  1. Inmates are coming out of the woodwork, now! What say you, @activpop? Why a V11 on top of a Griso?
  2. I was thinking more "dancer in a party dress " . . .
  3. @Bill Hagan, @KINDOY2, and @Guzzimax also come to mind as having, or have had, both Griso and V11 SpineFrames. @Guzzimax might be an especial influence as Derbyshire looks to be some 130 miles from Oxford . . .
  4. We do have several members here with, or having had, both a Griso and V11, like @Scud. I would be curious what MisterÜberGriso, @pete roper, has to say about the comparison. I was surprised to see him express some admiration for the SpineFrame V11 recently having previously only noted him saying, "The V11 doesn't crash well. " The question being, "What with a Griso, then why also a V11?"
  5. Y'all-boys need to remember when to shift into low gear!
  6. Rather than a simple case if "-itis ", the triage suggests a more plausible diagnosis of "-mania " (some seemingly irrational psycho-emotional affectation that pervades an individual's behavior, life choices, and risk taking). Let's ask the other inmates on the ward if this V11 idea is really crazy . . . > Oh yeah, @Oxfo-Moto, you're in the right place!
  7. Nederland Spine Raid!
  8. And the dimensions/shape/ offsets of the 1100 plates look identical to the early V11?
  9. Looking forward to your ongoing "play-by-play" with the Coppa Italia, here, @wavey_davey1!
  10. Compliments, @wavey_davey1, on the informative discourse in the video. Quite a relief to hear so much detail about the V11 (and other Guzzi models) well presented. I would like to thank both @Pressureangle and @p6x posting this video separately to be certain we did not miss it. Thanks, guys! That @swooshdave beat everyone to the punch should be no surprise. The operative term is "swoosh !"
  11. Just reviewed this entire thread after the Lemon Drizzle Gang video came up. Pretty amazing that @wavey_davey1 performed this "recommission" in three months! I thought that these links to the video belong here . . .
  12. Are the NOS or take-offs from a parts bike? Did you have to order the plates as right and left part numbers and the pins as separate numbers?
  13. I had to laugh at your comment, "And it gets worse." Makes me think of this Tom Clancy quote:
  14. Oh, scratch that. @Lucky Phil posted your solution in that thread . . .
  15. Maybe better to install dropped footpegs?
  16. There are a couple options by changing the shift mechanism. You can lengthen the connecting rod or rotate the pawl arm on the gearbox one tooth clockwise (which will likely necessitate changing the rod length to keep the arms parallel). This may require some 'fettling" to make both you and the gearbox happy . . .
  17. @activpop, was your leak at the washer, #20, in that diagram?
  18. I've only replaced my vent hose once, but it really wasn't the source of my leak problems. Part of my issues was the #15 gasket for the oil pipe that the hose attaches to. (Notably, oil leak from this gasket appears at the 'weep hole" at the bottom of the clutch housing.)
  19. One of the difficulties assessing the system is that the vapor recovery (which would include water vapor) is not on the parts diagram for the ventilation system ("oil pump"), but on the "air filter" page (16-20) . . .
  20. This is correct, crankcase ventilation/oil vapor travel up from the back of the engine through the nefarious double-bend rubber hose under the frame to the bottom of the frame spine behind the headstock. The frame cavity acts as a separator with the gaseous fraction following the path @gstallons describes (a hose visible from the fitting on top of the frame spine, behind the headstock/ in front of the tank) to the airbox, and the liquid fraction draining down through the frame cavity to the return line and back into the sump. Ideally, adequate running temperatures will evaporate the water before it drains back into the sump. Less than ideal would be short operating times, very wet environs, and long storage periods. Also, oil selection plays a part. Pure synthetics (true ester base oils) have close to zero evaporation loss from heat and aid the efficiency of a complex, closed loop, crankcase ventilation system like ours.
  21. Note to all: Please recognize a proper response to a "wanted" topic as posted by @Pressureangle. Anyone receiving a "Personal Message" with an outside email to contact ("my buddy has one those " type-of-thing) should report that message by clicking the ellipsis ( . . . ) at the top right of the message and add any comments to the report. Thanks for helping keep door closed so the rats don't wander in!
  22. The "crush" washer(s) at the top where the return line attaches to the frame spine?
  23. Let's just say that "wind noise" would have been a welcome improvement. That said, I would love to get some riding video/audio using your expert tips. Thanks for sharing those with us!
  24. Good technical advice. I would trade what I had to do today for wind noise . . .
