  1. Yes, some dreams never die. So ... there is the Moto Grappa, home of my Guzzi moto-harem. Fewer now than in this pic four years ago, parading on the occasion of Moto Guzzi's 100th. I mentioned my (quite possibly loony) plan over on Griso Ghetto, and "Street" worked up this mockup. Yee ha! Looking into options to execute now, e.g., @p6x's mural approach. Obviously, if this happens, there will be a party. Last time I had such an event -- in Atlanta, for the christening of the GarageMahalo 20 years ago (gasp) -- the local Peroni distributor helped wet down the festivities. If the "Moto-Duomo Doors" happens, count on a similar event at the top of Virginia. This post constitutes your invitation. Bill

  2. When I bought it 8 years ago, the bike looked like it had been under water. So I'm not surprised to say the least. What is surprising, is that the corrosion forms an edge exactly on a quarter if the print. As if it was physically dipped in water. I started her up yesterday evening and she runs like a sewing machine again. Very happy!

  3. It does exist. https://www.jaycar.com.au/circuit-board-lacquer-spray-can/p/NA1002?srsltid=AfmBOooIOiwJEFgxR9MDQ2QNG0Xwu-E2653MgXqqdXuZnRR0qhZzoHYk Personally I'd be buying a spare ecu JIC. The other issue these 15M ECU's have is the Baro pressure sensor failing. Not a big deal if you live at seal level and don't ride into the mountains. You'll know it's failed via Guzzidiag if it shows dashes in the baro readout screen or if the bike starts acting a bit flaky with significant altitude changes . Phil

  4. Nothing wrong with the door Bill and as I said it may not be the same bloke. His faith is no concern of mine either, BUT! I am always deeply distrustful though of people who wield their religious beliefs like a cudgel and try to somehow imply they are ‘Better’ or more trustworthy/meritorious than others because of them. I don’t bang on about my beliefs or lack of them because they are of no relevance to anyone but me. I know you are deeply devout and my criticism was not aimed at people of faith, any faith, just those who seek kudos by wearing their proffered belief as a cloak of virtue.

  5. Mountains = good! Seal Level = okay . . . Below seal level = NO GOOD!

  6. If you search for "conformal coating" you will see many products that offer a protective, breathable coating of thin polymeric film that does exactly what you want. Then you can immerse the bike again and it will still start. 😄

  8. If you have lateral play in this shift rod , you can purchase machinery bushings and take up the side play . These are nothing more than washers in different i.d. and thickness to take up slack . Traditionally these were sold at farm equipment dealers and they might be "available" through Fastenal or an industrial supply house.

  9. IDK if anyone where you live that repairs PC boards that can offer a spray to put on the board to stop / prevent any future problem(s) ? I am glad you got it started .

  10. My Quota 1100 ES is also a 2000, which I bought new in 2001. Was my exclusive ride until I bought my V11S this year! No vintage/antique MC tags available here in Colorado.

  11. Any wall painter artist can do it with a photo. I am saying this, because a French bakery in my neighborhood had a mural done, representing Paris rooftop with a few of the Paris landmarks. He worked from photographs. He said he also does some inspirational art. During my Texas travel, I saw plenty of those murals just about everywhere.

  12. Haven’t watched the vid but isn’t that bloke the same spiv who did some YouTube’s spruiking CARC bikes a few years ago and then posted one last one lachrymosely talking about how his business had gone down the tubes and he was having to sell all his precious treasures, woe was him and it was all horribly unfair? He also banged on endlessly about how he was a wonderful and devout ‘Christian’ which made me want to drag him out the back for a good kicking! If it isn’t the same bloke I apologise but he sure as shit looks like him……

  15. That brings up the question if @Mechanism's V11 now connects to guzzidiag (?) I also got a kick out the phrase "seal level." After all, when was the last time you saw a seal in the mountains?

  16. No, they don't. I've had my V35 Imola gearbox open a couple of times. You need something to hold the input shaft to get the nut off (110 nM), and a longisch Allen key to get to a particular screw inside, but that's all. The rest is standard metric nuts and bolts.

  17. IDK how much clearance you are working with , you may be able to install one conventional washer and make up the slack. How much clearance do you have ?

  18. ok. I will check eBay w/the hopes someone has some to sell if I can't get some dimensions and come up w/something .

  19. Unless similar nuts are used in some of the later bikes, (And apart from the pinion nut in the CARC bevelbox I can’t think of any.) I would be very surprised if the factory still has them available. Certainly the CARC six speed boxes don’t use them and I’d be surprised if any of the smallblock, three shaft, six speeds do either. The V100 I know next to nothing about but from reading the manual I can’t remember seeing or having reference to any similar fasteners.

  20. I can probably measure mine in the next few days. They’re at Michael’s workshop though and his new crane is being installed at the moment so the place is a shitfight but I’ll see if I can dig ‘em out and measure them. Having a socket is infinitely better than buggering about with alternatives, believe me.

  21. Does anyone know the o/s diameter of the "nuts" in the transmission ? I am going to try to find an affordable socket for this . I see Motion Pro sells some of these sockets.

  22. It is not about "appropriate"; the whole concept of "tip" is detourned. My first encounter was in February 1983, when I took one of these yellow cabs from JFK to get to my hotel in Manhattan. Upon arrival, I was yelled at in the open by a pretty irrate taxi driver. I did not understand. In France, even today, you are not required to tip. You pay for the transport, yes? so a tip should be left at the appreciation of the customer, and never an obligation. But as i learned later, this did not hold true in NY. Apparently, the tip is compulsory in a number of cases. In France, a "tip" is called "pourboire". Which literally means "for drinks", combined into one word. The meaning is on point. This is an extra that you provide, because as a paying customer, you felt that someone went out of his/her way to give an impeccable service. It is not something that should be automatically claimed because today's technology enables it. NFC which is the technical name of contactless payments should make transactions faster. As it turns out, because you invariably need to select a tip in cases that should not require one, you end up having to fumble with the payment terminal. They found a new way to enforce it, by removing the "no tip" option. I am starting to see it more too. But as you suggest, I am not ashamed to tell them I don't want to tip, so complete the transaction.

  23. @68C As a European from France, I will share what has always been my most puzzling experience here. None of the price shown to you includes Tax and/or fees. In the whole of Europe, and the UK, the price shown to you is the price you pay, in that it includes VAT. This is never the case here. I was once explained that the rationale is that taxes vary per state, city and so on. But my local supermarket does not include taxes either. Why not? Something you also need to be wary about: tips! with the contactless payments, came the flip tablets, which impose you to select a tip percent before you can complete the transaction; even when there is no service provided, such as you purchasing something that is given to you over a counter, or even better, when you do all the work yourself. I am just back from Orlando Florida, the home of Mickey, and I discovered a new one: the no tip option altogether missing. It felt a little bit like extortion. Can you picture going to your supermarket, filling up your cart, and at the check-out, you are presented with a tip percent selection with no opt-out? Are you renting a car?

  24. A video that seems to be dealing with facts rather than illusions; I have my Ford Transit Connect equipped with all season tires, because in Texas, you need to be prepared for anything nowadays.... This review is excellent, even if missing the autonomy/durability concept. Edit: Found a review that states the wear out distance;

  25. Still amazed by this bike, after 20 + years. Here picking it up in New Orleans in 2004 on my 50th birthday, an incredible gift from my wonderful wife. The next year Hurricane Katrina would wash this shop away! The Rosso still runs strong....I compare it to my other Guzzi, a 2022 V85 Guardia d Onore, and it has about 100% more Guzzi soul. Yes, both the bike and the wife are keepers for life. Andy

  27. Pretty new to this Guzzi party, but here are mine. 1. Nero Corsa. Missed my chance for one or two of these. Another might come along. 2. Coppa Italia. Distinctive and beautiful 3. Scura R. Color, beauty and Ohlins. 4. Griso SE One of a kind in looks as only Italians can build. Except for that massive can. 5. Stelvio NTX. My SUV. Weather protection, comfy ergos for me, load carrying, mile eater. But a greenie could almost squeeze in there somewhere for that dazzling color.

  30. Top 5? Without having previously ridden any I’ve tried to crack that nut! • Any V11 equipped with the 15RC ECU and Ohlins • V50 Monza (add PJI plugs) • Quota 1100es • V65 TT • pending production I know what I want so I’m patiently waiting… If it has to be reduced to just one - it’ll be the Scura R

  32. My top 5: - V11 Le Mans Nero Corsa (surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet, with the Ohlins and lightened flywheel) - Daytona RS (4 valves!) - Mk 1 Le Mans - V7 Sport (original) - V7 750 Ambassador (I mean, the gas tank alone...)

  33. Haha! Love is like that, isn't it? The experience of being part of the community that has grown out of these loves reminds of this quote by John Ruskin: "The highest reward for a man's toil is not what he gets for it, but what he becomes by it. "

  34. Forgot to mention V11 Sport in Green ..of course! Now that I think of it there was a V11 LeMans in Coppa Italia colours which was the best LeMans I've seen! Anyhoo, the V11 Range are definitely at the top of the tree as far as I'm concerned! Cheers
