  1. Wait... the op was What newer Guzzi if you couldn't have a V11? This is a fantasy! I took this in the vein of Swooshdave's "V11 rivals". As great a bike the Sport 12 may be, it doesn't fit me. It's visual appeal is not my style. It's been said that a true love connection is a convergence of timing and chemistry. I don't see the passion or purpose in it's design. Others see it, I get that. There are plenty of great bikes that I will never own, for the same reasons. So in this fantasy, the V11 (my first Guzzi love) does not exist, and I must pick another, Griso bellissimo, soddisfazione!
  2. top of the threads, or at the O ring, 6 1/16" to the full, and 7 3/16" to the minimum. And thanks Chuck.
  3. I'd like to scavenge on to your thread to additionally determine how much oil to use since my install of the Roper plate. The thread link you posted states the poster now uses 4.5 qts after Roper install. Seems like a lot. When I get back home, I'll measure for you.
  4. So the "2 step" description could be seen as a 'leveling off' of sorts, till 4500 when the thrill kicks in? (link was a dead end). maybe not unlike my '69 Kaw Mach III 2 stroke triple that would bring up the front wheel at speed, much to the chagrin of my passenger. and... Are all (post '05) 1100's 2v per cyl (4V motor), and all 1200's 4v per cyl (8V motor) ? There is much flotsam on the web re: the flat tappet problems, and various comparisons, but many conversations leave out the basic details. And, is the Breva 1100 motor the same internally as our pre '05 V11 motor? Thanks for your patience.
  5. While you're at it Milar, could you address the "2 step 8V power band". What is that, and could you give any further insight to the differences in the 4V and 8V?
  6. For me that would definitely be the day I quit motorcycling. As if this thread wasn't hard enough already ... Of which day do you speak?
  7. I'm probably overthinking this, but the only way I can fathom "can't have a spine frame" is if they never existed. That said, I probably would have never been bitten by the Gootsie bug. I would have a BMW R1200s for sure. I might get one anyway, if a rare one ever gets near me. There would no doubt, be cat fights in the garage.
  8. Woodburn, mmmmyes! clicking on the photo reveals yet another photo. with a sleek early fairing. Beautiful! you should post that one too.
  9. I'm looking forward to following your adventure, riding and getting to know her. Welcome to the forum, and ... well ... may the force be with you!
  10. No, sorry. I wanted to see the pedal arm up close first to see if the folders would even work. If it looks like they might, I may get 'em. If all goes haywire with your order, maybe they'll be available. ?
  11. by the time I got around to ordering the MGCycle brake pedal, they were out of both colors. I ordered the silver anyway. Gordon said they were in transit so shouldn't have to wait long. I put a splint on my broken one, so I can use till then. I will inspect the new pedal and appraise it for use with the "folding toes" asap.
  12. re: brick, and they were faithful to era auto design on the bodywork. Some nice metalwork there, but ... for looks?? c'mon.
  13. Thank God this woman survived some rough years. I get the privilege of seeing her for the second time on Oct 1.
  14. Hey, you get that from a shop in Leland MS? I was watching that for awhile! Glad you got it. It looks great. Welcome to the forum.
  15. gosh, I don't know what Dave's original criteria for V11 rivals was, but for me, if it has more, or less than 2 cylinders, it doesn't fit as comparable. just me..
  16. ^^^ best lookin' spine, ssr 2017 ^^^
  17. great song. I like that better than Clapton's version.

  20. we've come full circle. I posted this suggestion 1 year ago my "other" strange rattle, was my head pipe intermittently hitting the sump
  21. wheelbase for 2000 is 1471mm -- 2004 listed as 1490 with 25deg rake. could find no rake spec for 2000 that's about the 2cm difference, provided there's no rake changes Do you perceive any handling differences, now you've had a proper ride?
  22. and what does swapping shocks reveal.... hmmmm? a favorite emerging?

  24. Na its got decent amount of packed stainless steel wool inside. I want a nice sound without it being like a harley with straight throughs Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk You can see the pipe's "packing space" in the rear shot. I'll bet it's music. What about the rest of the system? are they joined with a crossover?
  25. Looks good. I'm in. So will it be spine or carc for you?
