  1. Hi, Docc. I shipped one to @Kenblake on July 25, so maybe that is an old one. Haven't heard from @roktbox. They went out today..thanks for keeping tabs on this.

  2. Well the bike itself i don’t have a problem with- his bike to do with as he pleases, and i like certain aspects of it. The write-up however… Points that got me included: 91 hp- Has anyone actually achieved that figure on here? “built before the invasion of complex electronic gadgetry“ - ok so it doesn’t have abs or holeshit technology, but still pretty complex… it’s no monza anyway 😀. No plastic? Literally all the bodywork, including the mudguards and the damn tank, is plastic. Which leads me to: “To further reduce the bikes weight (something V11’s are notorious for) Omar continued the use of aluminium for the remainder of the bodywork”. Changing these parts to allyminnyum is gonna save no weight at all. Plus the genuinely heavy components like the wheels, swingarm and bevel drive remain. “sportsbike handling” … now i love my v11, and i’ll throw her about (a bit), but c’mon. “more creative design than what the Moto Guzzi factory gave it” @#!#$# off- Marabese created a triumph of lines and shapes with this bike.

  3. Alrighty, I shot him a pm. I have another way to reach out, but will give it a couple days. Let me know if there are others who need a "prompt" . . . Thanks, again, Chuck for this Latest Last Run.

  4. Thanks, I'm going with ease of maintenance, looks, and if it ain't broke don't fix it! Might start to play around with creatively mounted side covers though ...

  5. I'm planning on coming but for a 6 1/2 hour ride I'll probably wimp out and bring the Norge.

  6. There's some good craftsmanship, and some nice features, and better looking than several custom jobs I've seen. But overall, this just shows how hard it is to improve on the V11's original design. As as for critique - all that time and money on aesthetics, but don't upgrade the shock? I don't get it.

  7. Origins of this "spring" Kentucky SpineRaid are couched in the experience of riding, together, out over right roads, in "a cross between greased lightning and the place where it hits " with other V11 up to the task.

  8. Taking a more thorough look at the text, I find a couple points to comment on . . . "When Moto Guzzi created the V11 they had a team of professional designers and a massive budget behind them . . . " Er, well, no. One designer drew the V11 Sport in one night ("after the Gambalunghino"), notably unasked-for by Moto Guzzi. And "massive budget?" At Moto Guzzi? That must be a joke. " . . . the bikes weight (something V11’s are notorious for) . . . " [sic] Compared to some stripped down sportbike? Maybe. Compared to other "sport-tourers" (whatever that is)? Probably right on the mark. Compared to the vast majority of bikes on the road here in The States? Absolutely svelte. With my pannier load-out, mySport is out of fuel at about 500 pounds/227kg. No mention of what this custom actually weighs for comparison, but leaving the (relatively heavy, unsprung) factory wheels while possibly using oversize tires (a common "look" for this genre) doesn't really address the "notoriety" reference. I really do not dislike the fellow's outcome. Just throwing in on the "critique." The effort to clean up the wiring harness along the exposed spine frame is actually epic and had to be A LOT of work!

  9. I bought my bike with the stock airbox and custom map, it runs great from idle to wide open, so I guess I got lucky.

  10. Due to popular demand we have decided to add an extra weekend for all the South'n (US) Spine Raider's for 2023, so how about a spring Kentucky Spine Raid a little farther north around Dale Hollow Lake area? As for a date, seems we were thinking the weekend between Mothers' Day and Memorial day . . . (Seven months out, at this point). May 19-21, 2023 Consider the discussion started, thoughts?

  11. I’ve gotta share this V11 custom build write-up. As I read it my eyebrows went up and up and i think they went over the top of me head and fell off behind me. Soooo much absolute bull… https://www.returnofthecaferacers.com/moto-guzzi-cafe-racer/moto-guzzi-v11-cafe-racer/?utm_term=Autofeed&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook&fbclid=IwAR27foPMCvc7c5RvCXFCFeGFryPm4ZIzVGk6xu7d-jE6D-Bf_yLFcEgwnXI#Echobox=1667972378

  12. Ok, clean bike, but a red frame listed as an improved by Aprilia 2004. Good price, and again clean. https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/mcy/7554713046.html

  13. Well, I believe I got the Very Last Genuine MotoModa plate directly from Pete. Last I heard from Pressureangle, he still has a few of these "P.Roper Authorized" Rusty Star Picket plates available . . .

  15. Hey, @obliviousmonkey, pretty sure @Pressureangle monitors this thread, but just for extra measure I used the "@" notifier. If he doesn't get back to you pretty soon, consider clicking on his username and using the forum's "Message" feature . . .

  19. Like so many have already said, if you are happy with how it runs now with pods, leave it. It could run slightly better and make a better spread of power if you went back to the stock airbox, but it sounds like doing so would open up its own can of worms as it sounds like it has been tuned to work well enough with the pods. Changing it back would likely mean additional tuning required to get it to run best with the stock airbox. The pods will give up a small amount of performance, but the trade off is a gain in the looks dept (at least in my opinion). If the performance with pods is good enough to you, I would leave it. If you aren't happy with the way it runs, I would put the stock airbox back on and go from there. But just as tuning is required to make it run acceptably with pods, tuning would likely be required to get it to run right with the stock airbox after it has been tuned to run right with pods.

  21. The top end difference is so noticeable when comparing the two. One would think at 80mph, nothing more is really needed, but in SoCal, we do. Since Covid (not exactly sure why), the fast lane is 90+, all day, everyday. It wasn't all that long ago, 7mph was my default for going over the limit, speeding ticket safe. It almost seems the police are never out any longer. On the V7, it's difficult for me to stay in the carpool/fast lane, as I don't like to go over 80-85mph. The V11, however …whew, love this throttle!

  22. Once or twice, I have seen the sidecovers creatively mounted over the pods.

  23. honestly I like the pods, the easier maintenance, plus the look ... but I do like those plastic side pieces with the little italian colors that cover the airbox ...

  24. "Approximated" might be a better term than "tuned?" Like others have said, if you are fine with the way it runs and like the way it looks . . . no problem!

  25. Taking the tank off to service the air filter is a pita,,, but it's a treat changing the filter compared to the old cylinder paper filter on early big block Tontis (Reason why most have K&Ns) If the bike runs good & strong, I think it would be a very personal choice. If you're not bothered that it's not stock and some purists may look down their noses at you for deviating from the design for poorer filtration; Is that a headache you want to take on, or is there possibly some other job that the bike might benefit more from? I remember how simple it sounded when I removed the air box from my Tonti, I'm glad I did it, but it was the job from hell, with a lot of little pieces that had to seal well to work properly. It may look easy to reinstall the stock air box, but there are probably little fastening bits, brackets, boots etc etc, possibly other things have been moved to or installed in that empty space by previous owners as well. fwiw ymmv

  27. Finished up and they will go out tomorrow. Probably.

  28. it's not a big deal if it runs 'ok'. If you want to rest assured that you have a well engineered and optimal air intake, use the stock airbox. Pods are for those who are tech savvy enough to tune for them.

  29. The V7 is a little jewel. Light, handling is superb, you just notice it running out of a little oomph when you up to speed or accelerating for passing.

  31. @kalev11, I don't have a PM with your mailing address yet. To those that have asked, once they are finished and made it through the extensive inspection by the Chief Inspector, the Shipping Department will send them out and tell me how much each package cost to mail. I will then PM you with actual cost. The easiest way is Paypal, especially overseas shipments.
