Sunoco 260! Or "Super Shell!" (The Pink Stink ! ) Back then, we called Citgo gas "weasel piss." My Cleveland would detonate on that wizz. Good fuel is still a moving target!

Guzzi Curious Seeks Opinion on Used V11 Sport

Thanks for the clarification on the "deTomaso years" (1973- 1996). The origins of the SpineFrame, and the Dr. John Wittner connection, are anchored there. As for Ford small blocks, the "Cleveland", as opposed to the "Windsor" had unique heads with the valves aimed toward one another in a "pent roof" combustion chamber allowing for some high compression and "heavy breathing" ports and cam. The Pantera all sported this motor in the mid-engine configuration. The Cleveland makes a unique, and sonorous, exhaust note while producing admirable torque. My first car was a 1970 Cougar Eliminator whose 351C made ("reported") 300 horsepower and 380 ft-pds of torque. A formula for short tire life. And frequent court dates.

Does DeTomaso give this a Moto Guzzi connection? (Without getting into what "351 Cleveland" means . . .

Nice truck!

Haha: "English" lesson: "Curve" on motorcycle = good! Curve "too fast" on motorcycle = bad! "Curb" (edge of the road) on motorcycle = very bad!

The dude is so busted . . .

I'm going with Mopar --> truck . . .

Well done, @Steve Swan! Thanks for the updates! After much consternation, consideration, laser alignment, then measuring the offset on numerous V11 at a South'n SpineRaid, I decided to make my pins the same each side by turning them in to seat and relieving each by a nudge so as to have no lateral load on the bearings. YMMV.

Pretty much everything about that (beautiful) LeMans says "2003", except the fuzzy engine paint. And the VIN tenth character.
-
I suspect you have a very late 2002 production during which the "new" tanks and forks/clamps were introduced. What color(s) is your LeMans, @audiomick? I did not know the production date is inscribed on the tag (at least on U.S. V11) as it is not in plain view and typically covered by the wiring/cables. I do not know if the Euro V11 build tag got similarly inscribed with the actual month-year of production . . . [edit: Found this in your album. Is this the lovely lady we are speaking of?

Which one of our members posted this fun Aussie bit . . . And don't get me started on @guzzler's short-cut thru Nayook to Noojie !

Front torque rod bolt. Worth inspecting . . .

If I got a Centauro, I would have to get the Dondolino it was "drawn from" . . .

Ah, the "service station" of yore. As opposed to today's "convenience store" where you can conveniently buy fuel et cetera.

Original post from 2014. That member has not visited since 2016, so I reckon we'll never know . . .

It seems you found one with your new pegs post, @motortouring !

Interesting, the original V11 Sport, 1999-2001, was naked (sans "flyscreen") with an available, accessory, Stucchi fiberglass option. Nekkid: Stucchi (Luigi) accessory/ "bikini" . . . The first, factory, special edition Sport of 2001 (Rosso Mandello) carried the 2nd generation flyscreen . . . The 2002 V11 Scura could be considered a "special Sport" with fork mounted flyscreen: There were unfaired (nekkid) Sports in 2002 and the 2003 "carryover" LongFrames ("Sport Naked") . . . There was the 2003-204 Café Sport that came with handlebars and a frame mounted flyscreen: Not sure if any "later"/actual 2003 - 2004 V11 Sport were delivered without the fork mounted "bikini"/flyscreen that is seen on @Dave Swanson's magnificent 2004 V11S(Sport). (??)
-
And, this, a fork mounted "flyscreen" rather than the frame mounted "fairing" of the LeMans variants, or even the other frame mounted screens of the Ballabio/Café Sport/ Coppa Italia or 2005 Scura R. This is a true "Sport" . . . and a fine one, indeed! A Sport-is-a-Sport-is-a-Sport . . .

Not long ago, "someone" bought a NOS Rosso Mandello tail section (and side covers) from @Twin AH. Not sure where they went, though . . .
-
I would suggest that is not a "LeMans", but a V11 Sport ("V11S"), as shown on the sidecover (with no script on the tail cowl). And a gorgeous Sport it is!
-
Yes, yes. I dated a girl in college whose "moment of inertia [was] centered around her shoulders " . . .

Right, the Rosso Mandello is a short (black) frame, first generation, Sport / 2001 year model. No knowing when Moto Guzzi introduced the next "year models." For so long, manufacturers started the next year model in August or September (of the prior year). A look at your serial number may be a clue. The first for the year model (in 2000 or 2001) would likely be 111111. 2000 "model year" will be YM while 2001 model year bikes are 1M before the six digit serial number.
