  1. We knew we could rope you back in with the beer thread!
  2. That sounds like excellent grease for the application. The real trick is make sure some makes its way into that front U-joint! And it comes with a little "Red & Tacky?" Huh - I used to date this girl in college that . . . oh . . . - better not go there . . .
  3. Heh - a guy can't get away with much around this crowd!
  4. When my Sport threw this fit, it was a broken yellow wire leaving the bottom of the stator under the alternator cover. It's hard to see, even with the cover off. Tail end the thread here: no charge
  5. The relays, and their connections are certainly the most likely culprit while the ignition switch and run switch also deserve mention. While we always want a problem to be one thing, it may be a combination of ills compounding. The clutch bullet connectors are always worth fettling, but won't stall a motor or cause hard starting starting. The starter simply will not engage (crank) if those connectors or the clutch switch fail. This is the fault that turning the steering from lock to lock while pressing the start button may suddenly cause the starter to engage. Looking forward to hearing how it sorts out!
  6. Ah! look what the (nose) wind blew in! Good to see you about, David! The Stelvio is a bit too ponderous for my tastes. More and more, I think Guzzi have nailed the market with the V7 series - light, affordable, and a fine fit & finish. Makes me want one!
  7. What GuzziMoto said ^ The previous owner must have screwed the pooch on this one. Time to start over with correct springs for your weight (with gear). When Traxxion Dynamics delivered mine, the preload spacers were perfect.
  8. Text on Tailpiece in fileshare?
  9. The black forks and drive line would certainly peg it as a Rosso Mandello for 2001. So would a single pate clutch. Someone once had the rationale down for clutch rattle: seems like the twin plate rattles with the clutch engaged (lever out) and the single rattles with it disengaged (lever pulled in). Otherwise, I'm not sure you can actually see that to tell the difference.
  10. sk, That depends partly on your charging voltage. Some V11 don't seem to make even 13.5 and the Odyssey like closer to 14 to stay happy. What do your voltages look like, say, at idle and above 2000 rpm?
  11. Nice looking V11, Ray! One of a kind, for sure. The clip-ons look to be 2001 vintage. 10th digit in the VIN is model year: Y, 2000; 1, 2001; 2,2002 etc. Have fun with your Guzzi!
  12. On my Sport, year 2000, there are two tubes across the head tube, but nothing attached. Are they for the mounting of the earlier 1100 Sport fairing?
  13. Very beautiful, Remo! Thank you for continuing your wonderful thread of riding in Italy!
  14. Does it slip (rpm increases without speed) through the torque range? Is there a drip of oil at the bell housing weep hole?
  15. No pictures of the painter? : ( Beautiful, the perfect green!
  16. Well, there is this post . . . But don't go back and forth between them more than three times lest a time-space conundrum be created. Fair warning: there is no air cooling and no push-rods in a time-space conundrum.

jrt had an R90 fairing on his V11 as I recall. Search his posts, or maybe he'll chime in . . . Jason??? jrt's R90 fairing another jrt post in Matching up an BMW R90S fairing
  18. Motowfo tells me he's got the last room. So, post here or pm others for arrangements. Each room will actually accommodate several if no Hilton level luxury is expected. Otherwise, there are some other local accommodations where grumpybiker and his buddies stayed a few years back. TWO MONTHS out! Can't wait!!
  19. And "factory" is: 0,15mm Intake/ 0,20mm Exhaust (0.006"/0.008") ? (Just to clarify . . .)
  20. Not likely you'll have to pull that gearbox. Sounds like the hard stuff has probably been done. If ever you do take it out, no need for complete disassembly. It comes away by "crabbing the spine frame" and removing the swingarm.
  21. The recall ended with year 2001 number 114435, so yours is still in the mix. I believe Moto Guzzi North America was required to keep records of repairs. Contact them and ask for verification . It would be good for you to know it has been completed. That said, it may have nothing to do with your concern. Have you ridden it yet? Give your clutch system a fresh bleed and take her for a spin. All may be well once she's running and underway. (There is more eternal optimism where that came from!
  22. simon, You're doing everything right. This is going to work out. Nothing "snarky" so far! These gearboxes have a few 'quirks." You are certain the early 6-speed recall work has been performed?
