Just browsing and found this ebay listing for a Billybob. Read description and look at the last photos. Anyone seen this alternative fix? I emailed him to ask.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/222437612648?ul_noapp=true

Clutch not fully releasing - and shifting problem
footgoose replied to Scud's topic in Technical Topics
good to hear. What do you think was the cause then, of the "tight" clutch? -
you have entered a whole new aspect of motorcycles. What exactly, is enough? If I only had 2, I would be nervously searching for #3. I recently got down to 3 and just acquired another. I believe I'm safe for the time being. What is truly too much to ask of me is to "narrow it down to one please" so... keep the lovely Triumph.. AT LEAST until you've found -- and sorted out, the Greenie. One should always have a bike at the ready, while the other one is getting tires, or painted, or fixed, or.... say.... a baffelectomy on those Thruxton mufflers??? They could sound really good.

HOW CAN I DETERMINE HOW MANY MILES ARE ON MY BIKE?
footgoose replied to barnett468's topic in Technical Topics
A bit of tactful questioning of the p/o can produce a lot of info. If there is a local Guzzi shop you can try running the vin past them and see what comes up. I did it with a Ducati I was looking at. I did it with a Harley I bought.. I just called each dealer till I found the one he used. I purchased a used car and going by the Jiffy Lube sticker on the windshield, and the p/o's last name, and the vin, they gave me the oil change history with mileage. -
those do look great Walterg!

Clutch not fully releasing - and shifting problem

I'm glad it was "easy" for you. I appreciate the running updates. As usual you are concise and informative. As Chuck said, good info for the collective. -
That's good to hear. I like the batteries. So lite, and high cca. No winter tending. My 545 has just given up the ghost. "I was too lazy to push it outside in the heat." it's 35 deg F here! Right now I would push my bike out in the heat for no reason at all.

I have Shorai in 2 other bikes and wanted to get one for the LM, but read something around here recently about the Li batteries messing with the reg/rect or something like that. You remember this Marty?

I can't see how the tranny gears can make the noise in your original video. More than likely the clutch/flywheel. BUT, I would advise a friend to do what Pete Roper suggests -First and always-.

well, imagine my surprise and amazement at just now discovering this thread. I clicked a link in another thread and BOOM! How in hell did this get by me? Makes me wonder what else is out there. I get notifications and follow everything. I'll count this read as an unexpected great score! A cool new year present. Nice job Tim!

I'm thinking it's a '70's V7 Sport. Distinctive round tail light, high square cut chrome fender, the "semblance" of a bevel box and protruding jug. There is a hint of a slash cut muffler at just the right place. Add to that, my desire that it 'should' be a vintage V7 Sport, means it most likely is . A person's got to have one true classic in his garage, right?

I have to stick this one in here. What a great car and video of it. Cool story too. http://media.jaguar.com/news/2016/11/new-original-jaguar-xkss-makes-world-debut-los-angeles?q=&start=0&brand=jaguar watch closely when the garage door opens ... Guzzisti!

I would really have liked to see that completed. I do understand the curse of projects... so ...I'm out

Mine broke at 13k mi. Lucky for me less than 2 mi from home and in 2nd gear. When it goes whatever gear you're shifting from is the gear you have till it's repaired. It was such an easy repair that I did my other LM right away. The pawl arm boss was too large in both bikes, and investigating the one that hadn't broken yet, it was clear the spring was in a tight bind when shifting. My bosses were, I believe, 16+ mm, and they should be 15. The new arm I got was 15mm and using it did not replicate the binding. The other one I did, I just filed the boss down just below 15. The repair "can" be done roadside, but I'd rather not. You'll need a small kit of tools to carry, along with your new spring, and a new 15mm boss pawl arm, OR a small file. The 'other' great thing about doing it preemptively in the shop is, you can ease and finesse the contact points of the spring and hopefully prevent another fail. The other- other great thing is you get to do the complete Lucky Phil shift upgrade!

Curiosity ?. V11 LeMans Long Distance Tire choice?
footgoose replied to JesterGrin_1's topic in Technical Topics
Gosh, I don't know. As of late I don't want to give up great handling for higher mileage. I guess I'm maybe incorrectly imagining a 10k mi. trip involving a LOt of "I" roads, which I only ever use for brief convenience/necessity. I've seen many a rider diverting for an emergency replacement. The cord can (and has for me) kinda show up out of nowhere when highway riding. Personally I would plan on 2 sets of tires. Sorry I couldn't be more help, but I am looking forward to others suggestions on the topic. -
I was going to mention but questioned my own vision... Lucky Phils photo of the seal with "faint lines" looked to me as going in both directions, IE - wave.

Welcome to the forum. Lotsa good info here. Some great folks. How long have you had it, and what have you done to it? mileage? Any pics?

Yours is tighter than mine scud! Also BBlock, using the stock crossover, I think, should make it a bit easier. I had to cut the left side rear of my Stucci 1/2" b/c they welded it funny and it was longer, making it stick out further. Not for sure, but I don't think the Ti hangers (1100Spot) are wider on the right like the Sport LM's.

thanks for the video bbolesaz. inspirational for we in Winterfell

Yes to what Chuck said! I would add that "loosening fasteners" includes head pipes.. just enough to let em slip a bit. Get the entire system to move side to side. If you have a crossover hanger, loosen it too. Just make sure when you tighten up, that the head pipes don't contact the block. Move it all around till the cans look good. i have the Stucci Xover and I had a hell of a time getting it right. I ended up shimming the left side outward with a 10mm spacing washer, placed where the strap hangs. Tightened up from the back forward, they stayed where I wanted them.

I Always heed docc's advice

With these now being the best available.... are they better than the NLA G8HN-1C2T-R DC12? I see minor differences in the spec sheet but I can't decipher them. I ask because I recently installed the latter in both my LM's.
-
pretty sure they were 1495.00 when they were available from Guzzi. Alas, no more. Last year there was a special "find" and some sets were sold by Harpers for 1000.00. They pop up used rarely, or "garage NOS" now and then. Keep an eye out.
