  1. Makes sense. Had mine disconnected, I really didn't know bikes had clutch switches until encountering my issues. I am not sure why they put clutch switches on bikes in the first place. Neutral and side stand lockout make sense but clutch switch? And yeah. my side stand switch was disconnected on my EV.
  2. Roy, when the bike was "dead", it was dead. The lights worked but the fuel pump didn't go and the starter didn't go. That's dead. The next time it started dying was when I rode it home after repair. The N light flickered and it started to die when I leaned to over on the sidestand. it smelled and acted like it was running out of gas. it finally did die when put full over. I did it a couple of times. I put the bike in the garage and took my gear off, and five minutes later it ran fine. And has ever since. My thinking was vapor lock. After that, I noticed the N light would flicker after riding it for a few minutes. I later examined the N switch under the shifter. I saw some weep from the tranny and pushed on the connector to make sure it was tight and cleaned off the weep. It's been running well and the N light hasn't flickered. probably ridden it 1500 miles since. No problems. Cleaned the bike when I got back from Ozarks and will be monitoring the tranny weep. Been hot here and not comfy to ride. Going for a ride tomorrow night's Barn Night at Bob's. WIll let you know.

  8. Take a look at this Dyno chart and the 2k rpm cough will make sense. There is a huge "torque hole". So if the rider drops the rpms and gasses it, the engine coughs. Mine was dyno'd a couple of weeks ago the chart looked identical. I've noticed when I put in new plugs and run good gas that the cough will go away until I run for about the equivalent to a tank of gas. The Dyno guy wants to play with the PC and try to eliminate the hole. I doubt if it's worth the effort an appears no one has done it. http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8556&page=13
  9. Why shut the manual tap off at all? mine stays open all the time as any fuel supply to an EFI fuel pump normally does. The only reason motorcycles were ever fitted with vacuum fuel taps and the silly Guzzi electronic fuel tap was for US laws that mandated the fuel supply is isolated in the event of the fuel tank flying off in an accident and liberating from the bike. We all no doubt have seen many times fuel tanks flying accross the sky off the bike during an accident. Sometimes I cant walk the streets for fuel tanks flying about post accidents. Ciao I only shut off the fuel when removing the tank to service the bike. However, it started to leak intermittently which is why it was replaced. Now I have no shut off now, but I have cork if I remove the tank. Not the optimal solution.
  10. Scud, Yes, I only have to close the fuel tap when removing the tank. Rather than drain it, I'll try using the cork. BTW- if yours is so stiff that you need pliers, I think that is an indication that you'll need to replace it. The new replacement on my EV is easily finger tight. In my case the flange as well as the petcock was starting to leak- perhaps because I used pliers to open and close it? The flange, petcock, "O" ring and stuff are about $70. I think I'd rather have an inline shut off and hope to find one.
  11. 3/8 inch opening on the fitting and 1/2 inside diameter hose to fit it. Went to a boat shop and hardware stores, no luck. I might bite the bullet and spend $70 for the crappy OEM petcock and flange, or just keep a cork.

  13. NF, look at the dyno curve on these bikes (elsewhere on this board ) and it looks like a fish hook (no pun intended): Torque has a huge fall off at 2.5k and climbs like a scalded ape. -cough- cough- Just keep it revving.
  14. yes, Docc. well, I guess you could send me a new batch or relays. LMAO. Truly, I was worried I had to take the tap off again and reposition it. I only have a cork to keep the gas offa me.

  16. I've had many issues with those Guzzi fuel taps, manual and electrical. The tap on my Sport was so stiff that I needed pliers to shut it off or on and the thing would leak needing constant tightening. It finally failed altogether. It was replaced with just a generic flange and male connector with no shut off. At least I got to take my trip to Arkansas (I brought a cork with me to fit the male connector, just in case. Anyway, I am trying to find a quick connect shut-off vs purchasing a new petcock, flange and O ring for $70 or so. So two questions. First, does anyone know where I can find a female to male quick connect shut off to keep what I have? Second, I am looking at the parts break out (see link). It looks like the petcock is in the forward location on the tank, reversed with fuel sensor as installed on my bike.   19. Scud, Electrical problems and left for dead? Been there, done that. Still don't know why. (you probably saw the thread) But Ms Green ran 1200+ miles to Ark, started on first push and ran like a train. She's a fickle gal. Crazy but fun. Not so much high maintenance but prone to nervous breakdowns. ......just 17 or 18 more to go

  22. Made the Ozarks trip. The bike ran like a freight train. I haven't checked the tranny leak since I left but it ain't dripping on the floor. Shock rebuild worked good; that and playing with fork helped dampen the "weave". Previous owner was there with his Spot, he mentioned that he couldn't get rid of the "weave" with bags on. The weave was much better even up to 80 around semis and was pretty steady at 90+ for brief moments with no traffic. 34lb in the front tire. It's not perfect but better. I am not sure what problems I had with this bike before I made the trip but it ran strong all the way and wanted more.
