    Diagnostic Cables

I am hoping this thread serves to keep current sources for the cables around the globe.

    Diagnostic Cables

Thanks for heads up on the availability. Let's see if we can scare one up stateside. I googled "3 pin to OBD cable" and see offerings from $4-6. Be certain your Triumph cable is FTDI chipped.
  3. There's one 15. When your replace the relays, pull as straight up as possible so as not to open up the contacts in the bases. You'll have to rock them a little, but be mindful.
  4. I'm not sure whether to move this thread to "Newer Models" or "Older Models", so let's let it run right here for a while to see if we get some good replies. I'll edit the title to get the attention of The Knowing.
  5. So . . . those are not like V11 LeMans/Sport ("up-side-down") forks at all. But, there are some guys here that know those Tonti forks. We'll have to wait on the time zones to shift between Indiana and Bungendore . . . . Stand by . . .
  6. Seals are leaking?
  7. Why are you wanting to completely disassemble the forks?
  8. Hey! That looks nice - not "blocky" at all. Must be the block of orange paint I was thinking of on the original fairings.

    Such a tidy garage . . . must be a drummer . . . ; /
  10. That handbook sticker is likely the sales date. The actual build date is on the metal tag on the left of the headtube. Kiwi_Roy's number might be missing a "3" in the string?
  11. davedavedavedavedave . . . .
  12. Looks like you've got this! But, Dave, buddy . . . you gotta start gettin' some sleep, man . . .

    Ram Mount.

Yeah, they are supposed to pop out, or pry out. Maybe a little soak with penetrating oil?
  14. Sooo . . . while the tank (early/ chin-pad tank with external pump and filter) is really not that difficult to lift, I would not dislodge one in a parking lot, or before a significant ride, just to stretch a charging wire for a mobile device. Once in the comfort of my bunkered abode, I would get after the Tank Off Maintenance Checklist. Your V11 Sport looks to be a good candidate to just get on and ride home. Fresh fuel, tires, battery, [relays] . . . good to go!
  15. Other "Recalls?" No. The early V11 gearbox issues were subject to an actual US NHTSA Recall Program. Also "recalled" were the very early rod failures. I have a long list of things that were otherwise *warrantied* on my 2000 Sport (March 2000 build date). I had one of the rare 3 year warranties. And my dealer was amazing, taking care of my Sport over that entire time.
  16. That sounds like the gearbox recall. Good news! And doubly so done by MI. http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=14680&p=158632
  17. Heh, I remember thinking I had this figured out and completely used up my rear brake pads trying to learn it. Nope - that's not it. In fact, it's not about the rear brake at all. As I see LuckyPhil states so well. One of the best descriptions I heard was about "feeding the compression forces of the braking into the turn-in compression" so that braking into the turn and leaning forces were blended seamlessly together as one suspension compression. I paraphrase deeply . . .
  18. It is not a catalytic converter. There is a perforated metal grill inside. It's a *center muffler*. My original perf grill came loose and made an annoying rattle. My dealer (and MGNA) replaced it under warranty. [A couple years later I bent mine (stock cross-over) in a stoopid crash and, with a stroke of pure generosity, ended up with Andy York's stock cross-over. So, if you can't keep up with me on a twisty road? Now, you know why. ]
  19. Yeah, that is is the early (pre-Givi) Stucchi design. More *trim* and tighter fitting than the later Givi-type versions. All the original 1999-2001 Moto Guzzi accessory (Stucchi Luigi) V11 fairings were fiberglass and color matched (silver, black, V11-green).
  20. I would have thought the 01575 were all the same and the last three numbers are the color, but the optional (accessory) 1999-2001 Stucchi is definitely a different piece.
  21. How about a picture of the part of the shaft you did not use? Is there a part number on it?
  22. My understanding is that the swing arms and shafts were unchanged through the V11 range. There was no spring fitted to the replacement as in the earlier 1100 Sport? The 5speed gearbox would make for a shorter shaft, yes?
  23. I thought there was a good photo of those two red V11 side-by-side at The Spine Raid, but found this interesting juxtaposition (avert your eyes from the Hotdog&Mustard lest ye suffer the obvious consequences ):

    Champagne wishes...

This is precisely why I'm keeping the carbon on my pistons: it has been meticulously applied over an extended time period, conforms to where the squish band allowed it, and bumps my compression ration by ~ 0.00084% . . .
  25. Check out the pics of the Scura and Ballabio in Post#18, above. Aren't those identical fairings, just mounted differently? To my eye, the LM I faring is a bit *blocky* for the V11's voluptuous styling. I don't recall anyone fitting one, but it surely could be done with some simple bracket fabrication. Google "V11 Sport" and look over the page of images. Lots of options on fairings, *bikinis* and otherwise . . .
