  1. Yep, that's probably it.
  2. FWIW, the Lario uses a front brake light switch that is.. uh.. unreliable at best. Finally put it in the lathe and cut it apart. Fixed the problem, and soft soldered it back together with my antique (naturally) big hunker soldering iron. It's been soldiering on for several years, now.
  3. meticcio wins the internet today..
  4. When I first saw the valve train of a Guzzi, I thought airplane engine. Sturdy..
  5. That's easy to say.. but I too have been guilty of blasting my turn signal at a car.
  6. Google Adel clamp.
  7. There is just "something" really sexy about the way a girl rides a sport bike. Mac Dennis's now x wife Patty came in to camp on a Lario, and I had to have one. That was a "be still, my beating heart" moment. I don't look as good on one, though..
  8. When I first got it, I was servicing it and saw the pushrods looked "different" and the valve clearances were way too tight. (!) Pete had intimated that he thought the original owner had the heads done by Mike Rich, so wondering what to do, I emailed him. Nothing. I *hate* bothering people, but finally called him. He was gracious, and asked me to send him a picture, so I did. He called back and said they were his titanium pushrods all right, and should be adjusted to .002 and .003". He asked about it, and I told him I knew nothing (my normal state of being) except Pete got it from a Dr. in New Hampshire. He said he remembered that engine, but he didn't put it together, so knew nothing about it. He did say they were among the best flowing Guzzi heads he'd ever done, and apparently after rummaging through records told me the numbers on what they flowed which I immediately forgot. At the time, I wasn't concerned about it, just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to burn some valves. Rummaging through my maintenance records, this was 7-4-10.
  9. Mike Rich told me the Mighty Scura has the best flowing Guzzi 2V heads he's ever done. He keeps records..
  10. Will do.
  11. I don't see why it wouldn't..
  12. THE Spine Raid would be a most excellent adventure. What part of LA? We'll be out in Redondo Beach over the xmas holidays..
  13. I don't think the key number would make any difference. You have to know the user code.
  14. ^^^^^ Yeah, the Kid says the 1100 Sport is the world's best credit card touring bike.
  15. Right. When Commie Nick died, he asked me if I would bring my tools and fix a Daytona engine for him when I came out. Nick had talked him into pulling the engine, sending it out to be rebuilt, and all they would have to do is put it back in. He did that, and it was out of time. He said that was the last time he was working on a "modern" bike.
  16. Ok, here's the top mount on the Scura. Side view.. Notice the rubber close out around the headlight, too.
  17. Well, it *is* Guzzi we're talking about here.. My kid originally set it up. The bars and screen are aftermarket. The bags and rack are available from the importer. https://www.motomachines.com/hepco-becker?gclid=Cj0KCQjwrfvsBRD7ARIsAKuDvMN3evgDp8SJAqZqmC2Mn4P-A-mGE60SyJ9FLG6z2IUGH8Ihyjk3v4IaAjx2EALw_wcB
  18. I have done LA to SF on the Mighty Scura, including twisties now and then. A long day, but satisfying. After that, I thought a V11 LeMans would be perfect for the plains and interstates of Indiana, so looked for one for quite a while. Finally found Rosie, a Rosso Corsa, and was disappointed that I preferred the fly screen of the Scura. The only place the LeMans fairing was "better" was in the rain. There was turbulence around my helmet, and cross winds were more bothersome. Of course, all this is subjective, and rider size and position, aerodynamics, etc. say YMMV. Per your first question. Yes, the V11S with flyscreen is an all day tourer. For me.
  19. Well, it's not a Scura fairing, for sure, but not a Coppa either. If the headlight diameter is correct, it can possibly be used depending on just where the mount holes are.
  20. Yeah, apparently it' photoblockits latest scheme. They can kiss my ass. Right down the middle..
  21. I replaced a set of gears for a guy's Centauro. It wasn't *quite* that bad.. but I could feel the particulates in the oil as soon as I opened the timing chest. If I would have kept mine, I was planning on a chain at the next belt service.
  22. I have repurposed the tooling to make a couple of Jackal throttle return springs, so I'd have to make everything new. Of course, I *can* but I'm lazy in my old age.. I'll do it if Scud doesn't want to mess with another run, though.
  23. Always glad to hear from a happy customer..
  24. Wat Docc sez.
  25. You know what? So am I. I'm an airplane mechanic, and have a place for every thing and everything in it's place. Just the same, believe it or not, Mark knows what he has and *where it is.* Back in happier times when he was still more affluent, he had an annual Christmas party for Guzzisti. Food, beer, etc. Lots of it. I cleaned and organized for *days* to make the place look ship shape for the party one year. He told me after that it took him months to find everything again. Ask him anything. If he has it, he'll rummage around in a pile and bring it out. In the above picture, he's on the phone, no doubt telling someone how to fix their Guzzi for free. Salt of the earth, and totally honest. Really, a treasure to the antique Guzzi community.
