I've been sharing this tip with others exploring the charging needs of the V11. After I recently replaced far too many components, I ran a direct wire from the battery to the Reg/Rec, and all is well. This additional positive lead was all it needed to behave as intended. I've since put a few thousand miles on the bike, some fairly lengthy rides, not a problem! Best to you, @orangem2

hmmm, at $5.50 each, plus shipping, plus harness assembly; Caspers adapter is a good value ($40 shipped).

Recently, I tried to find and purchase a few of these connectors, wanting to create my own TPS adapter. Partly to save money, but also because I'm a geek. I had no luck finding any. I'll try these links, thanks!

@Colorobo, I could not locate those connectors. I originally got them for the seal and likely handed out the extras as Spine Raid party favors. Were you able to get what you need for the repair?

Private Equity is Killing MotorcyclesGuzziMoto replied to Joe's topic in Special place for banter and conversation Private equity can be good or bad. It can provide funds for growth and expansion. But it can also focus too much on returns (profits). If that happens, a common path is to increase profitability by cutting costs. That often leads downwards, to eventual destruction of the brand.

He's been to the doggo opthomologist. Heelers get a genetic deterioration of the retina, and the toxins from debris actually cause the cataracts. He was completely night blind and couldn't catch a frisbee anymore in the daytime before the cataracts showed up. She said we could remove them, but she was not optimistic that it would improve anything.

My SnapOn went over a few months ago. I had to use my overhead chain hoist to get it back up.

Private Equity is Killing Motorcyclesdocc replied to Joe's topic in Special place for banter and conversation Brings to mind the Moto Guzzi ownership by Trident Rowan Group 1996-1999, possibly related to "Finprogetti" assuming ownership from DeTomaso as early as 1994. This ("private equity group?") ownership is what produced the 1999-2001 V11 Sport, somehow integrating the design of Luciano Marabese, before Ivano Beggio/"Aprilia" assumed ownership around 2000-ish. Very interesting to look at the 1994-1999/2000 transition period at Moto Guzzi, considering the model development in that time. It is hard to say that killed any motorcycles. In fact, it spawned quite a few new models and effectively saved Moto Guzzi until the Piaggio ownership took over around 2005, twenty years ago, now! Approaching DeTomaso's twenty-three year tenure, 1973-1996, but nowhere near the Parodi's forty-five year ownership (1921-1966).

He still looks in good heath, you can get his cataracts fixed. Phil

The fragile white plastic collar between the male spade connector and the bulb socket. Bulbs are 3 watt T9
-
That was my plan. 'Light connectors'- do you mean the tach connectors? The lamp connectors are on the sockets. BTW who has the cross number for the bulbs?
-
There is no way in hell, you a not going to get her to run good with quite a few knowledgeable fellows around. Cheers Tom.

I recall reinforcing those attachment points with JB Weld. edit: I looked for an image, but settled for pulling my instruments out of the cabinet to look. Yep, JB Weld to secure the mounting posts to the cans, plus JB Weld to reinforce the fragile plastic collar beneath the light connectors.

Small progress. Everything I touched needed cleaning, new fasteners, repairs, bulbs... Tomorrow, fix the per-usual detached tach stud.

I realised today that I'm probably not going to have too much to write here for the next couple of weeks. To get a lift, I'm going to need a day off during the week. The logistics are a little complicated. The next time that will happen is the 17th. Nov. . On top of that, I'll be working more hours in November. Someone is off sick. She normally does 24 hours a week. I normally do 32, as do two others. To cover the "missing" hours, we have been asked to go up to 40 hours for November. Maybe I'll find an hour here or there. I'll keep you all posted.

Found some nice sized plugs, theads are...workable, so meh

Unless there's a running issue I wouldn't worry about a leak down check. If you really want something to do then just do a simple compression test and if you find low compression then go for the leak down. The comp test you can do anywhere with an economical/borrowed compression tester. Phil

Same Bosch unit as contemporary Ducati Monster if I am not mistaken.

My headlight bucket has had a hole cut in the back of it, perhaps for an LED then covered by a bottle cap and glue. One of the mounting threads is stripped requiring a nut. Anybody have a usable bucket laying around? This one will work but I don't have to like it.

Private Equity is Killing MotorcyclesJoe replied to Joe's topic in Special place for banter and conversation Phil, Ducati is a subsidiary of Lamborghini, which is itself owned by Audi, which in turn is owned by the Volkswagen Group, per Google of course.
