Andy, it looks like Photobucket is holding your photos hostage The aluminum flywheel is an annoying dilemma. There's no guarantee it will fail. I don't doubt some will last forever. The lack of confidence finally got to me. New Ram clutch installed this month. 13,500mi. No signs of doom on my flywheel, but I wasn't terribly impressed with the casting.

I hope the diagnostic tools come out again. tps, balance, etc.... that was an awesome tutorial to watch and learn. I missed about the first half of it last year.

Ok, I just installed my tank after being completely dry and off the bike for 7-8 weeks. Nearly all the elongation had gone. The nut had to be slid all the way to the rear but no pressure was needed to align the bolt. There is a nice gap between the tank and the rear cowl. So they can "recover" in time when emptied. How much time? It seems like the heat of the summer storage helped it recover more, and faster than my winter experience with the tank off.

the "migration" of the fuel filter is, I believe, a result of a "vapor lock" condition caused by engine heat. the filter moved from under the mainframe to above it, and eventually into the gas tank to keep it cool. I have never had a vapor lock problem, and it get's hot in Indiana. Mind, I avoid city traffic and always try to stay on the move. That's to keep ME from overheating! I can't say just now what the gear oil weight spec is. I use synthetic Red Line Shockproof heavy in both, and it covers something like 75w250 at temp. Some here like it, some use the 'lite' version. Some don't use it. the chin pad is the black cushion on top of your tank. at some point in '02 the pad went solid and is painted. I've seen both on '02-'03 but only painted on '04 and up the transition from white face gauges was because they were kinda junky. so far mine work well. Sorry, one more. I didn't pay attention to the arrows on the fuel filter indicating direction. I assume that the flow is from higher towards the gauges flowing down to the rear of the bike? if it's an '02 carryover and sold as '03, it may have white face gauges and paint bubbling up on the engine block. my '02's both had an external fuel pump at the front of the bike under the neck of the frame. the fuel filter is inline with and under the spine frame main member between the cylinders. the fuel flow is as you said, front to rear. just remember towards the "carbs" throttle bodies. I'm sure some changes were made at some point during the '03 model year, to deal with problems regarding fuel pump, gauges, and engine paint. Later 03's have the upgraded changes. This forum is a good place to help you get the bike sorted. It's been priceless for me.

Welcome to the forum! I can't really tell what/where in those pics. if it terminates at the back of the tranny towards the road, and is connected to nothing, then the other end attaches to the underside of the fuel tank. it's the gas overflow

couple things.... Chuck, is there a place (store) one can walk into and get PTI zinc chromate, and/or are other more easily obtained brands equally "good" too? this place http://www.aircraftspruce.com/neworderform.php has 'em, but at $18 a can and $14 to ship I want to look around first Docc, is there any way to get the photos back in a couple of important threads? Namely Lucky Phil's 'shift improvement' and the one for Roper plate installation. Pete did one and I think Greg feld as well.

not that it matters I suppose, but I wonder if the "really bright" moments are how it's supposed to be, and the rest of the "less bright" time is when the problem is occurring.

I've been had I haven't seen the movie, but I do however, recall the first time I saw a Delorean. It was a summer night in '81. Hitting the bars in Broad Ripple, an area in Indianapolis that's as close to Bohemian as it gets here. Turned a corner and WoW! I had a bit of a buzz going when I saw the car. Bear in mind I did not know they existed. He was just ahead of me. I got into the oncoming lane and pulled up along side. With a big smile on my face I shouted "what the hell is that?" He said something indistinguishable and I yelled "you gotta pull that thing over." He actually did! He was quite happy to tell me everything about the car. Man was I impressed. A car that didn't rust, and looked like science fiction. I was sad and not at all surprised at the quick demise of that company. "Detroit" had to kill it.

what is That? the connector (other end) is indeed the air temp sensor on the airbox. I hadn't got that far in re-assembly and was freaking out. Patience..

what about the ends? the oem's have a nice tight sleeve that cleans it up nice and stops the frays

If it has a lead, that's probably it. I haven't got to the airbox yet in my reverse order.

After removing the motor, I'm getting her back together and came across something I missed in my notes, photos and memory. It comes from the harness under center frame, and has a very short lead. I can Not find where the heck it goes. Anyone?
