  1. If it is set up correctly , it will sound like it is ready to come apart......ear plugs will stop a lot of noise.
  2. My snorkels are in this box on a shelf far away from the bike !
  3. Dont worry about it , just remove both spark plugs and rotate the engine. You can find TDC by inserting a screwdriver down into the combustion chamber and SLOWLY rotating the crankshaft. When it comes up to TDC on one piston it wil be with the valves rocking ( ex. closing and intake opening) . Rotate it one revolution and you will be able to adjust this side. Now do the same for the other side. p.s. you can use a stand and put the trans. into 6th gear and spin the wheel to rotate the c/shaft while finding TDC. You can push the bike forwards if you don't have a stand to accomplish the same results. After you finish the job , rotate the crank to make sure the valve clearance is never too wide.
  4. After about an hour long conversation with a lubricant specialist yesterday morning , he said to use a manufacturer recommended lubricant that meets THEIR specifications. Also he stated that synthetic oils for air cooled engines are the ONLY way to go. Use the viscosity that is recommended. Mobil , Castrol , or any big name lubricant is good.
  5. BTW.... what happened to Greg ?
  6. Oh yeah ! That was for wassp's personal advice..... That ( CW ) is a good subject for adults that can deteriorate quickly in the wrong hands.
  7. p.s. for many it ain't over... if you can talk to some intelligent Civil War aficionados you will get hooked .If you talk to some zealous idiots you will be turned off. A good test is to ask them if they know anything about Shelby Foote. If they do, sit and listen and you will be a changed man. If they are a X flag wavin' racist.....well, you know what to do.
  8. How 'bout those batteries in the Boeing 787 ? They are Yuasa brand .
  9. Some people lay the bike over (not ALL the way) on the r.h. side to keep from draining the oil.
  10. How much will you save by not running the UFI stock filter ? I keep plenty for the future & get mine from Joe Eish . I do keep a hose clamp on my filters. I have found that filters with a round sealing ring (instead of a square sealing ring) tend to loosen more than not. The Roper Plate is a must. MotoInternational has (or used to) them in-stock . What you want to keep for a tool kit will change every year. I have spent probably $100k over the years for tools. I have found that you never have the right thing in your tool box , service truck or on your bike on the road . A cell phone and a MGNOC membership with a member list is a good tool to have .
  11. Have you checked to see if the front wheel and rear wheel are tracking in line with each other ?
  12. Sounds good !
  13. Look on eBay ..... He has a store site there.

  17. Exactly where is this gas leak ?
  18. OOOOOOH , that's cold !
  19. Well, the factory engine paint is like that. It looks like a 20 yr old tar roofing job. The rest of the damages were done by dumba**es and the patina was from neglect. There should be I.Q. test given before some people are allowed to own European transportation. Glad to hear your were astute and passed .
  20. Didn't ask what they did. I couldn't get them apart so I sent them the cluster and asked them to paint the needles and calibrate the speedo. I asked them to do any preventive maintenance too.
  21. He has an Eldorado or Ambassador and a Griso. Now the Tenni !
  22. Your profile doesn't disclose your age......one day ( I"m sorry to say) your knees will be killing you.
  23. I'm not a geezer.....yet. I'm a 16 yr old smart-a** with 40 yrs. experience.
