swooshdave Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 I'm gone from Photobucket (die in hell), Flickr (join them) and now on Imgur.com. I'm hoping that billions of memes will not be suddenly blacked out. The internet might stop working...
docc Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 Looks like if I want to re-post existing image attachments that are stored on (or for) V11LM.c, I should re-source them and host them externally, on like imgzeit. Unless a thumbnail will do . . . Perhaps the Admins have a procedure that an existing image "attachment" in the profile can be re-posted . . . .
bbolesaz Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 OK, how to I place an image in a post. The image is hosted on another website (not imgzeit). FOUND IT. Click "Other Media" in the lower right corner, select "Insert image from URL", put your https (must be https) link for the image in the box. 2
docc Posted June 17, 2021 Posted June 17, 2021 Yeah, somehow this forum's image management system no longer uses "BBCode" like it used to, but displays "direct" links beginning with "https", but NOT beginning and ending with [img] as BBCode does. 1

Reviewing this thread, It is probably worth emphasizing what @bbolesaz posted about "https." Not just "http", the "s" is required to post a link. Think "s" = "secure." And, again, "BBcode", that begins and ends with "[img]", will no longer display. Paste "Copy Image Link" to posts or use "direct" (https) links to display images.

Some sites block the "Copy Image Link" (sometimes called "Hot Linking") from displaying. 1

I tested/posted a "Hot Link"/"Copy Image Link" today with no problem, but I can't see the size of the file. The size shouldn't matter (in spite of what you may have heard ) if the image link is pasted, rather than the image, itself. Pretty share we have waded out of my pay grade though . . . 1

Thing is, when I up the limit, the server space runs out really fast. The file size of camera images is getting bigger and bigger. And I don't have a server park like Google or Meta available It's easy to reduce image size online, f.i. with these tools: https://www.img2go.com/compress-image or https://www.iloveimg.com/compress-image 2

But I'm editing photos taken on an 8 year old LG phone. Even the Chinese spy network doesn't support it anymore. 1 3
