Right, Docc. It *is* the future. Is this being overblown? I don't have a crystal ball, but we're doing everything we can to be responsible and reduce our chance of passing it on. There *is * no cure so far. Yes, it is "deuced inconvenient.. " I "need" to go to the lumber yard and pick up some stuff to build a wing jig that I ordered. Not happening..
Sorry, I carefully used *all* of my material when I did the last run. For me to buy some more plus shipping, and talk my water jet guy into doing a few, then setting up the cnc and running them isn't really viable. I'd at least need to do 10 parts.
1 Not that I know. That gasket is really thick.. just make sure it is compressed all around.
2 good idea
3 Take your pick, but make sure they have rolled edges.
When Pete bought the Mighty Scura and sent it to MPH to do some "maintenance" before he came to the states, one of the first things on the list was to replace the single plate clutch because of "some dangly bits" too close to the exploding flywheel.
It's easy enough to change to the common dual plate clutch, although expensive. Some here have gone to the Ram single plate clutch. A search should find some info..
I'd call it a Belleville spring.
One of the reasons Pete says that V11s don't crash well is the front engine mount is on what I would call the accessory case on an aircraft engine. It's not uncommon to find it cracked, and the tubing tweaked. I would give that area a hard look.
#2--- how do you guys highlight bits of posts like I see sometimes in color?
Hmm, Dunno. Aha, got it. Copy it to the clipboard, paste it into the post. Highlight it, go to the underlined A above, and you can change size and color.
It's easy enough to see the difference looking through the porthole if you know what to look for. Someone recently posted pix of just that on WG, but I can't find it..
You can make stainless look like a pewter dollar with a big buffing wheel and rouge. Off the bike, of course. Once you do that, you have to be careful to keep your fingers off.. they have oil on them. That way, they'll turn bronze more evenly.
Good for you, good for the gear, and good for the head guards. Well designed ones are meant to be sacrificial. I've seen some that are *way* too sturdy and they break stuff.
My biggest fear is getting hit from behind. Glad it worked out ok. Sort of.
I've seen several cases of what I call "afterthought engineering" on Guzzis. The Centauro was particularly bad about that. That's ok.. it's Guzzi. One of their endearing qualities is that you can tinker with them and make them better.
There is a free program called "convert" an engineering program that converts about anything. I've used it for way too many years.
I can't seem to get the "lead to gold" conversion to work, though..
