  1. Not even the best looking Beemer by half a mile. Not within 10 miles of Spineframe and 100 miles from a Greenie.
  2. Nice to hear from you.
  3. @Scud what is a glasssless mirror? Is it polished metal?
  4. I was reading on Adv Rider, that 82 is the new 27. two geniuses that fell off the axis of the earth. Came back for a time or two. John L
  5. to me the tell tale was riding the bike. If it had enough power to get started, you'd think there'd be enough electrical energy to run the ignition, despite a weak battery. If the thing dies while you riding, the first thing I'd guess is the charging system, of course the battery could have shorted out or lost a cell or two, but if the battery is recharging on the bench, then it's likely the ignition system. I think there's a place in Denver that sells Ducati regulators for $75. Just my guess, since I don't claim to be a mechanic.
  6. Those regulators aren't the greatest. And the stator might go because of it. Don't ask me how I know that.
  7. MM got what he deserved. MM was clearly faster, he passed and repassed Rossi for several laps rather than race for the win. This is what Rossi was saying MM would do before the race. It's apparent that MM did it out of spite and was determined to prevent Rossi from contesting the championship. Rather than warn MM before the race or give him the "meatball" during the race, the officials allowed him to do it and penalized Rossi. The big losers were the fans who were cheated out of a competitive championship by handing Lorenzo the title. My only point writing about it is that the subject came up comparing their respective legacies. I was an MM fan until that point and saw him win his first GP at COTA. I'm usually a fan of all the riders and like to see a good race. I'm glad to see MM fight through injury and come back on top. There's no question about his talent and competitiveness. But his "legacy" is forever sullied by his own actions. In my book, the same is true for F1 stars Senna and Schumacher.
  8. Since he sabotaged Vale's '15 run for the championship, there's no way his legacy will ever match Vale's. It's a real shame for both of them. But MM made his own bed.
  9. for sure, I didn't really care about it
  10. I was three weeks old, the last time a French rider won the GP. I think they broadcasted the race by telegraph.
  11. Since the new PM is visiting the White House today, maybe a deal will still go through? You'd think they would be looking for an off ramp for this disaster, otherwise lots of people are going to be hurt on both sides of the border.
  12. They do look good especially on a Greenie. I think the bars are a bit lower than the LeMans. I suppose there is now way to repair the damaged one? You might check with body shop that specializes with car bumper / fascia repair.
  13. Good race. Alex is leading the championship
  14. I just saw the Fortnine video. I see he tells much of the story from the book and mentions it So far as the RG500, never ridding one. Assume being a street bike that it wouldn't seize up. So far as a peaky race bike? Well, I saw Kevin Schwantz come out of retirement and do a demo ride on his Lucky Strike champion bike at the first MotoGP at Indy. He nearly high sided it coming out of the last turn. I can bet it was really peaky.
  15. @docc it's a great book, well written. Actually should be a movie. IIRC, the expansion chamber, power valve and rotatory valve were invented here...inspired by the V1 rocket. Betrayal and tragedy are in the offing. As well as inventiveness with poor resources....
  16. this: Spying and racing and WWII and Communism and Suzuki. And it gets worse. https://www.amazon.com/Stealing-Speed-Biggest-Scandal-Motorsport/dp/1844259757
  17. Betty Davis (as in Mrs Miles) This is even more incredible knowing it was recorded in 1969 and it's only been on radio for 10 years or so. She was way ahead of her time Down Home Girl
  18. I put a mark on the alternator rotor for at 12:00 for "D", then "S" is at 3:00. Of course, you could be 360 out but it's pretty easy. IIRC, the rotor itself is keyed on there, so even it's taken apart and reassembled it should still clock.
  19. I remember when hitching was a thing
  20. I suppose they're really gonna take it, along with the US riding community, once these tariffs kick in.
  21. There are two, perhaps three sockets needed to remove and install the retainers. According to Don, it's been a comedy of errors with the post office. They are having some issues with the postman himself.
