  1. I know where there is a low mileage greenie in Wisconsin. Unfortunately, the electrical system is a literal mouse nest. May need a new harness. Interested?

    Scura clutch

Thanks for that. He's on top of what will work now. The problem is, he can't find *any* 6 speed input hub.

    Scura clutch

Thanks for all the replies. I'll give all this info to Mark today. I'm out in SoCal, so don't have any machining capability. I agree that Mark doesn't want to fool with electronics.but.. this is a nuts and bolts job. He'll be fine with this job.

    Scura clutch

I should mention that Mark has a 98 V11 twin plate clutch available. What does it take to make this usable?

I don't think I understand what you're saying Phil..can you try me again? I don't have either in my hand and my memory is not terribly long. 🤔

    Scura clutch

My friend Mark at MG Classics, has a customer with a dead Scura. When I came through the door, he said.."here's the guy that will know.." He was wrong, of course. I told him that I thought Ram made a single plate kit if you have the original input gear. It does, but it's toast, too. Mark can't find one. What is involved in installing a dual plate clutch? Parts availabity? TIA
  7. From memory I think I remember "nothing special, just a little richer across the board." Or, it could be a false memory. Pete will be along..
  8. I bought a pair for the Kid's Monza for Christmas. They are done on a machining center, and *very* well done.
  9. They certainly do. Fortunately, the end cap comes off easily and the dings can be bumped back out, according to some. I haven't tried it.
  10. Airplane springs. Add airplane to anything and the price goes up by a factor of 10. Or more.. Not always though. Some tools, hareware etc. are cheaper to buy from Aircraft Spruce than you can get at the local hardware or McMaster Carr.

    Staintune cans

Yep, had them for years. They're awesome.. strong men weep when I fire up the Mighty Scura.
  12. The Mighty Scura has a twin plate clutch. Pete had it changed out because of "dangly bits" close to the single plate clutch..
  13. I agree that it's 'safest' to leave it in gear at stops. I watch my mirrors like a hawk and make sure no brain dead cager is coming up too fast before bumping it into neutral. That rattle is what causes the damage.
  14. I'm going to pile on here. The worse thing it does is wear the input hub and clutch splines. Because of the uneven firing order, when the plates are free, they rattle back and forth. Doing that is a guaranteed clutch replacement before it's time.
  15. I lusted for one that was in a "dealer's" at the time. Had a megaphone exhaust with it from the factory. Fortunately, I couldn't afford it..
  16. Sworn to secrecy..
  17. I just checked to make sure I had "notifications" turned off. Yes, I do. I still get notified sometimes. Two today.. no big deal really, unless I get one for every post.
  18. Thanks. The front end is a Unit. It is the first they made for a Jackal after some measurements travelling back and forth across the Atlantic. I built it for a trip on all of route 66 that I could research. I *knew* there was no way we could be out for 3-4 weeks with all of Dorcia's (ahem) stuff on two wheels. After that, it became our long distance rally rig for a couple of years. I bought the Jack-All tractor at a wrecking yard with 600 miles on it. The car came from Pittsburg, and had been rear ended, but had nice stuff on it like a brake, and *electric lean* so the rig could be trimmed out to run straight on different cambered roads and cross winds. It was a successful rig, but while I can operate one, I'm just not a sidecarist. I'll look and see if I can find a picture of the car. Edit: Ahh here's one with the top up so m'lady would be more comfortable in inclimate weather.
  19. The site notified me. Occasionally, I'll get an email about a thread. I just assume it's something wonky with the site.
  20. I love singles, too. The first "real" motorcycle I ever rode was a friend's Harley Sprint. It probably kindled my life long love of Italian machinery..
  21. Lack witted..
  22. I've known Mark at MGC for years. He's a great guy, but doesn't do computers. I've told him that they are *easy* but he's not interested. That's why I recommended Sean. If it is just "normal" service, sure.. go to Mark.
  23. Sean Fader is your guy. He used to have his own shop.. RTL moto from memory but I think one of the shops hired him. Pro Italia?
