The Kid will be here tonight with Spot on a trailer. Last night he said he had a total of 25 miles on it this year, so this will be the run to see what falls off. Since (ahem) he's in poor riding shape, we'll only go 300 miles or so tomorrow to Charleston, WV, where there happens to be a Hooters within walking distance of the hotel where we're staying . Funny how that happened.. We'll continue our mini spine raid through Mooresville, NC (race city, pronounced rice) they go ricin there.. through Asheville to see the Mayor of BBQ (doesn't post here) and get a free beer at his brewpub if you're on a Guzzi. Then down the blue ridge, but that is as far as we've planned, so far.

I saw one run into the back of a parked cop car one time. Two guys got out looking like of stiff legged..

I don't need no steenkin lights.. I don't ride at night anyway.

The Mighty Scura likes the number 5, too.. as does every Guzzi I've ridden in the canyons.

The Kid and I blew it off since the east coast guys and Moto aren't coming. We'll go hang out with some friends in Mooresville, N.C. , then down to the dragon, etc, and back through the Ky bourbon country.

Well, that oughta be fun..

I'll bet you could have those high current relays from Digikey (USA) in a few days with reasonable shipping costs. Otherwise, take the OMRON part number and have look locally: High-Current OMRON G8HE-1C7T-R-DC12 Yep, I got a set after Docc kept brow beating me so I wouldn't get left on the side of the road on the mini spine raid/mutton run next week. About 25 bux shipped in a couple of days..

Crap. Sorry about that, Scud. *I've* never heard a bad rod bearing sound like that, fwiw. The pins "felt" normal when you put the pistons on?

Because it's a cylinder head temp gauge. Never believe everything you read in a Guzzi manual.

I'm still betting on hammering causing it from too loose a valve adjustment. Either set too loose, or set properly, and rapid cam wear. It takes a *lot* to mar a hardened surface..

I'd get it resurfaced or put a new/different one on there. Not knowing the history of the engine.. maybe someone gapped it way too wide and ran it that way a while? Maybe the cam is starting to wipe a lobe? Or already has? I'll take door number 1.

Guzzis are all about lightness.. that's why there is so much carbon fiber on the Scura.

Scud, it's hard to tell from that picture, but it looks like there is a dimple or something on the rocker face. That ain't rat. The second question to me would be why is it there? I'd catch up on my other maintenance chores and ruminate on it a bit. The *last* thing I'd do is take it to a dealer and have that kid that cross threads your spark plugs trouble shoot it.

I'm not even sure what we're looking at there.

Good tutorial, Docc. I guess the obvious question is how long before your battery goes down with the gps on all the time?
