  1. No pictures. After taking the ABATE class I traded my 1978 Saab 99GL (with weeping $900 brake calipers and rebuilding kits unavailable and a failing cold start switch) for a "bottle fly blue green" 1981 BMW R65 with around 9500 miles. The dude I got it from had put a matching color Windjammer on it, and once I pulled that off and replaced the original headlight and blinkers it was fun as hell scraping the foot peg feelers and peaking out the Ronnie Reagan 85mph speedometer on the curves and hills of southern Indiana. After about 3 years I traded it in and got K100RS and the person who bought it crashed it a few months later. Still keep an eye out for one, but the exhilaration of the younger me probably paints the memory of that bike a little brighter than the reality of actual item. I do remember the right side Bing carberator dumping gas on my foot occasionally...
  2. I did my tank after seeing how bad the original material was, cutting multiple templates and modifying the shape for a better fit. I don't remember exactly where I got the stuff, but it pretty much matches what everyone else seems to have. One thing is for sure: simply taking the time to fit the pieces correctly will be immensely better than what I found under my tank! ( figured it must have been a five vino lunch break on a Friday when mine was done in Italy)...ðŸĪŠ
  3. When it ends well it's great to chalk it up as a satisfying thing. I seem to miss shifts & such when I'm about 15 minutes in after not riding much, and the inevitable "is it me or the bike?" is more often me.....
  4. It is worth what someone else will pay is what I use to rationalize almost everything on BaT. 😂 Some of my brother's friends who are deeper into the car world half-jokingly describe BaT as the money laundering and fantasy valuation site!ðŸĪžðŸ˜
  5. Love F9's content, even though sometimes he comes off as being full of himself 😏. "Look at the color scemes" works better with the new 650 cruiser for me!
  6. I've always lusted after one of these, now partially sated by my RE 350 single. Every time I think about lower bars and more rear set pegs though, I remember my age, arthritis etc. and settle back to the fat ass seat and stupidly easy egos. I'll save the aches and pains for the v11...
  7. I've been told that it is "bad" to run a fuel injection car or bike out of gas... when I did a tank-off maintenance I ran the pump a few times before hitting the starter; is this an old wives' tale?
  8. I'll be curious about the dealer network and, of course, the MSRP. I'm kinda turned off by current Guzzi dealerships as I'd have to go from Indianapolis to Cincinnati to reach the closest one... As with any new type I think I'd wait a while to see about the bugs getting worked out...
  9. Not much for the shape of the rear cowl; the curve could have matched the tank maybe? " complex electrics"(!) I kinda got lost with the "cables and carbs" spiel near the end...and, of course, no hammers in the pictures!😅
  10. Aberlour a' Bunadh for me, but I can't afford it anymore...
  11. On the Cali video; talking about mouse nests and then drawing all that mess into the throttle bodies seems like a great way to tell everyone to NOT get one's bike worked on at that shop...
  12. Kinda has a cool neo-retro eastern bloc, crappy vodka and itchy clothing "let's cram into a Trabant and risk our lives by smoking" vibe to it....🙃
  13. Think of the possibilities! A high revving 2stroke sounding e-car with slightly burnt oil incense piped in through the air conditioning! 😂
  14. Kinda reminds me of the "bad ol' days" at Grateful Dead concerts where the music industry cops busted kids hawking any t-shirt having the name of the band or specific logos, killing their gas & beer income. The band didn't care, but all the corporate f#@ks sucking at the golden teat sure did...
  15. Oh yeah! Also Bill Kirchen concert ( one of the quarantine concert series) @ Fur peace ranch w/ Jorma Kaukonen was one of my savior streams during the Covid trainwreck....
  16. R.I.P. Jeff Beck. Had the privilege to see him & his band 8th row ca. 1998-9. A legend.
  17. Played Prince's 2009 Montreaux Jazz festival performance last night. Forgot how smoking hot it was. Maybe my favorite.
  18. It almost begs the question " what else can be stuck on the beast?" Almost.
  19. Perfect man-cave or sexy garage decor!
  20. Richard Thompson is one of my favorites. Have had the opportunity to see him 8 times or so since '95. One of the world's greatest unknowns...
  21. The feedback sensations when riding a V11 are wonderful, but the drawbacks are that of most 20 year olds- high attention to maintenance.
  22. Always good to wipe them off first. I had one on an older car that I had to poke with a needle on occasion to get it to take grease...
  23. I help manage a "Southern Coastal" restaurant in the northern 'burbs of Indianapolis. Our BBQ pulled pork sandwich is served with coleslaw and pickled red onions on top of the meat with a homemade sauce on a toasted brioche. We also have a short rib grilled cheese with cheddar grilled into the Texas toast. One of many reasons why I have to watch what I eat or take home...
  24. These guys seem to have targeted their audience well in terms of their paint schemes; that green/black is fantastic! No bubble gum there...
  25. Firm believer in the "if it ain't broke" school, but the wandering tweaker in me might be tempted to want to compare the aesthetics of the induction noises.....
