Update: The bulb no longer works. I installed it in March by July it was DOA.
  2. I bought a sylvania or wagner LED pilot light for the Lemans, the instructions indicated that if it doesn't work reinstall it the other way it would fit into the socket ( for correct polarity purposes).
  3. Nice July 4th day in Northeast Ohio for a ride out to Eddie's Grill in Geneva On The Lake, Ohio on the Lemans.

  5. OK, FWIW, my $17 Amazon LED bulb in the '03 Lemans no longer works and I haven't woke up the '87 so I don't know if that one still works but the bulb in that one was from a different manufacturer. Oh well, I guess I gotta get a bulb and pull the fairing (again).
  6. Hi Speedfrog, Thanks! IDK if the fuse would mount along side the relay base, i didn't try it because I ran out of room ...only enough space in the relay bank area for 6. I ty-rap'd the fuse to the frame along with other fuses on the left side. You can see it in my pic of "under the seat".

I added the HC Starter Relay Harness to eliminate passing high inrush current to starter solenoid through the ignition switch based on some comments I read in the forum. My own current draw tests appeared to be very low/minimal. However, should the starter solenoid become marginal, the higher draw of the solenoid could damage the ignition switch...imho. I bought the HC Starter relay, base, fuse and harness from Greg Bender at This Old Tractor. It is s nice easy install..the relay base slides onto the existing starter relay base, Red to Batt+, Black to Batt-, spade connctors are routed to starter - Female spade to starter, Male spade to exiting starter solenoid feed wire. https://www.thisoldtractor.com/for_sale_wiring_harness_ordering.html
  8. Yeah, my Lemans speedo indicates 70mph while the Garmin is 64-66mph. It doesnt bother me. However, I put a Speed Hut "Speedo Healer" on my Wing because speedo error was an irritant when leading group rides. The speedo healer allowed me electronically recalibrate the speedo so it is accurate at 70mph.
  9. The carbon fiber thing looks great imo! With mine, I took all the paint off, cleaned it up, primed it and painted it with rattle can VHT Wheel Paint - Ford Argent Silver from the local auto parts store. I'm satisfied with it so far.
  10. When i bought my Lemans (in 2015, used) I removed the rear wheel to perfom a bunch of routine maintenance stuff like clutch fluid replacement, inspect & lube drive shaft & drive splines, ujoints, wheel bearings, etc. Well, much to my surprise, I found that large washer inside of the gearbox drive splines. Although the washer only allowed about half spline engagement, no damage occurred to either gearbox or wheel drive splines. I suspect that whomever did the rear tire change had no Idea where the large washer went so they tucked it in between the wheel & gearbox even though the i.d of the washer was drastically larger than the o.d of the axle. Yeah, I'm glad I took time to do the needful, it would have made me sick if the drive splines on either the wheel or gearbox had been damaged.
  11. Gauges are nice, maybe less maintenance than liquid manometer. I found that the solution in my liquid manometer would evaporate over time but a golf tee stuffed in the end of each hose stopped all of that.

I've got the DHS Mototecs on my Lemans, they were installed by the original owner. They were mounted above the top clamp and I believe that the steering geometry has changed slightly as a result but not enough that handling issues are evident to me. And, the bike is slightly more upright when on the side stand. Since getting the bike I have moved them as far aft and up as I could, it is more comfortable than before but I'm only good for 45min to an hour before I have to get off & stretch. I am currently contemplating getting longer brake/clutch lines, adapter harness to extend hbar switch wiring & throt cable so I can move the risers further aft (and up). It would be a winter project though. Art
  13. Yeah, I use an old camera tripod to suspend my Motion Pro manometer for carb/throt body sync tasks and have not burned through the manometer hoses (yet). I have, however. cooked the wiring of my inductive timing light/tachometer on a few occasions....I hate when that happens. on the Decent Tune Up.
  14. Ok, I gues it is a Cal 3!

    Relays

From the album: '03 V11 Lemans

A closer pic of my relays. Replaced the 20+ year old original equipment ones with CIT brand based on a discussion "Best Relay" on the forum. However the 6th H/C starter relay for the starter is a Picker PC782-1C-12S-R-X, NO:30a/14vdc, NC:25a/14vdc, SAE1171, UL1500, ISO8846 and was supplied by Greg Bender with the relay base & wiring....fwiw.
  16. I installed it dry, I've got about 600 miles on it now and no leaks....fwiw.

    Under the seat

From the album: '03 V11 Lemans

Could use a good cleaning. I recently added a 6th (high current starter) relay based on some comments posted on the forum. I got the relay & base from Greg Bender at This Old Tractor. The Odyssey battery is using their 90 degree "L" brackets. In addition to all the wiring at the battery posts I also added another ground wire from battery negative directly to the frame for grounding redundancy. Added a insulation to the shock spanner...at some point in this bikes life, the spanner dead shorted batt+ to ground and cooked some wiring...didn't want that to ever happen again.

Replaced Formotion clock with Walmart $9.95 model
  19. From the album: '03 V11 Lemans

Replaced Formotion clock with Walmrt $9.95 thing. When I get time, I'll take a Dremel to the wrist band posts.
  20. Hi Chuck, Yeah, I used their D5 stuff on the old stereo I didn't know there were different blends of Deoxit when I bought their D5 years ago Art
  21. The op of my Lemans installed Formotion clock & thermometer. The clock failed last year, Formotion doesnt repair that particular model so instead of spending $50+ on a new one I opted for a $10 Wally World unit. I picked out one having a similar black/white color scheme, removed the band, added velcro and stuck it in place, good to go. If I wasn't so lazy , I woulda Dremeled off the band uprights and touched up with black paint.
  22. I wonder if a good used seal can be had from a junkyard since they been using those types of connectors on cars for the last 20+ years. And, I think I used the wrong type of de oxit on the rheostats of my 45yo Pioneer 1010.
  23. Docc. Call Greg.....480-416-6474. I don't think everything he has available is posted at the website. Art
