Any reason why rockers would be tight even backed right off?f
docc replied to Molly's topic in Technical Topics
Where I live, there is no such thing as "overkill" . . ---> It's kil't. Or it ain't. I've put sixty-six tires on mySport (and had the wheels and suspension parts off numerous other times). It only fell off the jacks once . Belt + suspenders for ever . . . -

Looks like you have her in a lovely state of tune, there, @Molly! Not sure how you can stand all that traffic congestion . . . -
I once heard Tommy Emmanuel introduce his "band" on the radio. I was surprised the bassplayer didn't groan or the drummer hit a rim-shot. Years later, I saw the bit live (Tommy is quite a funny chap) . . . The gig I heard on the radio, he said (something like), "You know how to get the bassplayer off the porch? Pay him for the pizza!" And, "Drummers are people that like to hang out with musicians."

Interesting, no "Sport Naked" in that sales literature.

I would love to know who designed the beautiful, cast Frame Side Plates. Marabese Design? Rodolfo Frascoli? Did the Centauro have them first (1996)? If so, I would suggest Rodolfo Frascoli of Marabese Design (at that time) is the designer.

SSR XXI = five months out. More like twenty weeks. But, who's counting . . .

The original Moto Guzzi (spine) Frame Side Plates were on Dr. John's 1987 (2-valve/square fin) ProTwins racer. That first SpineFrame was hand built in Pennsylvania and the side plates (which Dr. John was quoted as saying, "They are a great place to stuff a sandwich " [paraphrase] ) are inscribed "HOLLOWAY" on the left and "DR JOHN" on the right. Get the book, you'll love it . . . reference courtesy of https://www.motoitaliane.it/en/prodotto/dr-johns-moto-guzzi/

For me, I find the cast Frame Side Plates ("stilettos") of our V11 Spine Frames, and the Centauro/1100 Sport-i, to be objects of absolute beauty. The original Daytona/ SPOrT 1100 side plates? "These things are industrial grade. Almost indestructable" -Starlord

Both wheels off at the same time? Best practice is to tie it off ("chain fall ") from the joists, above, in addition to your jacking method. Belt AND suspenders? Definitely. It's worth for that ONE time that one fails without a backup. Don't ask me how I know . . . -
I can see that the mounting differences are more likely the rear crossmember of the spine frame and the lower, rear subframe.

I love the whole line. I find this effort has a broad appeal, thoughtful designs, and a reverence to the Moto Guzzi familiarity that we know. The (very plain) V7 Stone at 15:30 appeals to me. It does not try to be mySport , or pretend to be any other Guzzi of the past. It looks to be just a pure motorcycle, ready for the roads I need to ride and whatever I would ask of it. What my older brother called a "Trash-Mo." (Ride it - use it - make it work) The "California" at the end of the video looks to be part of the helmet display and not anything to do with the new models on offer. What do I know? I have my Moto Guzzi. (And they know this about us.) I am glad for this, and hope the new generation(s) of motorcyclists value these magnificent motorcycles.

GU01433400 for the early Sports, 1999-2001. I get the same number for the bracket from my 2002 Parts Catalog: 01 43 34 00 When searching, sometimes the "GU" is helpful, and otherwise should be left off.

The front tire has zero riding time (no miles) on it ? Brand new tires tend to be "squirmy" until they heat cycle and wear in a bit. Those mold sprues should go away very quickly. Verify tire pressure, as well. What is the production date of the front tire? Here, in The States, that is a four digit (week/year) code after the "DOT" (Department of Transportation) stamp on the sidewall . . .

I did not think the 1100 Sport-i Frame Side Plates are the same as the V11 Sport because of the gearbox and driveline offset changes . . . Are the pivot pin part numbers the same from the 1100 sport-i and the early V11 Sport (GU 37547005)?
-
No. Early short frames were red as well as the black short frame of the 2001 Rosso Mandello. Pretty sure those all used the smaller pins. Long Frame started with the 2002 LeMans (some Euro models could be very late 2001). I am not certain if the larger pins started with the first long frame or later . . . Smaller pivot pin for the early, 1999-2001, short frame: GU 37 54 70 05 The 2002 Parts Catalog I have shows the pivot pin as 01 54 70 60 Is that the part you received, @Pressureangle?
-
Ah, yes, the diameter changed (larger) during the V11 production run. Perhaps with the Long Frame after 2001..... Early (smaller) pivot pin: GU 37547005

Interesting. We have a thread that investigated this and supports this change to driveline placement with the V11 6speeder relative to the 5-speed SpineFrames. I'll see if I can find it . . . edit: Here is one of them starting with a post by @Admin Jaap:

After chasing this issue for months, my wet sump return line was traced to spooge from the tank vent that was zip-tied to the return line . . .
-
The fitting on that oil return line to the rear of the sump changed from the early AN fitting to the later (double) O-ring. I discovered, the long and hard way, that oil dripping from that line may well be coming from another source, though . . .

I see from the frame diagrams in the Workshop Manual that the rear tail section support subframe is very slightly asymmetric, i.e. 1.0 cm offset.
-
The frame dimensions are shown in dimensional drawings in the workshop manual. Unfortunately, I'm not near mine right now. Welcome, @Paul57! [Watch for this topic to move to Technical Topics (just housekeeping).]

Tell us about the MR2, @alannn!
