, enter at your own risk! Here are some maps that you can download and print (jpg). You'll have to work your own GPS, print the maps, etc. The routes to lunch are different, the return routes from lunch are the same. Here are two routes to Oark. Technical Route (Hwy 123): 155 miles to lunch, 253 miles total Alternate Route (Hwy 21): 120 miles to lunch, 218 miles total Here are two routes to Mtn View Technical Route (Hwy 341): 130 miles to lunch, 207 miles total Peel Ferry Route: 144 miles to lunch, 222 miles total
  8. OK, the idea of drilling the cush rubber is to take shock out of the driveline for the purpose of a smoother ride or preventing driveline failure. Perhaps that contributed to my cracked my transmission? And all along I was blaming my right wrist.
  9. I was thinking that we might go to the Diner in Oark Ark for lunch on Friday. And ride to lunch on Saturday at Mi Pueblito (Mexican) in Mountain View Ark. And you might be interested in the Guitar Thumbpicking Picking Workshop at the Ozark Cultural Center scheduled the same weekend. http://www.ozarkfolk....aspx?id=155899 And I am open to suggestions from the locals for better choices. The lunch rides are approx 225-270 mile r/t depending on the route. All roads will be twisty and scenic with some routes more challenging than others. There is also a Ferry into Missouri across Bull Shoals Lake. Arkansas also has recommended rides and some that route to our lunch towns https://www.arkansas.com/motorcycling/ So far as Harrison goes, it looks like a Fiddler's Convention and Crawdad Days Music Fest is going on. So if you had a long ride to get to Harrison and want to hang in town rather than go for lunch rides, it looks like there is plenty to do in town. (And there's motorcycle poker run too!) https://www.harrison...nth=5&year=2018 Between this board and Wild, it looks like we're getting several fellow travelers for this one. Should I guess maybe ten to a dozen? Sorry, I double posted this thread. I don't know how to merge them

  11. serious question for you Docc. I am getting a new shock built for me. I need it stiffer in the rear for highway weave issue when riding with the big HB bags. But I am afraid, if the shock is too stiff, I'll lose the quick handling I love about the bike. I've ordered a remote preload adjuster but I hope it's not too stiff where it won't handle in the twisties. How did the suspension upgrade change your bike?
  12. Docc, does your fork feel a little wimpy?
  13. I am not sure my left ankle has a million shifts left in it.
  14. Good point, CZ. The oil is beaten like a scrambled egg. I would assume once the oil is broken down that fork is a little wimpy?
  15. Docc, Always good. I suppose. There is no combustion and the forks are sealed from dirt and grime. It's a total PIA to do. I only do it to change out the seals and bushings. Since there is no expected life limits on those items, I only do it when I see a leaky seal or felt that the fork action isn't responsive. The only time I wanted a fork apart that wasn't leaking was on my Bandit, it was upgraded with better springs and Race Tech gold valves, made a huge difference. The Greenie seems better to me than the after the Suzuki was upgraded. Anyway, I am ordering a new rear shock, working on oil leaks and wondering about the servicing the fork that isn't leaking. I am still of the opinion "if it ain't broke...."
  16. So what is the reason to drill holes in the rubber in cush drive? It seems like it would flex more and cause the rubber to deteriorate.
  17. the big question: if the seals aren't leaking should I bother with service? I say, no. I need guidance and advice.
  18. I have a Stop and Go plug kit and I also keep a Slime compressor with me. I've used the compressor more times than I can remember. It works fine, it's a little tricky to thread on the valve stem. I've used the plug kit twice. Once on the rear of my EV and another on the right front on my Isuzu Trooper. Neither tire ever leaked. I carry both with me when I travel in my Corvette which has run flat tires and no spare or jack. I am not sure I would find a nail because the car is low to the ground and the tires are very wide. I highly recommend both the Stop and Go kit and the Slime compressor. I seldom ride a motorcycle without those in my tank bag.
  19. let me ask, does more fluid make it stiffer? Wait, more sex talk. nevermind.
  20. No need to talk about your sex life, Docc. I think you might be posting on the wrong forum.
  21. So far as I can tell, too much is never enough here. You might go blind if you read about the alternator light.
  22. why not take the contents of oil drained from the forks and measure that? That would be good yardstick on how much to refill?
  23. that's more equipment than I have now. And think about it Skate and The Great One are out & about and having a ball. Maybe they know what they're doing? They might have more fun doing shit than we have talking about it.
