My wife had one back in the day too... Holden Monaro. It was a 186 ( 6 cylinder ) as well. She loved it too and mentions the car every now and again! This was before we met but wouldn't mind pulling one outa the shed these days! Might be able to afford a few more bikes ha ha Cheers

Actually I forgot about ole mate with the greenie from Wonthaggi....But that doesn't get ridden a lot from what I gather. Only other was a Tenni when I was able to get to a few club meetings but that's been sold and disappeared. Hens teeth and rocking horse droppings seem to be more prevalent... It's actually safer too! Crawling along at 100kph in a lot of scenarios means you're MORE LIKELY to lose concentration than if you're sitting on 160k.... At that speed you ARE concentrating on what you're doing! Ha ha 100kph on the Nullabor especially after a couple of days of travel IS dangerous but the rozzers will happily relieve you of your hard earned! You really need to pick the time and place for that sort of shenanigans over here.... Even then it's a nervous wait n watching of the lettebox for the next 2 to 3 weeks! The dictator and his minions have a 1 kph tolerance and 20 over means instant loss of licence. I think it's 40 + and they impound your bike which costs a couple grand to get back so I'm told. Anything silly (in big brothers eyes) and they crush it! Oh for the days when we could ENJOY ourselves in peace! If you got caught you paid your fine and lived to ENJOY yourself another day... None of this Safetycrat BS which is Goverment speak for revenue raising! I've got the CSC version mate and no issues with fitment. This is the constant as opposed to progressive ( reactive ) tension one. Cheers Ps looks like the Germans love Bureaucratic BS as much as our Victorian State Govt.....

I doubt you'd have any issues with compliance mate, they are a quality item! The Bitubo on mine was leaking when I got the bike at 20,000 kays! I fitted the Hyperpro damper when suspension upgraded at 40,000 kays and at 98,500 kays no leaks and it works perfectly still... Cheers

Agree with you on the Hyperpro damper Doc... I have mine set on 4 clicks (of a possible 24, I think can't remember ). Anyways it's a quality item and works a treat. Ha ha I doubt Priscilla and co would've gotten the same reception in the wilds of Kazakhstan as they did in Broken Hill though...! But yeah, I reckon an overland trip including the Stans would be a great trip though. Alas I've missed the boat on such trips now but am grateful for the travel I've been able to do! Mate When you get away from the coast here in Oz the heat tends to be a drier heat and not as draining on you but still need to be wary of it as it does still knock you about.It sounds like the conditions you describe in Kazakhstan and other desert environments. I was a fair bit more resilient when younger ( ha ha weren't we all ) and coped but wasn't really keen on it. The weather is changing and as I mentioned we're getting some ( albeit lesser ) humidity coming down from the north here and I don't like it at all. Ha ha I grew up in CHCH ( Christchurch ) New Zealand and on the odd occasion ( very odd occasion I might add ) it hit 30 degrees and the nor wester came through it knocked the tripe out of us.... Nigh on 40 years here in Oz and I'm better with heat now ( blood thinned out a bit?) but still reckon I'm warm blooded and handle the cold better! Cheers Ps plus one on the layering of gear too!

Absolutely it's the humidity that makes the difference.... I've ridden in 46 degrees and traffic a few times... yep in the gear ( leathers ) but as a younger bloke! The last time I tried that was in a crazy heat wave here about 10 years ago, I hydrated big time before the 25 kay commute home (back then) but it really knocked me about. It was rammed home to me in a big way that I'm not 30 years old and fit any more....! I think we (well me anyways ha ha ) seemed to be a bit slow to realise the fact that we're old farts now... but I do get it NOW. So for the last 10 or so years I don't ride under 5 and over 35, well not if I can help it. Must admit we're getting more of the humidity from the north coming down here at times the last few years and I hate it, no where near as bad as Houston though and makes working in the yard a pain! Or most anything really. Yep it took one more reminder to learn for good. 28 degs + the humidity and I did 5 big hours in the yard in the sun and it bloody knocked me out...Collapsed into the pool dragged myself inside and drank litres of water plus electrolyte drinks plus didn't move from the sofa rest of the day!Lesson well and truly learnt! You don't muck about with dehydration! Cheers Ps I'm a big fan of the old traditional leathers and have never tried a mesh jacket so can't comment on them.

G'day mate It's a Stihl 16 inch. ( petrol ). We bought it about 10 years ago when we moved up into the hills ( Yarra ranges )as we were told it be handy to have up there. Then we bought here in Gippsland and installed a wood heater, never knew the saw would get so much use,It's been brilliant in all that time! Cheers

Long weekend here.... So after getting a ride in Friday to see Dad, Saturday took the minister to the Dandy market ( a quarterly occasion ). Today whist waiting for a reasonable time to fire up the chain saw and cut some firewood. The bike got a long overdue wash clean and polish! WooHoo she does scrub up well. Cheers Ps Bloody hell Friday was cold windy and damp on my ride and last two days when can't ride weather's cool but sunny dry and no wind...go figure ha ha

Ha ha and then there's the bloody throttle on the Mk 5.... Heavyish and needed 2 grabs for full noise and you had to be careful not to do it too fast! I'm glad I waited for a V11 eh!! Cheers

When I was getting back into bikes again, a 900SS was on the shortlist along with the original Triumph Speed Triple.... Had every intention of test riding all three but never made it past the V11 Guzzi! Just blown away with it. And I couldn't even ride it at the time as it needed to be complianced for Oz...( I fired her up and that was enough...) Anyways I still like these Ducs. Cheers Ps I was biased toward a Guzzi anyways after falling in love with Mk 3 back in 80's and riding a Mk 5 later in that decade. Took a while to get a Guzzi but she's here to stay.

Thanks mate I'd love something like that that you could still get the cowl on... I don't like the look without it but that seat does look a hell of a lot better and would go that way if ever the cowling was damaged. Cheers Ps wine o clock in t minus 6 hours.....

I like the seat mate! Can you still get the cowling ( cover ) on it? I'd have to be able to have it on the bike. Comfort wise it looks a million times better than the standard torture rack though! Cheers Guzzler
