mr monkey, what is this lid you speak of? the top of my stock air box won't fit on my BMC plate.

Just like mine. That is a BMC kit. A Euro version of our K&N. The filter is washable. I use a K&N wash & oil kit for mine. BMC has a kit too. Make sure your under tank insulation is securely fastened to the tank.

I have always felt one has to put the bike right by undoing Govt restrictions. A few changes to make it as it should have come from the factory. Intake/exhaust always need attention imo, and done on every bike I've owned, except oem resto. In which case I MUST have stock. And boy are those things hard to find. If I could go back in time and collect all the thrown out exhausts from the 60's & 70's.... !

docc, what do you think is up when (as I have done many times) a 2a battery tender blinks like it's charging normally, then after several hours goes green like it's charged.. is the battery or the tender being tricked into thinking it's charged? I've never checked voltage.

I live in Indy and the Mile is great! I stopped going only b/c they put it the same time as the state fair (at the fairgrounds) and used the infield for fair parking, and you no longer get to watch the race from there. Still good from the grand stand. A few years ago I got to see Kenny Roberts put the TZ750 thru it's paces for an exhibition ride. He didn't hold back. Thrilling.

While running at speed, said loose wire contacts head pipe, melts insulation, pops fuse. And 3 days work to find it. not fun.

It's great getting moto-electrics education here. Some of it goes in one ear and out the other but, the light bulb in the cloud over my head burns a bit brighter! I appreciate the thoughtful input.

welcome cda! I am not the electrician here but there are several members who are. Just to be clear, what 'instrument light' goes out? And, sorry but which is a city light? There's loads of info here concerning the often problematic dash lights. I suspected corrosion in my dash lighting, and cleaned sockets and replaced all bulbs. Next time I'll consider the led option.

K99, is the color of the wheels stock Scura? I agree with the video suggestion. Those videos must be difficult to get accurate sound. some are ok and some are crap sounding. must be a mic thing???

Zoup, I've done a bafflectomy on Triumph Thruxton mufflers. Stock cans look like these. There are no bolts and no separation point. I cut them out and modified the internals. - Not easy, but they sound great. I also did the same with stock Sportster mufflers. The process (on the sporty) is often referred to as "Gronk Sportster muffler" and can be googled. Cut and remove innards - modify - replace. A good stainless steel tig welder can make it look beautiful. Some work, but again, sounds great. And cheap. Re photos... I have had pretty good luck copy-paste photos into the reply box. The one below, if it shows up haha, I copied from a random site and came back here and pasted. seems to work..
