  1. Is this an "active" or "reactive" rear end?
  2. I would use UFI filters. I use Mobil 1 synthetic 20/50. Get the Roper plate and oil filters from Greg @ Moto International. Get the brake switch (after pinching the connectors with side cutters) from Greg also. It is not going to hurt to buy OEM parts because that is how dealerships stay in business. I don't know if grand Rapids Guzzi is still open or not.You can call them for parts also. p.s. keep using the worm gear clamp on the oil filter.
  3. A proper way to settle this would be to send a worn cam/lifters to a racing camshaft company for an opinion. Moving the assembly plant out of Mandello would not cure the camshaft problem.
  4. Mine is listed as a 2003 and has Veglia gauges.
  5. For the ignorant ( I mean this in a positive manner) get you a junk m/cycle engine. Practicing loosening, removing, installing and tightening all bolts of all sizes. You will come to understand the meaning of proper torque or tightness of capscrews. If a fastener does not start EASILY you will want to remove it and see if you are cross threading it. This ability comes with repetition and appreciation. There are only 2 to 3 sizes of the majority of fasteners you will normally be disturbing so don't be scared. DO tighten every fastener you loosen. ALL fasteners are important. When you get into something REALLY important use a torque wrench.
  6. I wonder how long the prototype 8v engines were run? It seems as though these things fail in
  7. What BMW did you have? What symptoms did you experience after disconnecting the battery? What did you do to "reset" the computer?
  8. The "map" that is installed or downloaded is a strategy that cannot be forgotten on this ICU,ECU,computer or whatever you want to call it. This is my educated opinion. There are other mechanics that will agree you will not harm this unit by disconnecting the 12v power supply from it. You can cause harm from a voltage spike by disconnecting and reconnecting(1 in 1,000,000 chance) the battery or ESD (electro static discharge) from static electricity by touching the internals components of the processor. p.s. I am not going to argue with ANYONE about what is done on any website.
  9. With the ECU fuse removed it would not get inputs from the sensors to understand zero or wide open. I know some Volvo automobiles lose ALL info in the ECU if the car loses power or battery is disconnected. It has to go back to dealership to be reprogrammed. if this procedure worked for you, do it!
  10. Could you explain "reset"? Would the bike not start, did it run poorly, etc. ?
  11. If we are talking about the front forks, my Marzocchi forks have 14 clicks only on compression or rebound sides. Is something wrong?
  12. Is fully closed a clockwise rotation?
  13. Mine came with M4 and I've never heard it from a spectator's point of view.
  14. I know Mistral is "top of the line". If they sound better thab FBF, wow!

I don't suppose I should tell the part about the nitrogen in my tires helping my E.D. ?
  16. I'm not the only looking at my bike right now!
  17. with the seat removed and using a carpenter's square setting on the frame rails and resting against the fuel tank I measured 13.75" to the footrest. 13.5" at the outer tip. I removed the seat because of the possible differences in seats.HTH.

That's what the smarty said to me in Cape Girardeau,Mo. when he installed the tires on my wheels.

We were at the European Bike Rallye in Burkesville,Ky. this weekend. One of the vendors was "selling" nitrogen tire fills. At $5.00 per tire this sounded pretty good, so in went the new stuff. I had read a lot about this for passenger cars and was already aware of the benefits. Stable pressure at all temps, very little leakdown because of the size of the N molecules, etc. How many of you are running nitrogen in your tires? What are your thoughts?
  20. the cover is stuck on because of the sealant . Tap on it with a soft face hammer and use a scraper to seperate the cover from the case. DO NOT touch these nuts or studs you are looking at.
  21. All electrically triggered fuel injectors are similar. They are not all compatible. If you need something done send them to www.lindertech.com and they will flow-rate them, clean and match them up if with a good set if yours are bad. Also they will call you back and tell you if they are in need of repairs before doing anything so you will know if the injectors are at fault.
  22. No more sabbaticals !
  23. I hate to be the first one to give a stupid answer. It would be ANY where between $5000 - $9000. Do not buy these bikes expecting to resell or unload fast. You must decide what you want to pay for the satisfaction of owning this bike. These are very quirky and eccentric motorcycles you adapt to. As I stated in the past these motorcycles are for the left-handed. You will purchase this for what it "can be" not as much as what it is. If you do not have "grok" you might be disappointed. The value of owning this will exceed the cost of owning it.
  24. 2003 V11 sport. nylon insert locknut and it APPEARS to have a flat washer behind it. p.s. if it is keeping the sale from going through, that man does not need to buy the bike.
