  1. This is perhaps old news for some, and it may never be valuable info, but for what its worth, the howling sound that may come from one of these fuel pumps can be good ol’ fashioned cavitation. MGcycle sent me a new pump lickety-split, but it was still bothering me why this original new pump they sent me was howling. Maybe Sucked in some grit stuck, or was it somehow mounted too tight and causing the case to rub on the internals (i knew that wasn’t it), or?? Bottom line is that when i pushed up hard on the main fuel line from the tank to the pump to ease the L-shaped “kink” in the line, the same kink that was there from before all this project started (same hose, same routing), the howling stopped. Removed line, shortened it and re-routed it slightly, and problem solved. So i’ll send this un-used new pump back to them (which they sent me no charge)… with a little egg on my face.

  2. sounds about right. i'd say just lack of fuel, like with most other pumps which start to howl when they run out of fluid to pump. however now that you mention it the fact that it ran smooth/quiet when bench tested, dry, means that just running dry isn't the issue, but instead would be a pressure issue, as you've noted. whether that would be a drop or an increase..... i'd think the flow was decreased and the pressure increased downstream of kink, which is upstream from pump. getting into the weeds a bit, but interesting. I can just confirm that uninterrupted flow = happy fuel pump.

  4. As usual, good eye, @docc. The engine guards might be another giveaway? They look aftermarket...but I'm no expert. It's just that my 2004 V11 has different ones.

  7. My digital-dash reminder lights up at 170 mile, and I fill up fairly promptly. The re-fill can be anything from 17 to 22 (eek!) litres. My sensor has been inactive for 20,000 miles, so has only been powered up for 15,000 prior to that. Hopefully it will have some miles in it before it goes the way of yours.

  8. Pretty sure, yes: "All 15M in the USA." Not sure I have ever heard of a "2006" V11. Or even a 2005 in the USA. I was thinking the 2005 Scura R was the last of the breed, but have never heard of one of those in the USA . . .

  9. Ah, yes, the "tip-slosh" replenish. Been there too many times. No way I can go 200 miles. My safe refuel is closer to 160.

  10. I think Docc and I run the same low fuel thermistor/whatchacallit . My bike mimics a running out of fuel symptom . I stop and lay the bike over for a little while , get it back up and go a few miles , repeat procedure. It works perfectly! Do this as often as needed to get to civilization and gas up . I also follow the less used procedure of filling up every 200 miles .

  11. Right, you really want to but experience tells you its still a bit cold.

  12. Well done, @Cabernet! I am honoured at the "thank you." Pretty sure my thermistor's use-cycles and hours have made it less responsive. It has become less of a "low fuel warning" and more of a laughing crow cawing, "You've Run Out of Fuel, you dolt !"

  15. OK, I finally figured out MAX and have all those added to my favorites. Great stuff.

  16. Looks like all the MotoGP elements, FP, Qualifying, Races will be shown streaming on Max, the BR (Bleacher Report) sports segment. Right now BR is free, if you have Max, but it may be additional $ in the future. TrueTV, which is part of TNT also shows sprint races and the Sunday show. YaY!

  17. @GuzziMoto If you get a VPN service, you do not need to limit yourself to what is offered in the USA. https://www.servustv.com/sport/b/motogp-world-championship/aa-1qg6dqwd91w11/ Servus TV is in German, but only for the races. All the practices are the direct comments from MotoGP. They also have the races in playback, if you cannot livestream.
