  1. Uhhhh , there is one more drawback to the K-bike. You use the sidestand & when you start it the next morning you had better be ready for blue smoke to roll for the first 60 seconds..
  2. Easy.....12v + ground = good power supply. If the fuel control solenoid is good ,it should work. If it doesn't you get to push. I would be shopping for a manual petcock. You will need to utilize it only when you will be removing the tank.
  3. I use Mobil 1 synthetic . The lubrication gurus I deal with say a synthetic blend is no better than a standard petroleum oil. Full synthetic or standard oil.
  4. Just like a Guzzi , they are for a specific rider. Die hard Beemer owners ostracized them because they were to replace the Boxer . Sales were poor so they didn't fare well. I had one ( K100RS ) for a long time & loved it . You will know this bike was very well engineered when you feel no wind on your grips because the mirrors cut the air and you feel nothing. Everything is perfectly neutral . You just have to get accustomed to no Steppenwolf , Bon Jovi, The Who , Grand Funk RR or even MC5 music in your head...maybe Kraftwerk ?
  5. I would replace the connecting rod bolts as a safety precaution . It will be more work but you will need to look at the rod big ends to see if the one or both need to be resized after this. Did the bearings spin in the rod ?
  6. There is one thing that all of these drops have in common..... You have never said the F-word ( or a whollotta words ) as loud as you do when this happens !
  7. No.....just F**K !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Hattori Hanzo
  9. " all the glory goes to the bike. I just ride it " .. the most appropriate statement of all time .
  10. Does this Japanese guy have a name or is it Top Secret ?
  11. Beautiful.....
  12. Ground down ??? Are you sure you can get undersize bearings ? Make sure you have them in hand before any grinding takes place....

Scud , since you are not worrying about getting the bolts out ( of the damaged wheel ) but the rotor off , you can use a drill bit as the same size of the hex of the capscrew . Drill down into the screw about 3/8''. Then take the tool and try removing the bolt . This will twist off the head of the bolt. Do this ( as long as it is successful ) to the remaining bolts . You will be able to lift the rotor off the wheel .
  14. OMG..... tube type amp freaks.. I should have known !

B.T.W. Do not discard anything from this bike unless it is totally demolished . try to categorize everything and box it up w/part #s if possible. You never know how valuable this will become to you and others in the future .
  17. Keep the fuel tank and seat on and you will never know the difference .
  18. sp , is there any reason you can't keep the factory harness and have an add-on harness for your own additions ?
  19. I can think of no reason it would not. It would be dumb not to use the same components on all models . Maybe different gear ratios IDK ? Is this what you are after ?
  20. Are there any OLD motorcycle , go-kart or small engine shops in your area ? They will have inner cable repair kits to help you . You can Google throttle repair kits too. Looking at you pics you can tell the edge of the outer portion is/was the cause of the wear. We need to figure a repair for this .
  21. As for the chrome cylinders , could they be redone with Nikasil instead ?
  22. This advice is for all readers.... Make sure you use shakeproof washers on ALL ground wires / cables PERIOD . If you don't know what they are GOOGLE them and start using them . First and foremost place the ground wire at the starter mounting bolt or as close as possible to the starter. Then you want to link ( if possible ) all grounds together. To compliment emry's post . You were made for Moto Guzzi , it was not made for you .
  23. I use 15/40 oil & don't use the clutch after I get going. Make sure the shift lever pivot shaft is not rusty and binding . I extended the shift lever arm to get VERY short throws on the shifter.
  24. Again..... I am sure you can show all of your legal papers to the former owner / prison inmate and he will acquiesce or he might snap and carry out pent-up frustrations on YOU . You might want to "loop" a cell phone w/you at all times when your new best friend gets out .
