  1. Hoping to clarify . . . There are three cables to tune a V11: Lonelec sells the two cables that provide OBD II connection from the onboard ECU to "guzzidiag" or other ECU interface software. It is an adapter cable and an FDTI-chipped OBD cable that plug together. The TPS cannot be set in guzzidiag or any other software interface with the ECU. The other, unrelated, harness is to "tap in" between the TPS connector and the TPS (TPS "break-out harness") which is then read with a Volt-Ohm meter to test, and set the baseline millivolts of the TPS to the throttle plate position. I do not recall that Lonelec, in the UK, sells the TPS "break-out harness" . . .

  3. Seems the V11 is wrought with a plethora of vestigial structures, but little if any forward thinking . . .
  4. How did y'all make out? Such a great area to meet up and ride!
  5. Or were those mount points already on the SpineFrame from the faired SPOrT 1100/1100 Sport-i? From the Daytona, even?
  6. Yeah, it surprised me that link displayed the later "faired" Sport design study from Marabese Design/ June 2000. Luciano, himself, said he designed the V11 Sport in one night, without being asked by any Guzzi management or others; as an inspiration. And he was adamant that his vision was in one color, "monochromatic." Luciano Marabese/ V11 Sport Designer
  7. Luciano Marabese, the V11 Sport designer, is honored!
  8. (Be aware that the early '99-'01 gearshift lever is different from the LongFrame '02+ V11. The early brake lever is ~5/8" shorter, but will still work on the later frames.)
  9. Thanks for posting that, ColdandWet! Y’all notice the lock nut on my white balance knob, above. That and sliding the shock reservoir rearward are good method!
  10. The throttle linkage does have a tight spot on the left where the white adjuster knob can hang on the shock reservoir adjuster. Also, this "tunnel" for the lingage rod should not have anything else (wiring, hoses, mouse nest, etc) sharing the space . . .
  11. Since we seem to be on the subject of "cans" . . .
  12. This thread needs savin' . . .
  13. Yep, Odyssey says not to exceed 15.0v. But I wonder what the condition of the battery was before the ride? (As in under, or well under the 12.65v Odyssey charging threshold) . . . Also, you have added the regulator case-to-engine ground strap and have had a look at the condition of your green 30 amp fuse (for melting or signs of heat damage)?
  14. swooshdave does great video! In the meantime, have a look at the 6 step "Decent Tune-up" . . . complete with " . . . twenty-seven 8 by 10 colored glossy pictures with the circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one . . . "

    2001 V11 Sport

I think you scored that, too! How about showing it off at the Fifteenth South'n spine Raid?

    2001 V11 Sport

    Intense! Love it! So edgy!
  17. So, hey, monitor your voltage every few days and, when it drops to 12.65v, turn the lights on a few minutes then charge it until it reaches 14.7v. It would be great if your Shauer has a "manual" mode and you can just go by the voltage. You become the "high zoot chip", your-own-self!
  18. hmmmmm, pretty easy to jack the bike and pull the rear wheel/ brake and do a thorough inspection of bearings and swingarm, driveshaft, and brake and such? There are five bearings on the rear axle and two in the reardrive . . .
  19. craigsinclair addressed this in Nov 2016 in this post. See if it helps: "Shifting Woes"
  20. So, is it correct to say when installing the (5speed) RAM clutch/flywheel the input hub must be for the V11 single plate clutch (Rosso Mandello, Tenni, Scura)? Isn't this what footgoose accomplished on his Tenni?
  21. Hot stuff! "I'm waiting for it! That green light! I want it!"
  22. The image of the Alibaba TPS looks identical to the cacycleworks TPS, down to the logo and what appears to be the same writing "cacycleworks.com" . . . Perhaps, when they arrive, they will not have that logo or wording on them.
  23. That said, I've only had the CaCycleWorks TPS in a few hundred miles. Not sure what happens if one of these Chinese TPS plays up. I took my flinky old one on a recent trip, just in case. Is it possible a badly manufactured TPS could cause a strand?
  24. Kevin_T, what year/model is your project V11? Is it an early "RedFrame?" If so, here is a good thread to read and probably a better place to pose that (good) question: Red (short) Frame vs. Black (long) Frame (in "24/7 V11")
  25. Neither of mine "died." Just introduced "hiccups and burps" as well as difficulty getting an accurate state of tune. I've never heard of a TPS stranding anyone, just makes the bike difficult and annoying to ride especially in parking lots, pulling away from stops and exiting corners. You know: those times when you really need the bike to accelerate smoothly and predictably . . .
