  1. I would like to have seen the factory airbox in the pile to "return it to original" . . . Chicks run off with these things all the time.

  5. I'm always amazed to find that ... most? MG riders, at least those who put on a lot of miles, simply ignore cleaning their bikes. I'm not a museum keeper, but the BMW GSA I've put near 20k miles on was not near this soupy, even though I never washed it more thoroughly that a quick sponge and ride in the rain. This thing looked like a big block chevy out of a 1975 motorhome with 100k miles on it. Not trying to be harsh, but DANG boy.

  6. Great pics! So nice to see a Goldwing, Norge also comfortable amongst the Spine Raiders!

  7. What a nice Coppa! Now that I see that people are not frowned on for trailering, maybe I'll do the same next year, in as much as I enjoy riding long distances, the Scura has no bags for required gear other than a rear tail bag...ideas, ideas!

  8. Thanks for posting that, Kevin, as I had not realized I might have captured you not "looking your best." In my own case, my best has been pretty low rent since the '90's! Seriously, I have been chronicling SSR's since the first. I take (quite literally) hundreds of amateurish pix and then cull those down to (still too many) ones and post them here and, occasionally, another Guzzi forum. That culling process is often hurried. In this case, commitments and chores on our return meant I didn't even get to add captions to the pix. I like those as if the pix don't insult the victims enough, the captions add a coup de grâce. But, "sneaky," no, at least ever intentionally. Now, as do all "historians," I may take liberties with the truth, but that is almost always in the sense of not posting unflattering pix of me, e.g., a sullen look, picking my nose, or one that highlights my avoirdupois. Heck, maybe that's why I take the pix anyway, i.e., to have few of me and delete any that I get that others take -- at least with my camera. For example, Kathi -- who ALWAYS looks better than I do -- asked someone to get a pic of the two of us. This: As always, Kathi looks great; I failed to "suck it in," so ... yup, I didn't post it in the slideshow, thus proving that I, too, am not immune from vanity. Finally -- OK, almost -- I often take pix (especially of the posed kind such as the one you complained about) in "bursts," and then choose the one in which the fewest people are blinking or whatever. In the case of the one of the three of you, Josh, and Adam, I only took two, did not study those intently, thus posted the one you did not like. Here's the other: As I peck out this TLDR response to your concern, both the original and this are in the slideshow. Unless I hear differently from you, I'll sub the second for the original, as I think it does show you in a better light without making Josh and Adam less handsome than their actual selves. [Edited to say "done." ] Now, happily for all reading this, I have to go tend to one of those back-home tasks. The plumber crew will be here in about 15 minutes for their second day of work on our septic system. They are “renewing” our Alternative Septic System’s peat mo$$, and will leave with $12K of our moto-money! I now know why scotch whisky is so expensive. I wish I had known that peat moss was so dear when I chose my legal career. But “Greta” wasn't around then, so I had no idea that to save the Chesapeake Bay I need to pump the contents of our fluids’ tank to an ASS — a fitting acronym — with its pricy peat moss before it was declared clean enough. Grrrrr. Bill P.S. Nothing above, Kevin, is meant to make light of your knee pain. After a career in the Army, involving as it did, routinely running in boots on pavement, jumping out of airplanes in the 82d Airborne Division, and other "fun," my own knees are shot, so I quite literally "feel your pain." Best wishes with yours, with the hope that both of us can ride for a long time to come.

  11. Now I know how Josh felt when he said Bill never got a picture of him smiling. Bill can be sneaky with his camera. I mean you want to catch people being natural and not poising all the time but that doesn't always tell the whole story. My knee ain't so good doesn't bother me riding but I can't stand on it long. Might not always look my best.

  15. Have been hanging out here since February - trying to learn stuff - when I bought a nice low mileage 2001 V11S. Rode 6K fun miles between then and August, with no drama, and then the charging system started acting up: first overcharging and destroying a new Odyssey battery, and now, the charging light comes on and stays on when the engine hits 4K rpm. I've been through the ten or so threads on here related to charging, and have learned quite a bit. This is forum is an amazing source of Guzzi knolwedge! So I bought and have installed a new Voltage Regulator (ESR515) and Stator (ESG814) from Electrosport. Still, the charge light comes on at 4K rpm. Put my voltmeter on AC and on the two yellow wires coming from the stator: 19v at idle/1K rpm, and 60v when revved to 3K rpm. My Workshop Manual says these AC volts should be 15v at 1K and 40v at 3K rpm. Contacted Electrosport this morning and the tech says the high voltage output from their stator is normal, and that the stator is not defective. Is the information from the tech good? If so, why does it contradict what's in the shop manual? Any thoughts or guidance appreciated!

  17. The Quat-D is an complete exhaust that sits where the crossover currently is. I think they are even more rare than the Titanium kit. The new exhaust you have pictured looks like the stock set that came with my Scura. Anyway... if you keep your eyes open you may find a Titanium set, but will likely need to move quickly when you see it.

  18. Lucky enough to get out on two rides today and have comparison. Those that have both will know what I mean by my statements. Motor - The Norge seems "softer" though it makes a lot more power. I believe it is 25 more HP. The EV seems to pack more torque right off the bottom. I can see why some used this to tow with. Everything is more "Deliberate" on the EV. Comfort and Controls - Hands down the Norge. VroomHilda just fits me just so. The controls all fall to hand easy and so does neutral via the hyd clutch. If I were traveling this is the bike. other bikes will do 80, the Norge WANTS to do 80 and easily so. The EV (Evie) Like riding high on a big ole tractor, especially since I think I have the touring bars and now installed 1 inch up and 1 inch back Amazon Risers to ease my aching back on the stock seat. Love the floor boards now that I have adjusted the brake pedal to just roll my foot up to reach the brake. Feels just like my HD Dresser days. Still have to lift to use heel toe shifter as on the HD. On EV I Installed the OEM touring chrome mounts and Hepco and Becker Bags. Mucho better than the Norge bags. I wish they opened from the top. Passenger comfort. G/F like the wide pegs and seat way more on the EV. No contest. Gas mileage - EV, a lot better. Ease of Maintenace - EV. After doing open heart surgery to get to the darn oil sending sensor on The Norge, I was delighted to see it in sight a few inches away Left hand motor easily reached for if ever I need to on the EV. Way less computerization to worry about. I can actually read the analog old style speedo and tach on the EV. GF asked which ya gonna keep? Answer - both for now. Maint Tip - Used some Novus fine scratch polish on both EV and Norge headlights, windshields and gauge faces and they look like new! Unreal and very happy with outcome.

  19. @Sempervee1, comparisons are great, especially from someone who has both to live with. That's what we do here...we talk about bikes.

  20. The only thing they share in common docc is the basic engine configeration in a different state of tune, One has the old style frame and the other a perimeter style. Cast wheels V spoke, cruiser V tourer, 5 speed V 6 speed. Like comparing an original Ducati Diavel to a 1198SP. Same basic engine but wildly different motorcycles Phil

  21. There were quite a few Norges at the National last year that put some miles on to get there. I never saw them in person before. A married couple came on a pair which was pretty neat. If I remember correctly the woman's was perriwinkle blue. The Guzzi that came the longest distance was a Norge ridden by a woman from Maine.

  32. Seeing that paper on the ground reminded me , a couple of weeks ago I had rounded up all my Gazetteers, maps , etc. and couldn't find the Ky. edition. Went to the Service Desk at WallyWorld and had to explain to the young girl what I was after. She was clueless AFA what I wanted. I had to explain in as few of words as possible what a road map was. "I just us my phone" was all she needed . Now , please post all the pics you have about this event. I regret not getting to go but obligations.......

" "Why, yes, darling, the ride was fun . . ." "Did you cheat death with your awareness and skillset, mastering the physical realm with intensity and purpose ?" "Yes, yes. Quite fun, actually."

  37. I love the whole line. I find this effort has a broad appeal, thoughtful designs, and a reverence to the Moto Guzzi familiarity that we know. The (very plain) V7 Stone at 15:30 appeals to me. It does not try to be mySport , or pretend to be any other Guzzi of the past. It looks to be just a pure motorcycle, ready for the roads I need to ride and whatever I would ask of it. What my older brother called a "Trash-Mo." (Ride it - use it - make it work) The "California" at the end of the video looks to be part of the helmet display and not anything to do with the new models on offer. What do I know? I have my Moto Guzzi. (And they know this about us.) I am glad for this, and hope the new generation(s) of motorcyclists value these magnificent motorcycles.
