footgoose Posted August 17 Posted August 17 Kentucky comes to mind. kin-took-hee from a plains Indian author I once read, meaning (loosely) 'place for food' Another one from an Iroquoian word Ken-tah-ten meaning land of tomorrow. Whatever. Spectacular riding and people. Songs. Riders can relate.. 3

Whatever. Spectacular riding and people. Songs. Yes, the Harland song fits to riding into the sunset. I would really spend a month or so in that area, just to snif the atmosphere and ride the backroads. Once spend a week and a bit in Oxford near Talladega (Tennesee, Alabama?), working with HD. The Griso was popular btw at the HD-staff. Just made a few tours in that area in a rental car. Is that comparable to Kentucky? 1

Eastern Kentucky has bigger hills and deeper valleys than the Talladega, Alabama area, but all good riding and friendly people. We would call them "mountains", but those from the western US or the Alps say: Er, no. 1

Describing a man's state of inebriation, hangover, or plain old wastedness: "his eyes looked like a Kentucky road map" It's a good descriptor for eyes, or Kentucky roads. Not sure if it's just a local thing or has anyone else heard of this? for thread integrity: 2
