Hi everyone, I am now a new owner of a 2000 V11 sport. It is actually the bike which was recently sold by forum member Velofish. I have to say that I have been lurking on here for about two weeks now and there is such a wealth of information here! I want to send out a thank you right away to all of you for posting all of it, I have already leaned a ton and will continue to read through all the FAQs and How Tos. Velofish did a great job of performing and documenting the regular maintenance so she runs great which allows me to enjoy riding while working on 'quality of life improvements.' My first order of business on this beautiful machine is getting her gauges working. Currently the Speedo has the classic wobble and the Tach is non-functional. Thanks to all of the posts here I have already been able to narrow down the Speedo wobble to either the speedo drive gear at the transmission end or a bend in the cable. I will confirm which by the weekend. A little warning that you might see a couple of old threads resurrected as I search through all the great past discussions for similar issues to what I am dealing with and posting either more questions or confirming that I was able to resolve the issue following what others have already done! I have already got my Guzzidiag and TPS cables on order for the Decent Tune Up and am building a spreadsheet of all the other little parts and pieces will need as I plan to execute the Tank Off Maintenance Checklist later this year.7 points

Technomec supplies parts for farming implements. My contact there says this is their busiest time of year as winter has ended and farming is in full swing. I'm told they only sell 10 of these units a year on average. No clue to what they are used for. Maybe farmers with V11's?3 points

Well, I got nothin'. There's another joint very very close to these dimensions- maybe 2 millimeters bigger- that is possibly the most common joint on the planet for farm implements. Why Mother Goose chose to use something 2mm less than common beats me.2 points

I have a bad experience with ca cyclework TPS, maybe due to moisture, as it is not a proper sealing around the TPS. The bike was not rideable, and become good when a old original TPS was installed. As a solution to this I put some water resistance grease around the TPS, have worked well since2 points

First, well: Hey, welcome, @JimM ! Let's get clarified on your "V11" model. What is this V11 "e" of yours? As in "EV?" Next, I would suggest (regardless of the V11 variant/motor), valve clearances 0.006"/0.008" Intake/Exhaust (0.15/0.20 mm). Removing the injectors is probably not "next" . . .2 points

That was discussed- Pete said there were some cracking failures in early prototype plates; I don't recall the specifics about materials and thicknesses but these are made so there is no question about durability. I did install longer bolts with mine.1 point

It never occurred to me before to ask, why do they stock these in Canada *at all*? I was not able to discover any other vehicle but some obscure Russian 4x4 ATV that uses this size. Curious.1 point

Hi Jim Valve adjustment is done, me too I prefer the 15/20 values for the V11. TPS adjustment with throttle synchronisation is next step. Maybe that will already cure the symptoms. If not check CO value at the popping rpm. Supposedly very lean. The ECU has a CO trim that can be adjusted using the Guzzidiag software. Check for this in the forum - it is cheap to get the necessary parts and easy to use.1 point

Yeah, definitely a “fun” project for the rainy season. Having the injectors cleaned is the easy part, I reckon I would if they’ve been on the shelf for any length of time. I think that I’ve said it before, and no offense to all the great contributors to this forum, but I miss @Lucky Phil's vast knowledge and no-nonsense approach to all things technical.1 point

Having just set my TPS about nine times , I'm hoping I have something to offer for the TechSessions (without actually becoming a TechSession ). What a great roster. Gonna be awesome to see some familiar faces and also get to meet some new folks.1 point

The TPS replacement checked out. The setting is still not perfect, but the awful (almost unrideable) hesitation/falter is gone. This is my 4th TPS. Number two was a PF4C for Harley-Davidson and #3/#4 are ca-cycleworks. First two lasted 50-60,000 miles each. This last ca-cycleworks about 19,000. That it "went bad" after it was adjusted makes me wonder if the method of tapping the TPS back and forth with a screwdriver handle to get the delicate setting could be suspect practice. That is the only action I can imagine that could have damaged the TPS during the tune-up. What with my decidedly worn throttle body shafts, finding the "fully and completely closed" throttle position remains enigmatic. I can change the reading about 30 mV pushing the throttle crank closed along with deflecting the shaft laterally. My understanding is that is about four "steps" on the mapping. A moving target . . .1 point

When I got home I bumped the CO Trim up to 15. I also bumped the idle up to 1100. Keep in mind at 1100 my charging light is off. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Same here. A ~1200 idle also has the side bonus of at least being neutral to the state of the battery charge vs draining it.1 point
