  1. Well I placed my order for SpeedHut replacement gauges. Just under $500 out the door. I went with the design below. The background is gray instead of white. I really wanted them to glow red at night and they did not offer a white face/red glow option. So I went with gray. I think they look pretty good! I'm sure I'll be stopping back by this thread after they are delivered when I go to attempt the installation.

  2. As far as I can tell the driveshaft is all in line. I’ve taken it apart this morning and found that the r/h side wheel bearing has play (although there was no movement that I could feel in the wheel) and also the needle roller bearing and sleeve on the r/h side of the bevel box are completely worn out. This was allowing the box to have play on the spindle. The needles were rusty and the sleeve was very loose. I’ve ordered replacements and after a fight I’ve removed the old one.

  3. Just exploring this a bit further. Have you checked the drive shaft trunnions are aligned? Also what movement? Where? Side to side at the wheel? Fore and aft? How is the bevelbox moving? Or what is moving in relation to it?

  4. For anyone else who needs to remove that bearing if you have an 'Old School' Guzzi shop nearby that has the bearing pullers for the old five speed gearbox the one for the internal needle rollers in that box works admirably for the bevelbox needle bearing on the V11 box.

  5. Start at about 3 years of age, and play guitar instead of football. Such a Gibson SG does sound nice, doesn't it.

  6. Is the vibration felt in the bars or foot pegs? How long since the cylinders were synchronized?

  9. Actually I forgot about ole mate with the greenie from Wonthaggi....But that doesn't get ridden a lot from what I gather. Only other was a Tenni when I was able to get to a few club meetings but that's been sold and disappeared. Hens teeth and rocking horse droppings seem to be more prevalent... But I'll keep the V11 flag flyin....! Cheers Ps if there are more about they ain't out on the road and hate to think of them couped up in sheds not being ridden!

  10. I am tempted to agree to that reasoning; however Marc Marquez has shown that he still has it in him, his talent seems to be intact. Unfortunately, he no longer has the media to express it. As he tries to exceed the limits of his RCV, there is no longer any forgiveness. Not that there was any before, but you cannot go down 5 times in the same week-end and expect to come out unscathed. He still is the number one figure of the GP now that VR46 is no longer there. I believe people watch to see what he will do rather than the Ducati show that is taking place at every single race, short or long. Has he become "desperate"? watching him certainly seems to indicate it. He is going to be able to recover from his latest injuries during the summer break, with little hope that Honda will have found a solution to improve the bike. I sure hope we are not going to continue too long with a single brand preempting each race.

  11. No. It sounds like a spacer is missing. Maybe the short one that drops out when you remove the back wheel. Or possibly a collapsed needle roller bearing in the RH outboard side of the bevel box. The inner race of that bearing is also one of the several spacers along the axle.

  12. As a long time Susan Tedeschi fan, the whole TTB thing took the music to another level . . . Look at this little kid!?!? (thirty years ago, July 4th) . . .

  13. For the longest time the area next to tracks wasn't paved. There were not high numbers of injuries due to that fact. Heck, I used to race pretty seriously and never crashed because the pavement didn't extend past the edge of the track. I did crash periodically, but never because of the grass next to the track. That said, plenty of racers have pointed out that paving the area next to the track only encourages racers to take bigger risks as it becomes easier to get away with it if you over do it. No one is suggesting racing without rules. But paving next to the track and then making a rule saying racers aren't allowed to use that pavement is stupid. If you don't pave it you would not need the rule.

  14. Is it still a SpineRaid if two guys meet up in their four wheel drive rigs, talk up V11s, and swap special parts over dinner?

  16. Thanks doc, other than the afore mentioned plumbing I assume the later tanks are a direct replacement.

  17. Racing w/o rules...sounds like a recipe for disaster....oh wait...we already have that! We have rules and lots of crashes already as the riders go right up to the edge, and over all of the time. I think for safety reasons, creating a non paved area would lead to more injuries....not great. But at the end of the day...Marquez does seem to be finished...the accumulation both physical and mental of the injuries along with what appears to be an even more reckless style of riding is taking its toll on him and other riders. He probably thinks he has a few more seasons in him, but the results don't suggest it...a bit like Tiger Woods...may win from time to time but not nearly as consistently as in the past.

  19. What I did today: gave the V11 a run. Once again only about 80km, once again lots of fun. I'm still not really satisfied with the state it is in, but I just couldn't resist going for a ride. The starting problem, see here https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/topic/28565-starter-button/ didn't show up today, so that is good. Also good: the fuel light was just starting to glow as I arrived home. Since I still haven't had the tank off, and plan on doing that as soon as possible, it is good that the tank is empty. I hope to get onto that this week, but that depends a bit on the new hose for the breather system arriving soon.
